just put my 1st "wedding cake s1 feminized" by pheno finders(bought on seedsman) it is a Girl Scout Cookies x Cherry Pie hybrid my personal favorite! i have been looking forward to this grow for awhile now and i could not wait any longer so i decided to test 1 seed out early along with a "alaskan purple" that was given as a freeby by seedsman.
anywho **Day 1 ** - i put in clean "cup"(PH 6) with a heating pad underneath cardboard. i run about 50% of my grows using solar power, and my germination period is 100% reusable resources. will recheck in 12 hours.** no light is being used just heating pad at the moment.
*Day2* - the wedding cake seed popped overnight so i have moved it to a wet paper towel in a bag for the next 2-3 days. will update once i put in soil.
**Day 4** - planted in rockwool.
***Day 5** - had to peel off the shell since it was growing weird, but all in order now! also moved the Rockwool to a container with soil.
~~~Lighting~~~
Germination - 24 W LED
veg - 400W MH Bulb. 1000W bloomspect LED(actual 220W) 1000W another random amazon blurple(actual 240W)
Bloom - Add a 600W HPS reflector hood to above list^
i hope to buy 1 good LED and replace both those cheaper since i will be doing a smaller grow this time and do not need area coverage as much.
new week everything is going well! lost power for a day from storm and house got very cold, plants did not enjoy this :(
still using water only ph 6.3 ppm 100(well water)
*day 11 * - added a little more soil. the wedding cake sprout fell over so i had to reinforce its stalk.
fixed my night time temp, putting in the big girls room which has the heater. im worried about powder mildew contaminating which is why i wasnt doing this and isolating my remaining flowering until i could sanitize room. so wish me luck!
added some nutes this week, maybe less then .1 ml in amount of water i used lol but hey i will record!
i still have no general plan for this, im going to top it and low stress train it at a bend but seeing as i will have plenty of room later on im going to make this tall.
**days 16** 2nd set of leaf starting to pop up! she is starting to look like something lol
bumped up the light schedule from 15-18 hours a day to 20 + using more LED up to about 80W RED & blue spectrum.
not much going on, slight discoloration of leaf but i think its because i was letting the temp fall at night still (having trouble maintaining night temp above 60) i do not have a solution that wouldnt raise my electricity/gas bill out of my cost zone.
started using gold shield silica, its supposed to help with cold stress and other. i forgot i had this lol
**day 24 update* the silica helped quickly, little ones are sticking up better today and grew overnight noticeably!
not likely to be the death of the plant but the cold did spot the leafs last week. new growth is looking green and enjoying being in the main room.
2 plants under a 400 W MH . i hope now growth will take off! The Alaskan Purple i assume is more cold resistant because it has stayed green and outgrown the wedding cake.
girls are getting bigger, might transplant them to larger pots this weekend if i can lay off the dabs long enough to go to the supply store.
*Day 36* transplanted, i had ment to take a pic of the roots, they looked nice and healthy!
*Day 41* ending this week with a good watering. i will get pics and start next week in a few days. added a dose of some Fox farms big bloom.
increased in watering this week and transfered pot to 4.7G.
d 49 -i bent her today a little. beginning some low stress training, i will slowly bend the plant as it grows. i find this is better then topping, as topping tends to stunt the plants growth 5-7 days and i think i might just begin flowering in about 10 days so i can reach april 1 harvest date.
rough last week. i lost power for 3 days and had to use just solar/battery power to keep my plants alive. the room was between 48-55 degrees for at least 50 hours... i hope this does not stress them in the long run but it sure did stunt the growth. i will get pics up later i just got power back so going through things.
updated** 2 days later. all seems to be fine no setback besides maybe -2 days of growth.
i see female pistals forming!!
*Day 59 update* - she has been doing great, i think i have messed up on my dates here though, oh well... i topped her today and took the bottom branch i was saving for a clone to be a future mother. will most likely begin flowering in 7 days
everything is good this week. increased nute intake and just prepping everything for transition to flowering in +-6 days
put a pic up of a comparison, the other is just as old but was used for taking a few clones for a friend now i am going to flower it.
as you may notice i have a few other plants. Milk & cookies, Member berry, alaskanpurple and a sour Diesel.
i have increased my lighting to the 600W HPS + 2 X 1000 W LED + 2 x 300 W LED this is about enough lighting to cover the 6 plants adequately... not sure if i want to use the 400W MH as im trying to stretch the plants this last week. might use it a few hour here and there, but as of now the light schedule is 19-20 hours on decreasing 30 min daily until 12/12.
trying to zero in on proper nutrient intake. PPM is 400 - 100 from base water PPM. will increase that slowly until comfortable... this is where i usually struggle to get things right, but a friend gave me a strawberry cheesecake auto thats in coco soil so its really opened my eyes to how touchy plants can be to nutes.
just starting to see early development of the calyx, be looking like a flower in a week or so!
no problems. increased ppm to around 700 and had light tip burn on a few leafs but it seemed to disappear after a day.
