Hello growers! Let's check this growing adventure.
Setup: Grow tent HobeBox Growlab 80x80x180; Lights Quantum Board from Ledideal, two desks each 752meat power chops 7th generation + 15cree red 660nm with control unit. Operating between 80W-270W, efficiency 211lm/watt in 140watt; System NFT Gro tank 75x75x30cm (seems I have some faulty product or Nutriculture is a shitty producer, because the plastic base for growing is not 100% flat, therefore there are some deep water lakes at the front of water flow while there should be some light nutrient film. ;Ventilation Prima Clima 360m3/h +filter +fan
Strain: Jack Herer from Trikoma Seeds, some young spanish seed bank. Seems like they've chosen for selection quite hazey pheno, their Jack Herer should flower 11-12 weeks, which is true sativa stuff
Nutrition: Metrop line+some shampoos
Seedling on images are like 3 weeks after germination, when I was only spray them with water +oot stimulator. Light isset on 50W. From teh week 1 I start with NFT pump
Light on 75W
Due to problems wit PH probe I've faced some nutrition problems as you can see burnt leaves.
Necesary to add Calgree and pure MgO in order to combat the light aggresivity. These light are really really strong and intense, Leaves are overexposed.
You can see I topped it and made some lst in order to get some nice manifold.
You can see the front plants are signifficantly more subtile comparing to robust rear ones. I really think it's due to the not 100% flat basis of growing desk which results in deeper water areas infront the fron plants, while there should be just slight nutrient film. I'm sure the light is distributed equally. I guess I will claim this shitty NFT plastic. It's expensive like shit and they just can't make the good product.
Lights 120W white +60W red (at the end of week increased on 140W+60W)
Hello, in third week of flowering I've switched the red light on, it's plus 60W and I'm continuing to slowly increase the total wattage. Next week I should move to 180W+60W. These lights are just so intense, that giving plants the full power from beginning would kill them. I hope this strain is quite a lot on Haze/tropical sativa side, which could mean the plant is more resistant and used to high amount of sunlight.
As we are in 3rd week, we can see a classic grow spurt, especially in case of two rear plants, which are much better devoloped (due to the problems with NFT plastic base I suppose) I'm not able to hold all stems in equal canopy level, so I'm resigning on it and let's see what happen. At the end of the week I can spot first bud forming.
I've trimmed some lower leaves and branches, even though I'm not a big fan of defoliation. (edet: later on I'll go for defoliation as a test)
Relative humidity is quite high, it this stage I would like to have some 60% max, but even when I go to 75% sometimes, it's not a disaster.
This week I've added few new nutrition shampoos as sugar from Botanicare and some flowering shampoos from Atami. EC is relatively high - 2,2 - but I'm very pleased to see the plant are absolutely oK with that, the value of EC is decreasing in time, which means nutrients are consumed faster than water. Seems like this starin is very tolerant to nutrient surplus.
I wrote some question on this strain to seed bank- Trikoma seeds and I'm very negatively surprised they are not comunicating at all. I would expect better customer service.
Lights 180W+60W
This week I ve defoliated the lower lever of all plants as I would did normally. Additionally I've decided to run a test. I'll defoliate the left side ( left front and left rear plant) more properly. I'll be defoliating them in few steps in following days/weeks and we will see the difference at the end.
At this stage, both rear plants are more robust and better developed, the right rear one is the most developed, I need to bend her more extensively. The front plants are less developed although it seems as the left front one got some rejuvenation and starts to grow finally.
I've introduced some shampoos from Atami B'cuzz.
Lights 200W+60W
- full power
This week I'm running under full power of lights. I didn't control the reservoir for whole week and it appeared that EC has grow up to 2,8 EC, which is brutal. But seems that plants were OK with that.
Still continue with defoliating of left side. I'm just scared to cut it all at once. So I'm just cosmetically removing the big fan leaves. But I like it! There is much more light and air flow. It also helps with maintaining of humidity.
The front-left one continue with flower stretch and it appeared that she caught up the other rear ones. That's really good, although I can't say it's due to defoliation. Probably not.
Lights 200+60W
The flowers are getting stretchy in sativa way. This weak I gave the proper defoliation to lefside plants. Maybe it's not that visible from pictures, but really, all big fan leaves are off. Maybe I could go even harder, but I'm scared. reading some articles about defoliation, I'm probably too late to change something signifficant in this stage. My observation is that left side which is defoliated, is growing in standard way. I can't say if better or worse, but nothing bad had happened. The plants didn't stop growing. But there are some positives, definitely there is much more light and I believe at the end of the day there will be better crop from lower part of plants and there is better air flow and it helps regulate humidity. I'm really curious about final result.
This week I was very pleased to see that front left plant, which was quite retarded, has caught up the other big plants and now is almost the tallest one! On the other hand the right-front one is still retarded and is the weakest plant. Additionally I've decided to keep the right side with bushy leaves, so there is lot of shade for the buds of this plant. I'm hesitating now. I can resign on experiment and defoliate even right side to allow more light for the weakest plant.
Rear-left plant s obviously different pheno than the others. It stays low (despite the fact she was very well progressing), buds are dense and compact and maturate faster (while the others are typical sativa long colas)
This week we can see soem nutrient burn over leaf tips. Next batch I signifficantly decrease the level of nutrients.
We have some four weeks to go.
Plants had some 5 days flush.
You can see some white bud tops at the top of two highest colas. Wtf is that? Too much light? Or some genetic albinism? Anyway, there are three weeks to go, so I suppose we'll see some fattening up next days/weeks.
Some two weeks flushing with PHed water and enzymes. Next week there should be harvest according seedbank, but ready is only the "more into indica" pheno, which can be seen on picture. It hase nice dense bud, trichomes are milky with very rare appearence of amber ones. Other three plants needs at least two weeks to fatten up the buds properly . It seems really like the pure haze sativa, not as the shitty strain of this name from Greenhouse seeds.
So here we go, 1,5 - 2 weeks.
At the end of the week, we've reached 85th day of flowering. Seed bank says this strain should be ready in 75-85 days, so we should be at the very end. According to colour of trichomes we still ned some week, at least three sativa phenos. The "indica" pheno is ready , fat and thick. Infortunatelly, those "indica" pheno buds are so compact and dense that some bud rot appeared on them. Some tops of this "indica" pheno were chopped. I have to resist one more week. Problem is the humidity. In tent there is 65-70% which is too much in final flowering stage. Unfortunatelly I can't move it as the same humidity is in the whole room.
The smell is now more into mango, little bit sweet.
So once more, thank you all for watching, hopefully I gave the community some interesting inputs. Big up for Ledideal lights! Sorry for my English.
later edit: I've discovered I've made a mistake in grow. On some pictures in late bloom you can see the "fontain" leaf structure on top colas, which means the flowers were exposed to light furing the night phase. As result, flowering was delayed by 2-3 weeks. It probably affected the final crop, and of course it prolonged the flowering period. I was complaining about too long time of flowering above, so I have to be fair here and admit it was my fault and those plants should normally finish exactly as seed bank indicates 75-84 days. This is big lesson for me for next grows.
