To speed up growing on top, I removed 4 new branches only (leaving the leaves) on the first internode on left and right.
Is it better to wait 4-5 internodes and then apply the main-lining? Or is it much faster to remove unnecessary branches nor leaves as I did? Thanks

Waiting will give your plant extra leaves to grow faster. If you removed as you went, the plant would grow a lot slower
So to be direct, let it grow a couple nodes, find your node you want to top at, remove all the extra branches/leaves up until your last "main lined" branch.

Auwia Another cut in mailing direction was done last Saturday. I'm pretty satisfied about how it is going and I hope to reach at least 8 colas thanks to mainline grow technique, first objective is 16 to be honest, but let's see if it is feasible considering the box is 30x65x160cm only. :-)

Auwia This time the stress was double: transplanting and mainlining for the third time. I'm wondering if the plant will survive this time too! :-( I hope so! Fingers crossed and happy growing.
25.03.2020 the gorilla is still stressed and confused, primary leaves are not good.
27.03.2020 the gorilla is still sad and stressed, primary leave are going to die and I don't know how I can help! but new stems are starting to grow, actually they are very little, seams like they are starting now to grow! Btw let's be patient and wait for improvements or maybe suggestions from somebody of you. Thanks in advance.

Auwia Today is starting another week, the plant looks like still confused and I'm guessing if it's going in flowering even if light scheduling is still 18 hours of day light. My original plan was to get 16 colas, but probability I've to reconsider this number. I'll wait until Wednesday to decide if proceed with the last cut or not.
Community, what do you think about?
10.04.2020 - most probably I'll stop here to cut and I'll remain with 8 colas. Growing is still very slow, but I guess the plant feel much better now. Let's see next week what will happen, in any case I guess right now I can't do anything more.
12.04.2020 - final clean-up before go to bloom. At end I decided to stay on 8 colas...16 is still postponed, but I don't think I've enough space to go with 16. Anyway until now I'm quiet happy, electricity consuming is very low and I'm doing everything natural. Right now I'll with 17 hours of light per day and every week I'll cut 1 hour of light, because I would like to have tall colas before switch completely. Fingers crossed and talk you soon. Auwia Yesterday I've cleaned-up each cola to start finally to grow in vertical! :-P This morning I anchored colas to the border of pot and I switched to 17 hours of light ON. I'll continue in this direction every Monday to arrive to 12/12 in the next month and half. Let's see what will happen. This morning plant did not presented any sign of stress or similar. Smell is coming.

Auwia A new week is starting, I'm reducing the light on/off scheduling to reach 12/12 in 1 month. The gorilla is growing well now and everything looks good.
25.04.2020 - 9:30 I switched back to 18/24 again and lighted off the red LEDs. Target is to have tall colas, if they'll grow too much in flowering I'll move them outside the balcony. I've also watered with advanced nutrients. I dissolved nuts into 2.5 liters of water, but I used that for other plants too. Happy growing and nice weekend.

I think you should have transferred to 12/12 another 2-3 weeks ago. in the last 3 weeks, your plant has just stretched. that is, nothing useful for this weeks happened to him. and now if you transfer it to bloom you will have a problem with very long branches, since they will stretch twice more. Switch to 12/12 now and use lst to each branches

18.05.2020 - After 2 days outside the box, the gorilla is back in her home. I had a couple of problems with humidity that was too much high and with fresh air everything is back at the normality.
19.05.2020 - 19:00 - I defoiled the gorilla because almost ready for the blooming staging.
20.05.2020 - 07:00 - Thanks to the defoliation I did yesterday this morning I quickly noticed some improvements on external branches.
23.05.2020 - 08:00 I switched on blooming staging 12/12 finally, red light on! soon I'll water nutrients with the new program.

Auwia I've flip 2 days ago, but I still didn't see any blooming sign, so let's start another veg. week even if I can change it anytime there are updates.
26.05.2020 - 07:30 - This morning the gorilla doesn't have a nice appeal, leaves are curved down and I don't know /imagine any reason for that. By consequence I moved the plant outside the balcony and I've watered with 5ml of Revive.
27.05.2020 - 07:30 - The morning the situation maybe improved a little bit, but yesterday evening was really bad. Another day outside trying to recover my gorilla. Fingers crossed.
28.05.2020 - 07:30 - Still outside the balcony the Gorilla and she is much better now. I'll continue in this direction until I can. Fingers crossed.

It was not easy to grow this Gorilla,I got a couple of diseases when I was cutting for main-lining and at the end with mold. It's a very good plant for cloning, but it needs support when it goes in flowering. So hard to grow and weak resistance are the main characteristics. I'm sure I'll try again, but with a different approach.

Auwia 150g unfair result, but I accept it and take it as example to improve and do better next time. I will update you sooner than the drying phase is completed.
07.08.2020 - 07:30 - Drying phase completed, 28g at the end, I start to cure in jar glass for at least 20-30 days.

looks very nice and symmetric but...this particular method of mainlining takes way too much time and the yield is not as good. check out my journals for some alternatives of the " classical" main lining version. I've finished all my toppings day 40, from then on it's just LST and vegetative growth. 12 weeks of vegi and then flowering. The more topping equals more stress, equal more recovery time, equals slow growth, equals less yield

Dear @@occultgreen420, no it's not slow, I did a wrong transplant at week 7 and I didn't had any kind of nuts (like revive) so I lost 4 weeks to recover the plant. If you remove 4 weeks, I'm exactly at same week of you, because I've seen your diary and my feedback is positive of course, but I would like to compare at the end! 😀

Looking good bro. Looks to be another different pheno but still didnt stretch much. Always thought gg4 was suppose to stretch. My real fast growers in veg actually slowed in 12 12. Cheers friend

@GMSgrows, yes it's a different pheno, I don't like it to be honest it is very dried and leaves curved again, this time no overwater at all. i still didn't understood it, clones are going very good too (as I've seen for you too) and I still have 3 seeds, probably next year I'll test again, but in a different way. Gorilla glue was the first strain i grew, damn this one is resillient i did all newbie mistakes and the some and still managed to get 200g from 3 plants.

Babies are looking good. Next time when your vegging your plants, watch the leaf stems. When they start going red or purplish their telling you they want their food level upped. So when you see purple coming into the leave stems it's time to go up 100 ppm on your nutes, then watch that new growth is coming back green, if not they want even more. If you keep the stems of the leaves green through their veg cycle, then, your more likely to get a max harvest in the end. This only applies to plants in veg. In bloom the stems of the leaves will turn red or purple because their not taking the nitro at the levels they were in veg, so red stems mean nothing then. Grow on my friend. Cheers.

No, it is not flowering, you can still keep topping if you want, just keep in mind that it will need a couple of weeks to recover from the topping
