As usual it's been both an amazing week and an incredibly awful week. Lol. I think that pretty much sums up all of my growing experiences. No matter how hard I try, I still have bad things pop up.
At the beginning of this week I noticed late one night when the plant should be sleeping...that i see the Light is on! During the dark period! When I decided to turn off one of my leds after harvesting another grow, I must have bumped the timer, because 2 pins were barely pushed halfway down, enabling the lights to turn on with the timer for 1 hour in the middle of the 12 hour dark period!
I was so angry and frustrated I could have kicked myself! All i could think about was plants going hermaphrodite from light leaks...will this ruin the plant...how did I hit those pieces and make it turn on.. so many exhausting thoughts. However the plant is so close to being harvested I figure I stand a good chance of avoiding anything too bad happening.
I ordered ph powder to recalibrate the pen, and when it arrived I found that the pen was indeed off by at least .2 or more. So she has been watered outside my usual 6.6 range. So this accounts for the recent leaf problems...inaccurate PH. Fortunately this is fixed now for future grows.
On the positive side the plant is definitely ready to be harvested. Her buds finally got a nice amount of amber trichromes. The buds are feeling very solid and dense, which isn't usual for me. The smell has gotten very strong but I can't really pick up much more than a generally beautiful cannabis smell. I started to give her plain water and Greenbuzz Clean Fruits to break down any extra nutrients laying around and eventually changed to plain properly ph'ed water for the last couple days.
I'm planning to cut her down in the next day. I'm extremely grateful that she's ready to harvest and will hopefully get a nice batch for such a small and short timed grow.
Thanks to everyone for glancing at this diary and all the useful advice/ information. Happy Growing and Harvesting.
Hey everyone,
Who's grown a cbd related strain and had seeds pop up at harvest or hermie traits, nanners etc.? With or without any forms of stress(light leaks, etc.).
Curious how many people besides me.
I harvested a CBD Crack plant by Fast Buds a month ago,found some nanners in it,also found some very immature seeds.No light leak,no harsh conditions,no stress and it was all green till the end.But this happens...I won't be using them as they are too immature but to be honest I don't care about seeds in my buds.I just throw them away unless I know they are useful.And yeah,I noticed them at harvest
nice plant!
Except for the hermie problems, from your experience do you think that would be possible to grow CBD's and regular THC's in the same box or will they affect each other someway?
@TrueNorth, Thanks so much 💚😊 I was trying to keep this girl fairly all natural grown..no topping etc.. but she's been so strong and so healthy and got a little taller than i wanted to I went ahead and did 1 bit of HST and did the old pinch and bend on the top.... super cropping it's called maybe?
@Wicked_Stix, i started 4 more. From the flowering plant. I went back to using just root powder and we'll see if they make it. I've cloned flowering plants before....it's just this 1 plant that will not clone. By the time 1 made roots it had already lost 90% of any green life
@Experimentgreen, yeah I have taken them a week before harvest. Just try to find the most premature lower buds and cut below at least one node. Plant it in your choice of grow medium and keep it really moist with very low wattage light. Should root in about 14 days. I put some info in my fire and water monster crop diary on how I do it with perlite. Soil usually works though.
@Wicked_Stix, really? Even this far along? I took a clone a few weeks ago and it had a bud site already developed and it didn't want to take. It's just a bummer cause who knows if the next seed i sprout will be as strong and good. It's always a coin toss.
Any tips on the monster cropping?
@Jazzvet, no that's ok i didn't have instagram until a friend on here told me to get one a year ago. I threw a tiny diary together that has the underfed ones. Ill tag you in it.
@Jazzvet, so i actually haven't put it on GD. It's my hermie Trials. And the photos are on my instagram. I wonder if i can send you a photo directly...let me try.
nice plant!
Except for the hermie problems, from your experience do you think that would be possible to grow CBD's and regular THC's in the same box or will they affect each other someway?
@Swompu, so from my experience and other grow friends who i trust...many cbd plants hermie. So if you don't mind having a little seeds here and there then yes you totally could grow them together.
*I'm sure not all cbds hermie but it is a common occurance. I have 2 plants from this mamas grows seeds and neither of them hermied.
Yeay, happy harvest to you 😍and well done, she is beautiful. I'm growing this strain for my Mom as well (still have to create journal here), only the best. I'm excited to see how balanced she comes out. Are you planning on producing any oils or topicals...? Happy day ☀️
@starke, hey 👋
This plant was pretty small since it was the test plant...so I'm thinking of a small batch of edibles. But i think the next one I'll do a some topicals...probably try for a pain cream recipe.
Looks like you got some pretty good buds off that one! Had to comment when I read your post, did the same thing with supplemental lights in the tent. Bumped the timer with the back of my fat head I guess, and was running an hour of led strips in the middle of the night. I was also close to the end and it just gave the buds a couple weird leaves popping out the top, close calls haha.
@bk_garbage,
Bummer. When I saw mine on I'm like wtf!? It's supposed to be dark! Ahhhh
Then when I harvested i found the nanners...and eventually seeds...but i don't think the seeds could have been as developed from 7 days since the light problem. So probably genetics
@Greengirl420, Thanks girl 💜 this has been one crazy strong fun plant. Hopefully the clone will root. This variety actually is their photoperiod one, but i hear that too about not cloning autos...i wonder if you could clone one very early on to pollinate maybe? I might just have to try cloning an auto just to see what would happen.
Thank you very much for your new diarie and our late joining with our 100% organic, mostly vegan products.
Looks very good actually, the success is already apparent.
@GreenBuzzNutrients, thanks so much. You're so right, this plant or strain has taken to your nutrients very well. Healthy as can be the whole grow so far.✌️💚
@highroller909 hey thanks for the answer. I'm wondering if it's pretty common with plants that have some cbd mixed in... my seeds look very developed like i could just chuck em outside like jack and the beanstalk. Lol
@HighRoller909, i thought about germinating all the seeds to see how many pop up female...and also how many hermie again because of being hermie stock.
@Experimentgreen, might be. they might tend to hermie more than other strains because of the crossing background but I honestly have no other idea.Maybe because mine was a cross of a sativa with a cbd,just like yours,Blue dream is a sativa too.they are more hermie prone.yes your seeds are very mature,they are useful.you can get many plants out of them :D
and great plant by the way.that blue leaves green pistils photo is awesome
