Soaked this lil purple lemonade in RO water at 75f and she popped in about 12 hours. Then I transferred her to a 2 inch rockwool cube that had been soaked overnight in ph 6 RO water to stabilize ph. About 18 hours later she emerged and we are off....
She will be grown in a single 5 gallon dutch bucket setup with a 5 gallon reservoir. Bucket is lined with a paint strainer bag and filled with 100% perlite. Nutrients will be pumped 24 hours a day by an aquarium powerhead pump. Will be oxygenating the reservoir with an aquarium air pump and a standard airstone.
Starting her under a 12w t-sun led grow light. Will switch to cfl in a couple days if she doesn't show good growth. Then she will go under a galaxyhydro 1000 around the end of week 2. Running a little cool mist humidifier next to her for now to keep her happy.
I am using old perlite from a previous grow so I am running the system with a heavy dose of hydrogen peroxide for a day or 2 to kill any funky stuff that might be brewing. Once the seedling has a nice Taproot out of the bottom of her cube I will plant her in the bucket and get this show on the road. Probably be a little cloning and colloidal silver action going on in a few weeks.
Day 2 I flushed the peroxide out of the system and added a little maxigro. She had about .75 inch Taproot already so I planted her in the bucket and pumps are running. As you can see she is a little droopy. This is just her adjusting to the environment. She will perk up in a day or so. Will probably have to adjust the pH a couple times this first week. With the low nutrient dose there aren't enough buffers to hold it stable until I get around .5 tsp dose then it should hold pretty stable.
Day 4 running smooth. Her color is looking good and she is slowly showing growth daily. Added a pinch of 90/10 humic/fulvic acid to help her absorb nutrients and help buffer the pH. pH has held stable since adding it.
@Growdiaries, my day and night temperatures keep reverting to 50 on both of my current diaries. I can edit it but it just changes back as soon as I save it. It there a way to fix this? Thanks
One of my new round of 8BK emerged from the seed, the seed popped off, but there was a waxy looking covering over the seedling preventing it from opening up. I let it go for a couple days and eventually decided to gently remove it. Now it's growing fine! Nature just fucks up sometimes, I've seen this sort of thing with pea plants and other garden vegetables. I've had "Siamese bell peppers" where there's two peppers growing together lol
@Jwjoh, I get a seedling every once in a while that has that little membrane stuck on it. They usually push it off pretty quick though. This purple lemonade has made some good progress though. Will be updating her tomorrow.
Hey friend,
I want to start using a fulvic acid and amino acids in my grow along with the humic... have you come across anything like that? What hum/fulv are you using?
@Experimentgreen, No problem 😁 I am off in some ranch land also. I try to save where I can and that humic makes a difference in the nutrient doses I need.
@Wicked_Stix, you're awesome. 💚 the podcast i like kisorganics.com says to go buy all your own bulk nutrients for way cheaper at the feed and seed store...like a farm supply place....i live in ranch territory so I'm sure i could find one around here somewhere.
@mr_h_kovert, no this is the only one I sprouted unfortunately. The thing that resembles a pot in the back is a little humidifier. It looks like she might grow a branch from that little side chute so I might be able to work with her. Guess we will see here pretty soon.
I reused my perlite too, baked it at 200F for 45 mins covered up in a big turkey roasting pan to make sure everything was dead :) Surprisingly, that plus a quick rinse also got out all the algae and everything.
@Reaper, I think I will be lucky to get an ounce off this girl, but I am doing an auto run after I flower my photo plants. I think I can pull off a 4+ ozunce one in a proper setup with the dutch buckets. Fingers crossed anyway 😁
@Wicked_Stix, yes i was looking for daaays to order a strain like that, i think Barneys farm ”purple punch” is the best i found purple and yield.. and purple queen from royal queenseeds. i grew dark devil autoflower once, always very dark purple and good yield also but i dont like autos i only grow them in the winter under HPS lol to heat the room. anyway all purples taste very sweet but dont hit too strong, yeah the rainwater is easy i got an RO filter too, takes ages to give me 30liters just get a 100litre barrel and put the pipe from outside the house (the thing coming from the roof) in the barrel and collect rainwater hope this helps
@Reaper, She isn't going to put off very much, I just wanted to sample some real purple. Never grown a purple yet. Have any recommendations for a good, strong purple photoperiod strain?
purple strain....purple strain......only wanna see you dancing in the purple......nope...clearly got the lyrics a little wrong! those sexy parts look like they going to swell....maybe give em a tickle hehehehe.
@stunflower, yeah she has. Kinda wishing I would have left her in the dutch bucket. I think she could have gotten big. Guess there is always next time....
