I wasn't checking the pH of my water yet so the leaves are very light green and starting to show signs of deficiencies. I did switch the soil to FFOF this week. I would occasionally set a bowl of water with a towel in it to keep the humidity up. Since it's such a small tent it seems to help a little.

Thought the pH issues were some sort of pest problem at first so I started applying spinosad this week. Also transplanted into 2.6 gallon buckets. Hopefully they will be large enough to last until harvest without running into soil issues.

Flipped to flower and lightly defoliating every couple days. My tent is only 4 feet tall so flowering early was necessary, especially since I'm unsure how much this strain will stretch. No nutes yet, I'm waiting until they start showing signs of deficiencies.

It seems like the 24 hours of darkness may have helped initiate flower a little sooner since I was able to identify 2 females on day 6 of flower. EDIT: 7F plants 1 & 2 look like they're herms, pistils towards the top but seeds developing below. Seeds on plant 3 too. Since it was bagseed it's possible the 24 dark period set off the unstable genetics. I'll probably stick to feminized seeds and clones from here on out. :(

All three plants are hermaphrodites, however, plants 1 and 2 are showing minimal signs of male with seeds developing only on lower nodes, while plant 3 looks mostly male with a few pistils only on the very top nodes. I've decided to pluck the seeds from plants 1 & 2 as they develop, and to toss plant 3 to make room for the other 2. It's not ideal and I plan to buy feminized seeds or clones for my next grow, but the bud I got the seeds from was actually really good so I'm going to try to take 1 and 2 to harvest.

Still continuing to pluck seeds as they develop. Luckily there haven't been too many and they've been easy to spot. Still unsure on the cause of early browning on the pistils. A buddy of mine suggested it may have been the nutes but I'm pretty sure I saw some brown pistils even before I fed them at 1/4 strength. Going to stick to plain water for another week or so, then try some more Big Bloom and see how it goes.

Going to try giving the girls some nutes again, this time at just under 1/2 strength. Still plucking seeds from lower nodes but it hasn't got out of hand yet. Very light defoliation every couple days, did a somewhat heavier defoliation on 20F.

Everything seems to be going well at this point, no major issues. More pistils turning orange, trichome production is ramping up and I believe the buds may be beginning to swell at 30 days into flowering. The tallest colas have been maybe 6-8 inches from the LED and still no signs of stress or light burn. I also seem to have less seeds to pluck so that's a relief. I'm hoping these 2.6 gallon pots will be large enough to not be a limiting factor in yield. Just a few of plant 1's pistils are just barely starting to turn brown/orange at the tips, while plant 2 has almost 1/3 vibrant orange pistils. I'm guessing either different phenos or plant 2 is just stronger and developing much faster. I'm seeing some minor burning at the leaf tips so I'm thinking I'll bring the nutes down to 1/4 strength again.

Signature Jack smell is finally coming on stronger - sweet/citrus/diesel. Might need to support some of the buds soon since the largest cola seems to be heavy enough to start bending the stem it's on. Keeping nutes light at 1/3 strength. Hoping I can put off harvesting until after the new year but we'll see how it goes. Middle fan leaves are already yellowing, I'm guessing I relied too much on the FFOF and now the plant is hungry. Going to get some free compost tea from the hydro shop tomorrow.

Still keeping an eye on the early yellowing. I think I've been letting my soil dry out too much between waterings so it wasn't efficiently absorbing the nutrients. I'm hoping the worm tea and more frequent watering schedule will remedy the problem. I feel like the buds aren't swelling as much as they should this far into the bloom but trichome production looks great! I'm hoping I can take them both to at least 65 days before chopping but we'll see. No amber yet except a few on sugar leaves. Thoughts/suggestions appreciated!!! Edit (12/14/17): Just gave the girls some molasses with the last watering (only .5 TBSP/Gallon) Check my Xmas Grow Special video!!!

Foxtails developing on about half the buds, most likely due to being too close to the LED (although this is a sativa -dominant strain so some of it could be genetics). Any thoughts on supercropping at this point? I did some very messy training but I'm pretty limited in this 2x2x4 :( I've decided to stop giving them Big Bloom at this point and instead just alternate between regular water and worm tea with a little molasses. Update: Tied down more branches, it's even messier now but most buds are much further from the light now.

I was out of town for a week so not too much to say in this update. They're coming up on 60F but have just barely started the fade so I'm thinking another 2 weeks or so from this point. Nothing but plain water from here until harvest.

1/2/18 - Came back from a week vacation and I was amazed at their transformation!!! The smell is extremely strong, some purple tint is creeping in, and the fade is in full effect. These girls look just about ready! I'm seeing some amber trichs but still unsure of how cloudy the others are so hopefully it's not the classic "2 more weeks". 1/5/18 - Trichomes are clouding, maybe another 3 days or so until DA CHOP

What a learning experience! First tent grow, 2nd from seed, first LED grow, first topping!!! This will hopefully be my last time growing bagseed though. It was somewhat of a struggle to do 2 plants in this tiny 2x2x4 tent, mostly because I ran out of vertical room which may have contributed to the foxtailing. Despite the plants being the same strain and being cared for identically (as far as I could tell) the plant that had 1 less week of vegetation yielded possibly twice as much as the other (and older) plant. Both plants responded very well to topping. The smell came on late but strong. I suspect I may have harvested a little too early but probably not by much if so. No nutes throughout veg and very little given in flower, mostly just worm tea and molasses. Going to be more aggressive with nutrients next time around.

Easy to grow, expect a large stretch when flipped to flower. Smell comes on late but strong. Great yield. Although it's a Jack descendent it hits like an indica.

Indeed here we grow! These buds look absolutely beautiful and full of vigor! I'm excited to see how they plump up in these last few days before harvest. I can't wait to see the harvest and smoke report buddy. Cheers!

Thanks @biggreens420 ! I think I'm just going to stick with Tiger Bloom although it's tempting to try molasses too. Trying to keep it simple for my first tent grow.

@JUNGLE_B4RNS, Definitely going the fem seed or clone route from here on out. I kinda want to finish this grow for experience unless the seeds become overwhelming. Thanks for the input.

looking great! Can you tie some of the extra tall ones off to the sides so they aren't directly under the light and don't get as many foxtails going forward? Good luck on the holiday contest!

herewegrowcommented7 years ago
@Mousey, Thanks! Yeah you can see my messy training in one of the pics, and since then I've pulled down some more of the tall branches. It's just kinda tricky in my tiny tent. Wow, I didn't even think to try to push them to the sides and not just down haha thanks for the advice!
