After the outdoor Fall harvest, I really began to miss having any plants to be tended. On December 6, I set up 1 CBDream seed following King Seed's sprouting directions. In 2 days I could see that the seed had broken open to reveal the white sprout. I dropped the seed into the Miracle Gro soil in a solo cup. The first 2 leaves appeared above the cotyledons. I don't have a grow room or a tent. Maybe someday, but that is not today. The little sprig spent 2 days in the sunniest window. It needed more light as I am in northern hemisphere and the daylight is very short and weak. Now it is happily getting light from a 24W LED on the floor in my bedroom. Have not had to water since making the soil wet before dropping the seed.

Using Advanced Nutrients 3 part system of Grow, Micro and Bloom. The recommendations were 1 ml of each per liter. It will be awhile before the first liter of water is used. I have a Ktaxon LED Grow Light 600w Double Chips Full Specturm Lamp Kit. I read in a LED grow light distance chart focusing on the various wattages of LED grow lights, that a 600 - 800 watts fixture should be 28 to 42 inches from the top leaves. Could some of you comment on this.

It has been to cold in the unheated spare room. I blame that for the lack of growth. I had been keeping the door shut as house mate was complaining about the bright light. So I have put a small space heater in the room. Now the temperature will be improved. Tested the PH of the soil today, 6.5.

Poor sickly little thing hardly grew at all this week. It did produce 2 new little leaves. While the heater in the room helped with the temperature, I believe the very low humidity is still a big problem. From my on-line research about curled brittle leaves, I many have made a big mistake by turning on the fan for a few days this week. Wind burn they called it. The breeze increases the amount of water the plant pumps up to the leaves and that increase can actually cause the leaf cells to break. The leaves felt brittle 2 days ago, but they feel better today now that the fan has been off. I read also that the curled leaves can be cause by to much light. I have lifted the 600 LED up to 48 from 40 inches. Nitrogen burn? Perhaps not, I have only used water containing the Advanced Nutrients recommend levels. This very slow growing little thing did not drink much all week. Now, on the the humidity problem. I found a warm water vaporizer that I used years ago for my daughter's colds. I don't understand why the humidity is as low as 38% in this upstairs bedroom when the rest of the house is at 50%. Check in next week to see if the plant survives. After 2 days of higher humidity 50% and higher temperature 20 C 70 F, the plant grew an inch. I am presently thawing soil brought in from the garage, with the intention of transplanting into a much larger container, 10 liter. Apparently that bag contains some moisture. Thank you to those who responded to my grow question. They offered lots of great advice. Hopefully those that visit my grow page will be able to see this advice below.

This week my 4 week plant has been sickly and grew very little. The second leaves began to curl and when I touched them, they felt very brittle. Why? What I am trying is to increase the humidity, and moving the light further away. Little nitrogen has been given.

I strongly advice to invest in a growtent, as temperatures are way too low, even with the heater. This has stunned your grow definitly. Humidity gets this low because of your heater. Its raising the temperature, but doesnt add moisture to the air. When air is warmer, it can contain more moisture, therefore, when you heat up, RH goes down, unless you add moisture to the air. And the low humidity is a problem, it should be above 40, preferably above 50. Therefore, invest in a growtent, it is much easier to manipulate temps and RH in a tent. And the plant is definitly experiencing heavy N toxicity, its darkgreen and curled down tips are clear signs and its looking bad. Flush her good or even consider transplant. Giving the recommended amount on the bottle in this phase is WAY too much. Start with 0,5 or even 0,25. Less is more. Probably your soil had already some nutes in it, hence you dont even have to add nutes the first few weeks, even when the soil is a light mix. I had/have a N excess while only feeding 0,5 of the recommended dose just twice and only 3 liter in total on bigger plants and in a light soil mix (see week 3 of nu diary). I havent add nutes since then and my plants are growing fast, but they are still showing signs of N toxicity. The low humidity makes things worse, as it causes the plant to damp more, therefor taking up more water and thus N, increasing toxic levels in the plant. She's not looking good, I'd invest in a growtent, study some basic guides and probably start over, but maybe you can save her, I have too little experience to make that call. Goodluck!

Sick plant recovering now that the humidity is 50% instead of 35%, no nutrients added, bigger pot, higher temperature 20 C instead of 18 C and the fan turned off. You will be able to see the leaves that were dying below the new leaves. It will take weeks longer for me to get the plant to a flowering stage because of my mistakes. Normal for me to make mistakes in order to learn.

