Just starting these girls on 24 hr light, using CFL and smaller LED for seedling stage. Seeds were started in ph adjusted water then into mini growdan cubes to root , then into foxfar. Ocean forest soil once rooted thru the cubes .looking forward to another wicked cycle.
Week 2 , got the plants rooted into 2 gallon veg pots once they got comfy, starting feeding schedual on quatter strength kelp , will increase feeding as they get bigger . Coming along strong. bubba's gift was a few days behind the two zombies, so I started it in the second week. but its also doing very well.
Going in to week 3 , started off with some mild ph issues after transplanting to larger pots, may have over fertilized not being used to FFOF soil , started feeding at half strength with foxfarm growbig, and using growth science organics root magic , and humic tonic, plants seem to have recovered from whatever shock they got from my oversight, watching the runoff and soil ph carefully. Getting ready for first topping and the start of LST
Coming into week 4 , topped them at 2nd node earlier this week, and let them toughen up a couple days . Through the week I was doing main stem bends to start supercropping, still a bit small for that , added some tie points to keep things spread out nicely , planning on doing a slightly longer veg stage this run, to max out yield and terp production. Going great so far. Starting to show some dank smells when i handle them.
coming into week 5, had a small bit of heat shock on zombie 1, it initially shocked pretty good from my oversight on the soil being pretty hot to begin with,
then I over watered, carelessly, since then zombie one was always a bit smaller, and slower, but its come out of that now i think, on just water for the last week,
switched all the initial tie points to less invasive loops over the plant, and removed my first ties with string for a coated wire, much more manageable.
this last week on just water and rooting solution has been odd with temperatures, seeming to range higher in my tent for no reason, so Ive lowered the fan off the
ceiling of the tent to about 10 inches above the plants, and put the plants on a lower shelf . raised the light just slightly.
overall dropping my degree back to 24c. (it was around 28 at peak) and may have been causing issues with zombie 1.
corrected now, and just working the training for the time being, I started another seed a Ripper "washing machine"
which I will be only giving a short veg stage (due to its massive stretch) while these current ones get trained and cloned.
things are coming along. I expected a few hiccups on new fertilizers and soils and genetics, but this doesn't go without learning something.
always be sure how hot the soil is before you run fertilizers.
shouldve checked the run off ph.
anyways. corrected now.
cant wait to see how this group looks all trained up ready to flip.
the bubbas gift is a bit of difficult girl , her nodes are very close and it doesnt give me much room for training.
smells amazing already tho, and looking dark, likley show some purples.
Coming in week six, everything is doing great , lots of new growth from all the plants , been running just water since the soil is heavily amended now with everything in it , probably going to run an extended veg period to build some proper structure and get full potentials. Just been minding the temps and keeping the training in line as the plants flex around the wires, this "looping over"method is a change from tying directly to branches like Im used to , but it makes for simple adjustments and its low impact on the plants it seems . Z2 is loving the training.. Z1 is finally over its issues fully and has been gaining size quickly , I will be widening its ties , overall every thing is prime in veg stage , just gonna let it go until the plants are itching to flower. Another 3 or 4 weeks if i can. We shall see. Everything has started taking on it's induvigual smell, so far the bubba smells the strongest smelling like a pure kush and sime extra sweetness , the zombies have an almost nasty garlic smell . 🔥
Week 7 . The larger of the plants are requiring more attention every day as they are getting a bit large for the 2 gallon pots , shoeing some minor lightness from nitrogen lacking , ive adjusted since i noted itx seems to be improving . planning on transplanting this week. Up to a 6 gallon or larger , been removing lower leaf as it wilts from canopy cover , this LST method is effective in keeping then shrunk small. Hoping to keep the training going into the larger pots , this longer veg cycle is tedious and im always impatient to see flowers, but waiting will pay off given the strains im growing. Slowing been increasing feeding as the soils natural stuff depletes, probably in for the long haul on the veg cycle , another three weeks at least until my others will be ready to flip , and that gives me lots of time to find that perfect kola structure from the larger ones.
Week 8 already , staryed running both led panels sometime last week , forgot to note that change , so its warmer , and i changed my fan setup by adding better ducting into the tent , so humidity is holding and temp is stable. got basically fully growth to support flower on the 3 i had started originally with washing machine a couple weeks behind , not a bad thing cuz it doubles in stretch. Gives me a couple weeks to transplant and get the others into larger pots and settled in before the flip. relocating the intake fan to a cooler place made a big difference in temps , seems more stable. Laying off the feeding for this week , this soil seems to have everything these girls need for veg , maybe even still a touch hot after my tampering. But seeing daily gains and working our way towards the flip. Id say a couple of weeks from now isnt too far off accurate for that . Its difficult to not just flip on my timers and watch these things cannon . But i know my patience now will fill more jars if i wait it out.
