I bought a 7 pack of these seeds when they were on sale at Canuk Seeds. 50%.. You can't beat that! Anyway, I heard this is great for insomnia so I thought I would give it a try. Seeds in the soil, now we wait
Pure Kush, Feminized from Canuk Seeds.
Not much going on. Just waiting for these plants to reach a point where I can start feeding them nutrients. I will probably wait until the second set of true leaves come in. Hopefully in about another week.
The second set of true leaves have developed and I transplanted this little lady into her final home. She is still a little too young to start feeding nutrients so she will just get water for another week. I might start adding a little calcium and magnesium to the water. However, that will be about it. Next week I will start a nutrient regime as well as adding a bacterial field to the soil.
Not a whole lot to add this week. Just waiting for the roots on this plant to develop. I have noticed when these plants have a hardy enough root system to take in nutrients, their growth just goes nuts. For me that usually happens in the 4th or 5th week from seed. Once they have started to really grow, I will bump up the nutrient regime to about 1ml/gal and add a bacterial and fungal field to the soil using RAW Microbes Grow Stage from NPK.
I left town for the holidays so I don't have any pics for the last 5 days. Hell, I don't even know what my plants look like right now. I have a friend watching my house and feeding my plants.
I started an aggressive veg growth feeding regime and added a microbial and fungal inoculation. I get back on Monday and I am really looking forward to seeing how my plants have grown.
BIG FAT INDICA LEAVES! These things are as big as my hand! She is short fat and wide! The stalk is almost as big as my index finger. I have to say, I am kind of impressed with the RAW microbes. I am not by any means an experienced farmer. However, based on the results of the last couple grows compared to this one, I can definitely see an improvement. I can't say if it's the annoculation for sure, or if it has to do with the strain. However, I will give it the benefit of the doubt.
PS... The TDS is so high because I might have put a little too much molasses on the mix.. I think. The plants don't seem to be reacting negatively to their solution. I will keep an eye on them over the next week or so.
Last week I upped the dose of epsom salt. I thought I was seeing signs of magnesium deficiency in the stems of my plants. It turns out not to be the case. The Pure Kush didn't seem to mind the extra magnesium. However, the C99 didn't like it at all. I eliminated the epsom salt all together. I think might be unnecessary. I gave this PK plant a nice little trim under her canopy. There are 14 side branches reaching for the sky. So as they grow I will be removing the large fan leaves to clear a path for them. Pretty soon the top that I trimmed will be long enough to start training and I can begin to form my canopy for flower. Maybe another month or so before flower.
I wasn't paying attention to the plant and she got a little dried out. I noticed that the lower leaves were stating to curls and She was just looking very unhealthy. I flushed the pot and defoliated all the growth below the top two nodes on each branch. gave her a couple days to recover from the defoliation and then added a feeding of nutrient solution. She has recovered nicely. However, there are some leaves that are still showing signs of damage but also improvement. That is the reason that this week is lacking in photos. I had to play doctor to the plant.
She has been flipped to flowering light schedule after a good flush and defoliation. This plant is looking really healthy. However, I'm not really impressed with the growth. She is not responding well to the LST and topping. I think It would be better to grow this plant in a SOG type grow. I still have 5 more seeds of this strain. I still have plenty of tries to find the best method of growing this strain.
I have been very busy over the last week so I haven't had much time to do any documentation. There isn't much going on at the moment so you aren't missing out on much. There have been a couple of leaves on this plant showing some strange markings. Nothing that is uniform nor reoccurring. I think these defects I show in the video are localized to just two or three leaves so I am not too concerned at the moment. I will keep an eye on her for the time being. Other than that, the plant looks really happy and is growing very well. Good color all around and getting very bushy.
This plant has kicked into gear! She grew 3 inches this week! The internodal growth is coming in a little weird. Maybe weird isn't the right word. However, the new little branches showing up are growing flat against the main branch and growing a ton of little additional offshoots. Essentially making a ton of leaves. Pretty typical of indicas from what I have experienced. However, this seems more than others that I have grown and I feel like this plant is going to be a real pain in the ass to harvest.
We are now in full bloom. I think the stretch has stopped for this plant. She has filled out nicely and her buds are really starting to fill out now. There are already a ton of sugars being produced on these buds. I can't wait to see what happens with her in the coming weeks.
She is now on full flower feeding schedule and I have added liquid KoolBloom to her diet. There are no signs of any plant stress and she is just loving life right now. I should have some time in about two weeks to make a video. By then, I hope that these buds have put on some weight to show off.
The leaves on the lower branches are spotting and turning yellow. I am not sure what is going on with it. I flushed the plant this morning until TDS read about 300. I then calibrate my Ph meter in case it was off. I Ph'd the feeding solution to about 6.4 and cut out any of the additives that contain nitrogen. I added some epsom salts and upped the CalMag because I think it is either calcium or magnesium deficient. Hopefully this goes away in a couple of days. I will have to keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't get worse.
I just added weeks 5 and 6 into one week because I didn't really have time to post last week.
There seems to be a problem with my plants that I can't quite figure out. The only commonality that I changed with both plants since the last grow is the microbe Inoculant that I bought from NPK. The Black Afghan that I harvested back in November didn't have these microbes added to the soil and it grew into a monster. I am beginning to wonder if these microbes are stealing food from my plant. Even though these microbes are sold as "flowering" microbes. I'm beginning to think they are starving my plants.
Also, I am technically 7 weeks from the flip to 12/12. So I may just be at the end of the flower period for these plants. I checked the Tricomes and they are mostly cloudy with about 5-10% amber. Normally at this point I would be cutting out the nutrients and letting her consume her leaves. However, she has already started to so that and now I don't know what to do. I just don't know. So... lesson learned. Stick to the basic nutes and stop trying to make this job harder than it needs to be. KISS
Just finished week 7 of flower ( Week 8 from 12/12 ). The yellowing of the leaves seems to have stopped spreading. The buds are starting to put on more weight and it looks like she has resumed normal growth behavior. The buds are super frosty! even if it does only produce a small yield, I think they will be very potent. I plan on harvesting in the next week or two. I'm going out of town next month and need to harvest before then. I am not entirely sure what happened to my plants. Something I did around the end of stretch stressed them out and they never really recovered. I am going to have review the diaries and make an educated guess as to what that was. Oh well. Better luck next time!
Plant grew well. I ran into some issue during flower and couldn't figure out what it was. I learned after I cut her down that the plant was root bound. I harvested what I could and took note of what went wrong. Will try again in November.
