05/13: Starting the flushing process, only using pH'd water and some LiquidSoil Remediator from TPS in order to prep the soil for reuse (curious to see how well it works, if at all).
- watered both plants with: 1.75 gallons each of filtered water, pH ~6.4, 5mL/gal LiquidSoil Remediator.
05/14: the humidity has been spiking at night due to the heavy rains earlier today, up to 71% RH during the night (lights off), this showed me how useless my tiny dehumidifier is ($35 Seavon unit).
- the Five Star is showing more and more purple, it's crazy how quickly she's fading from light green to deep, deep purple. For some reason I had lower expectations on the Five Star compared to the Star Pupil at the start, but she's surprising me so much whereas the Star Pupil didn't turn out as well as I thought. I'm thinking about reveging the Five Star after harvest and grab clones now that I have the 2nd setup ready for a veg tent.
-increased the airflow on my outtake fan to the max and added an intake fan at the bottom to get as much air flow as possible and lower the chance of mold/rot.
05/15: the humidity plateau'd at 70% RH again last night, super worried about getting bud rot because of it, and it really doesn't help that all the buds are super close to the point where they are touching and pressing against each other (it's real bad on the Star Pupil).
- went through both plants to check if bud rot starts to develop.
- trimmed a decent amount of leaves on the Star Pupil to try and increase airflow between the nugs.
05/16: lower RH at night but still plateau'ing around 65%
- watered both plants with: 1.75 gallons each of tap water (unfiltered), pH ~6.4, 5mL/gal LiquidSoil Remediator, this is the final watering before harvest.
- checked both plants again for signs of budrot or PM, we good!
05/17: another 70% RH night...
- checked thoroughly the Star Pupil since she's the most bushy and super compact, still no sign of problems.
I'm aiming to harvest both plants on Wednesday, the Five Star is ready to go today! plus I'd rather not wait any longer than I have to with the super rainy weather we've been getting all week.
Imma need to find a way to lower my RH for real, and quite soon, as summer can get very humid here and Im trying to keep my electricity bill low so I don't plan on running the AC too too often.
On the bright side, these 2 strains are way more mold and PM resistant than I expected, the breeder recommends those 2 for high humidity and outdoors.
growing 5 star and it has turned purple with great bud formation in week 7 of flower - takes 8 weeks - also did star pupil but 5 star was the best all round and has that Pack-a-stand along with afghan and Thai _ going to get a very high yield for thisstrain
looks like "n" issues because of the leaves just flush and let plant get very dry before feeding - don't get me wrong great looking plants - these two strains can be difficult
@Azgrows,
have gotten good yields with a 30day veg not counting germination and seedling stages ( I start veg time when there are 3 "true" sets of leaves) I am on week 8 - at the end 60day flower - will be harvesting in 2 days There flowwer times are right on. Here are a few that I have: 5 Star - Star Pupil -Panama Goo -Fisheye OG -Acapulco Gold (a pure sativa heirloom/landrance) and GOJI Pupil
with a 30day flower = 3 foot plant = 1/2 / to 1 lb harvest
@airplane, for sure and thanks brotha!
They're in FF Happy Frog soil (with ~30% perlite), I only started feeding her some FF Big Bloom (barely any N) and some CalMag at 5 weeks. the recent clawing is due to feeding her some of FF's Grow Big once. As for watering I've been letting them getting very dry (3-5 days). I've been reading up Mass Medical Strains' tips and listening to his podcasts, very informative.
They're showing (I think) potassium deficiency but I'm not sure what to feed her without adding too much nitrogen (that's why I tried giving them some FF GrowBig)
Probably gonna veg them a full 8 weeks before flipping to flowering, it's gonna be hard to wait!
I noticed that you didn't get the purple pheno of the Star Pupil. How big were the buds? Large fat kolas or just clusters of bud at roughly a foot or less intervals?
If you can remember. I'm currently growing that strain right now and I've got two purple Phenos and two non purple phenos
watch the "N" with these plants - don't hardly give them much at all and also you can let them get very dry between feeding/watering - mean letting them go for 3-4 days no water
