I am having root issues. They keep shriveling and dying off as soon as they emerge from the bottom of the net pots. Any ideas please people?

Penso che l'argilla espansa non va bene ... Trova un argilla apposta per Idro con palline sferiche e non deformate ... E si installa una pompa per annaffiare dal alto finché le radici non arrivano al acqua e soluzione

4 small water pumps, will do the same work as you manually pouring. Better even. But I'll admit probably not the most Energy efficient..

Increase your water level or pour water into the clay pebbles a couple times a day They're probably too dry

So I'm 1st week in flower now..... Is the crystal gelato a runt ??

it's a runt but probably not genetics, probably there was a lack of cal mag and especially a lack of chelation agents meaning the roots didnt get prunned enough so the root system stayed small, small roots small plants. In nature a plant's roots are always getting naturally prunned then regenerating, and this regeneration pushes out new growth also above ground. if it wasnt in flower i would recommend root prunning which is where you litterally clip approx 10% of the roots off with a pair of sizors, crazy but it works surprisingly well. Hope this helps ! 🚀

Did you solve your issue with the dying roots? I would suggest using black buckets, you want 100% no light in your roots or they will cause algae to form. Also what kind of nutrient mix do you use and at what strength do yo7 mix it?
Jumpjet34
Jumpjet34commented5 years ago
@KurbinTurbin, even these new roots seem very weak and brittle ..though not brown. And also all 4 plants are very pale lime green?
KurbinTurbin
KurbinTurbincommented5 years ago
@Jumpjet34, Lookin good, once those new roots get a bit bigger your growth should speed up hopefully. If the new roots turn brown again maybe try adding a drop or 2 of hydrogen peroxide to your water, it should kill the the bad bacteria.

@Jumpjet34, probably the "best" is beneficial bacteria like Great White which is expensive, just find your locally produced equivalent 🚀

@CRiSPrGrow, what is best to use as a chelating agent as I am using all organic nutrients?
CRiSPrGrow
CRiSPrGrowcommented5 years ago
@Jumpjet34, hey actually i see many of the same problems , hope you dont mind if i show you something ? like the yellowing on the edges of the leafs and the yellowing between the veins of the leafs that's magnesium deficiency. The plant with the dark green leafs that's N toxicity. the downward pointing leaf tips , that's root problems due to lack of chelation agents. Easy to fix these issues : add cal mag and a chelation agent. Always need three things in hydro : NPK, calmag and chelation agent... keep it simple but you do need all three ! great pH management so far though ! hope this helps ! 🚀

I have sprayed my buckets black now. I'm only using low strength grow nutes .... I trimmed back the rotten dead roots and now have new white roots showing and now signs of algae at all......growth up top is slow though.....but I'm hoping they are just recovering