Starting out Week 9 , transplanted the main 3 girls into 5 gallon pots , removed the wire training and trained the main branches to bamboo, everything took the transplant very well , just basically running on the amended soil and what nutrients were already in that , tryin to keep my EC low as both strains seem to react really heavily to ph changes. Soil is sitting around 6 ph for all the plants , slightly lower on the cuttings cuz i havent added anything at all. Seems like my soil sits about 6.5 and with a little humic and watering i can get it to comfy high 5 area . All the plants are trying to flower , and im looking at flipping this coming weekend , just doin some final training on that late washing machine to control its massive flip stretch . Should be a really fast flip as everything seems itching to flower and full of powerful growth , z2 has been sprouting fully developed leaves everyday . Cant wait to see these girls start stacking of weight. The bubbas gift is looking and smelling amazing . Should be an exciting week with the flip in a few days
Week ten. After letting everything get pretty dry and I put the remaining smaller washing machine plant into a 5 gallon, trained everything to bamboo within the last week and adjusted it for the stretch, I started the plants on greenhouse feeding "shortflower" at 3ml per gal , and giving them full strength later today , keepong humic tonic in the mix to keep my soil free of salts and buildups , everything seems to be setting in to flower just perfectly , the zombies dont have a pile of stretch maybe a few inches , but the bubbas gift has easily doubled in hieght , which goes againt what the breeder predicts ? No idea.. anyways loads and loads of preflower groups and stacks of new growth in the flip, everything is basically glowing from fresh growth. Z2 has been kicking out new 9 pointed full developed fans by the dozen everyday , and when she does settle into flower i think its gonna be heavy. Keeping some main cut clones running from my 2 strongest pheno, hoping i can run at least one of them outdoors after mothering it a few more months. Exciting to start flower as some of my best friend growers are just harvesting, I love this cycle and the potential it brings. So glad to be a Canadian and have the right to grow.
Week 11, getting thru the flip , everything really settled in solid this week , got the plants in their flowering positions in the tent , and installed a scrog mesh to keep everything seperated , so my photos wont have as many "out of tent angles" , just been keeping the ph and temps solid, watching the huge preflowers and stacks forming on all the branches , the bubbas gift is fast flowering as promised and seems days ahead of the others, had some pretty decent stretch which wasnt expecred of that strain but i was prepared , should be a very good run , increasing my feeding to full strength on this water , and then doing a dry out before half flower flush. Cant wait to see them really fill in , the stems on bubbas gift are shooting purple and red like crazy. Should be pretty girl.
Posting this week a bit late , been a stressful one on both the plants and everyone with this covid thing , as yiu can probably tell i let the PH get way too high on the bubbas gift, not clear really if it was bad mixing on part or just a sensitive pheno and bad drainage , i gave it a good flushing and got the ph corrected and its looking better slowly , Ive saved the horror show for the next weeks post as I want good recovery shots . Im confindent itll come thru the harvest now that Ive fixed the issues , and the other three (the ripper seeds) are all floating along tough as nails . Stacking and growing. Although the zombie 1 and zombie 2 are very different phenos , as z2 is basically twice the size at the same age , same conditions exactly. Z2 being the obvious winner of this cycle, iv kept a very strong main cut from her to continue to work with , and clones from it have also shown me nothing but the same vigor and size . Hoping to see some colors from these girls , as the genetics have lots of potential for that. Watching bubba's gift like a hawk , checking ph and runoff , watching her slowly pull back thru.
Week 4 of flower, all the plants have formed up the permenant sites for flowering big time now, starting to stackup between nodes and form single long kolas on some places, orher remain spaced with lollipop style candy buds growing everywhere , as I explained in my last week , the bubbas gift took a pretty hard hit for ph , and over feeding maybe , but some quick flushing action managed to save her from a nuclear firey death, so apologies if she looking a bit toxic and ugly for a few shes had a tough time . Shes smelling amazing and I will be happy with whatever yield she gives me because of that. The bubbas gift was a slow veg plant and almost a weakling in some ways responding to changes in light of feeding ,often recoiling in shock over nothing , I feel like Ive been served a weak pheno of an already challenging strain. But anyways , the rippers , are being rippers , and destroying all expectations for huge stacks of terp heavy dense beautiful kush buds. Cant wait for another 5 weeks or so to see how these girls turn out. Then on to my next run . And some outdoors at the time.