**!~~ sh!t sad news... seems my low temp stress in the last month caused hermies.... i plucked about 30 seed pods off it today... im sad but i may have to chuck this plant if they come back quickly... i will post pics, i was to angry to take any. it was so sudden.. my other wedding cake has enough banana clusters to satisfy a gorilla... she is being cut down .. i guess wedding cake does not like low temperature fluctuations. (of all my strains only the sour desial had a couple seed pods)
as i said last week i spotted banana pods forming in the lower areas of her so i plucked them off and none have grown back yet so fingers crossed she makes it through to the end.
seems the hermies stopped, havent had to pluck any off besides a couple straglers on the way bottom. i ended up lollipoping it a little better then i had. i hate doing that as i like the fluffy extra, but oh well better prevent any nana's. so other then that all is good.
PPM is ranging from 800-1000. she is a thirsty girl almost watering daily or she starts wilting by the morning after. trying to keep the phosphorus up by using Crystal burst and Beastie bloomz over the next 2 weeks so she gets a good flush after :)
hope everyone is doing well during these crazy times. relax smoke one!
**day 26 update** - i flushed yesterday with 1.5 G water just to break up any salts.
will post a pic in a day just wanted to get post updated. she is doing great, puffing up nicely. just about half way through flowering and she is giving off a light vanilla smell.
Day 31 update - i would guess she is half way done with flowering, another 30+- days to go! really bulking and putting resin out now she looks delicious
*day 34* - gave a heavy watering today, PPM was at 1100. added some bushdocter Bembe only had a little left but loaded her with the crystal burst and beastie bloomz. will drop back to 800 for next 2 weeks, then 2 weeks flush and she should be good to cut
day 36 - starting its final swell. sadley i found a few more banana's that popped up, i removed them and spent awhile checking over her fully. even if a couple nana pods open the amount of seeding would not be a devastating effect.
PPM was 750 in todays water. i also removed a few more fan leafs today, il be removing more every couple days now.
Day 38 - smell is getting stronger. really smells like described "peppery, spicey and light vanilla" room was giving off a fruity odor(member berry plant) but now when i walk by i smell pepper as the most potent.
D39 - not the best pictures but had to take some today, she is looking beautiful. i checked under the scope, its already 50/50 cloudy/clear trichs. she might be done early around 60 days.
watered today PPM was 650. i went light on floranova and put some florabio in since it has molasses and N. almost out of Crystal burst so i should be empty right around when flushing time is.
bulking up nicely.
i staked up the branches and tied some down they were really sagging and if she still has 2 weeks left the branches might break, she is packing on weight like a fat girl who got dumped at a chinese buffet.
Day 46 - PPM today was only 400. dropping it until flush around day 55
lost power during storm this week for 2 days... caused night temps to be 55 both days but nothing i could do to prevent that(maybe buy a propane heater next year.) other then that small set back all is fine.
made a slight mistake this week my well water must have gotten Ph imbalanced from the tons of rain last week and my Ph was 8 i had watered twice now since monday and just realized this when i was wondering why leaves looked bad. so i Ph water to 6 and flushed all my plants today with just water. hopefuly this keeps them happy until the end
day 55 - on her way to ripening. just about 1 week left to go
going to take her down on day 60. i flushed it until the runoff was 300 ppm(was 1200, so no wonder i was having issues) salt build up from the crystal burst caused some leaves to fry and age faster. learning lesson for next time, flush containers more often during the bloom cycle...
other then the no power for about 10+ days total during this girls life, low temps, banana pods, PH fucktuation and salt burn i did enjoy growing this strain and plan to make a momma out of my next girl vegging to continue growing this strain for awhile(ya i might just get better results down the line)
day 60- i took half of her down. i took picture but it came out unfocused sorry... top half started to die off rapidly because of the issues but the bottom was still fine so i think it can make it 3-4 more days of growth.
good strain from Pheno finders, super excited to try again for better results. grows fast in all stages and just looks frostier then a snowman, if i can get the buds bigger she will be perfection. who would not want this at there wedding!?!
top half of the plant is down as the yellowing was getting bad and it was good enough... letting the bottom part go still as its looking really nice and recovered. i took a nug down a few weeks ago to test and it was great!
first smoke of the new stuff 2 weeks later. wows i am zooted off that hit but it needs longer to cure still
Might be worth sticking them on a 24/0 light schedule if your budget can’t stretch for a heater during lights out mate, 60f is really going to slow growth... I usually do 18/6, but if I had heat issues, I’d do as above 👍