Plant has not grown taller this past week. The growing tips have reached upward after some of the branches have been bent down. Could it be that I have become to stingy with water? After the poor start with my giving to much water and nutrients, I have become water shy. Gave 2 light waterings this week that contained weak solution of Advanced Nutrients.

Plant grew 2 inches this week even with a bit more topping. I was getting to think all was going well when I noticed 3 older leaves showed damage. They had lighter green sections between the veins. A little research taught me it could be a magnesium deficiency. An emergency solution was that, I could give a very weak solution of Epson salts. No more problem leaves since. I also did a PH test and found it low. I have ordered a PH-up product. The PH level surprised me as my water is high PH and the Advanced Nutrients Is to be PH Perfect. Continuing to learn from my mistakes, which is my normal way of learning.

The addition of a little bit of Epson salts did no harm and there were no more leaves with yellowing between the veins. Just received the bottle of Root Farm PH Up yesterday. I will try to improve the PH level of the soil by including it while watering with the nutrient solution. My tap water reads PH 7. When I test the 3 mil of Advanced Nutrients in 2 cups of water it is PH 6. After I add 1ml of PH up, the test reads PH 7. Today the soil test reads a level of 6 PH which I think will be good for this coming week. No topping this week, and the plant recovered very well from last weeks topping with lots of new growth. Water requirements have increased and I was good about letting the soil dry before adding more water.

Did a bit of lolly-pop trim today. Don't panic about the light coloured young growth. That's the flash on the camera. The room is too dark for pictures when the LED light is turned off. I think I will go to 12 - 12 light schedule in a week. Would like to give the new growth a bit more time to develop.

Plants bulked up this week. As I could see some roots crisscrossing on the top of the soil, I added an inch of new soil to the bucket. Today I have switched to 12 hours of light and I have added a small LED light on one side to help the side branches get more rays. I will just keep turning the plant each day.

Flowers started this week. Naturally I am very pleased. Lower leaves are dry and curling up. So, I have turned the fan so it does not blow on the plant at all. Wondering if I have watered to much, cutting back a bit. To help those problem leaves, I have been misting them with some water. They have improved.

After a week of misting lower leaves, providing no nutrients, less watering and keeping humidity above 50%, the plants appear to be improving. No increase in height because I have trained down the two taller stalks. I wanted a more uniform height to allow more even light to center of plant.

On sunny days this week, I opened the window curtain for the plant to get some real light. One day I forgot to close that curtain so the plant got an extra hour of evening light. Insert bad words here. I hope no damage was done. Only nutrients given was a wee drop of nitrogen, because I was afraid I had been giving too much. The bottom leaves have been feeling dried out. I continued to mist with plain water those lower leaves and most have made it through the week. They seem a bit fresher this week. Still using the humidifier to keep an average humidity level of 50%. The weight to the 2 top branches caused a split in the stem. It is now taped together. The branches are now being supported with stakes.

What causes leaves to feel dry to the touch and curl down? These leaves are in the lower branches. Misting these lower leaves each day with water seems to help.I have been careful to not over water. Is it a problem with nutrients or humidity?

Hey there, it unfortunately is overwatering, you can tell from the puffy space between the veins of the leaves . That downward curling is due to some kind of water mold. Basically it's not your fault, happens all the time with the plastic pots. keep not overwatering, probably wait an extra 18 hours than you normally would, the main idea is to water just before lights on aswell, that will help just a bit. To fix the root zone issue , you need to break down problem roots with a chelation agent for example enzymes or humic acid, or even beneficial bacteria like bacilus subtilis or thuriengiensis . Just start adding either of those (not all three!) and the problem will stop spreading almost immediately and the plant should fully recover within ten days. Hope this helps ! 🚀

Plant looking better today after watering less this week and turning the fan so that it is blowing directly onto plant, rather than to the side of the plant. Bottom leaves are now much less curled down and not feeling hard to the touch.

Well yeah dude your using advanced nutrients 3 part base nutrients and only giving it one. Give it 4ml/L of all 3 micro grow and bloom. Theres your first problem you need to use all 3 parts of the base nutrients at the same time in order to get the benefits.
wawasgarden

@OnTheMoon, then it's probably a lock out from over watering or pH problem. Make sure it has good drainage and give her a flush check your soils pH.

@wawasgarden, I used all 3 parts but could not find the names of part 2 and 3 in the drop down list of Advanced Nutrients.