Week five gains! Every plant is stackin flowers daily , the 2 weeks dry out between 3-4 worked amazing. Been alot better ph wise after that hiccup, everything is sticky and bubbas gift is sugary as hell, down onto the fan leaves , smelling like sticky sangria and kush. The others are also starting to produce resins but not quite as quickly , zombies are smelling like garlic popcorn and deep dank kushiness .washing machine is doing her weird little lollipop formations and starting to show some decent little buds , smells like a cheese kush fart. Lol. Overall this run has been great so far. Just kinda on auto pilot these days , open the tent a few times a day just to have a look , scrogging keeps it all organized. And my training method has filled the tent with canopy almost to the inch . Should be a decent yield here ina few more weeks.
Week 6. Heavy into resin production and bud swelling , all 4 plants have been taking on alot more water and the ph has been great , seems like adding humic every few feeds really clears up the blockouts . Bubbas gift is quick to stack but slow to fill them out , still has about 3 weeks , a bit earlier than the others , and its obvious by the level or terpenese coming off her (sweet sticky sangria and heavy dank kush) also her calyx are starting to darken and receed slowly , not looking like it will be a large yield from that plant but for sure a tastey one. But who knows she may just have been delayed by the ph shock at early flower (more likley stunted) but with a mother plant still running from her topping cuts , Im not concerned. The zombies are very different plants and id honestly guess they were fully different strains if i didnt open the pack myself. The z1 is short and stalky . Bushy . And has harder thick buds similar to cookies or other tighter indica varieties.. the z2 is a jumbo beasty version. The same traits just twice the thickness and size. And a noticeably more lavender more sativa tone to the smell and the leaf shape. Both reek of garlic and deep fruit like funky citrus and berry and butter creamy tones sometimes too. Should be interesting to see how they are different in smoke and effect. Wishing i would have cloned z1 also , not that im seeing it later flower structure it would be a good sea of green pheno. Could always reveg it i guess. Anyways, the washing machine is filling out nicely for only having her reccomended 4 weeks of veg.. (seemed so wrong flipping it that early) but its yielding prettly much the same as the run i did before this (not on GD) , it washing machine from ripper , just 2 plants , very very terpy smoke. Lemon pledge and funky cheese. Cant wait to have a taste of it again. Hopefully this batch turns out just as great.
Week 7 , things are filling out and ripening , the resin production has been kicked into extreme by the addition of beastie bloomz , everything is so sticky I must wear gloves to even tend the plants at all or risk walking around loud as hell. The bubbas gift is going tonbe cut first and its getting close to the day i give it a full flushing , taking it day by day , last water feed for the others is tuesday , then a week of flush and a few days of dep . Then its onto the next cycle. Cant wait to taste these . This run is pure flavour city and just in time for the nice weather to start. Have a good week growers !
So , the harvest on this post is going to be a bit complex , one of my zombie kush is still running , as well as the washing machine. But i have harvested z2 which was the largest of the 4 and by far the most flower. And also have harvested the bubbas gift. It was a short flowering strain and only produced an ounce. But that ounce is amazing smoke. More to come about that in other sections, back to zombie kush , the smell was like strong rootbeer and garlic breath as I cropped it. Not alot of left overs as far as leaf and shake goes , just around 2.5 or 3 oz from the z2 plant. And just over an oz from the bubbas gift. 32 g. Just a few more days on the other 2 plants , the ripper seeds washing machine is a beast this run and reeks of lemons amd cheese. and the zombie kush number 1 (which is a fully different pheno and finishing much slower and has harder smaller buds) more from that soon also.
She got shocked really badly from an early mistake with ph , took a while to recover which i feel shortened the flowering and decreased the yield , i took clones , and will be mothering a keeper from this , but this first run at it was a difficult test. And im glad to have to single ounce she produced as it some of the dankest flower ive ever smelled , not to mention grown. This was from a freebie seed , and I will be running the clones from the mother Ive kept. Hopefully knowing what I do about this pheno , I can get a better yield next try , because it really is something special
Buds coming along great. Love the in depth diary also. Amazing work. Keep it up and may the ganja garden gods bless you with good fortunes the rest of the way.
I’ve got Zombie Kush in flower now! She’s smells great! Very very sturdy stalks with my girl. Be careful not to snap a branch when training. I saved one, but not the other. She still rebounded with power!
