(Day 7-14)
(February 14)
Got all my nutes for this run today. NP veg & bloom + green aminos + kelzyme xx calcium + boogie brew tea, EM1 microbes and method1 pps spray (Also using Alaska fish emulsion, blue sky organics dry compost tea, worm castings and organic cal mag)
Everything is looking really healthy and leaf color is on point. I’m still using the 108w blurple led and will switch to MH sometime next week. Some of the leaves are twisting up a bit and I’m almost certain this is an overwatering/lack of air problem. One plant is definitely genetically twisted though. I’ll ease up on the water and they should be fine. So far I’ve been misting just a little bit each day keeping the soil nice and moist. I’m trying to stretch all the plants before mid veg. I hear the more early stretch you have, the less less you have to prune/lollipop down the line so I want them about 4” tall.
I foliar sprayed a mix of microbes, aminos and kelzyme onto the babies and it left a white powdery layer on the leaves. I was scared I was having powdery mildew issues already but it’s just calcium dust. Speaking of PM, I’m going to be testing my method1 pps spray sometime next week.
I fed almost 3 times this week so I’m going to back off this next week. All it needs right now is cal mag, some microbes and a little added nitrogen. The 5-1-1 fish mix and a drop of cal mag is all I need right now.
I’m going to try adding a simple 5w fish tank aerator to one of the solo cups to see if it provides additional oxygen. If my theory is correct, I can give this plant as much water as I want without it getting overwatered or twisted. So I’m going to sop the soil wet and stick the little hose into the cup.
Edit: It 100% works. I overwatered every plant and they're all super droopy except for the one with supplemental air. It has untwisted, unhindered growth and seems to be growing faster too. This is the advantage to using coco/hydro over peat. Coco has way more air flow for the roots. I’m going to mix my next soil batch 50/50 coco/inoculated promix + perlite. If I see decent results from my air pump I might just grab 6-8 air stones and throw them in the 3g buckets. That could actually be a huge game changer, especially during veg in soil.
I’m going to be getting a co2 bottle sometime next week. I don’t run a filter in veg so it should be fine and add some good extra growth before I flip. I’m going to try to use it throughout flower as well.
Might cover up the transparent part of the solo cups with newspaper and tape tomorrow.
Can someone please tell me why under the grow conditions tab, all of my temperatures say 50F degrees? I keep trying to edit it but it just goes back to saying 50F... Anyone else having this problem? I tried it on mobile and desktop and it seems to be glitching out on both.
I'm dealing with the same issue with my 2 newest diaries your not alone. I'm going to message GD with the issue. You should also do the same. 👌 GD is good about correcting IT issues quickly.
