Auto Purple Kush - Canuk Seed bank. Hey Friends. I’m back with a diary that is going to be simple to follow and to the point on exactly what I’m doing. I don’t have all the expensive tools but enough to have a great harvest and potent buds. It will be simple and honest so you guys can understand my exact variables/conditions! I’m confident I’ll have good results but always open to criticism. Again simple and easy to mimic but always can improve. My set up - 3x3x6 Tent. Two 600watt full spectrum LED lights. They pull 300 real watts from the wall. 150W per light. This will be sufficient lighting for a 3x3x6 tent. Light burn at 21 inches on autoflowers. You would need a PAR meter and UV meter to perfect this aspect. 30 pint dehumidifier-this is on the Outside of my tent vented in & out with 6inch and 4inch ducting. Simply plugged into a humidity controller I have three 500ml humidifiers attached to walls inside the tent with metal clamps. plugged into the same humidity controller. Humidity stays consistent even at RH80%. This will keep your humidity in check in a 3x3x6 tent. Heating- one 800watt heater, attaches with metal clamp on tent pole above the plants, with oscillating fan blowing above it(distributes heat around quick and even) and one 200watt heater on the floor, I have three 6inch fans sucking hot air downwards at the base of my tent attached to the poles. (See in pics). Obviously it gets cold in the room my tent is in (0-5c degrees) or you wouldn’t need this much heat. Soil - Organic soil called kryptonite , mostly worm castings but all organic soil. 90% and 10% perlite. You just want good drainage with autoflowers, not thick and heavy. 1 N , 0.5P, 0.5k. Nutrient level on the bag. 3.5 Gallon fabric smart pots.11 inches deep 9 inches wide. I’m Torn between this myth of air pruning roots in fabric pots being beneficial and regular plastic pots... any insight would be greatly appreciated. They seed to work a1 for me so far so I haven’t switched. I don’t run any exhaust vents in my tent. Only 3 exhale365 Co2 bags, I have a third in there now but I’ve grown with just two previous. I will vent Air out and in slightly during the summer but I don’t need to with the temperatures where I live so it stays sealed 80% of the time. They work. Wish I had a Co2 meter to see what its running but I don’t. But I know this works. - if your temps get hot, unlike mine. With hot summers and when temps are hotter outside then desired tent temps an intake and outside fan won’t cut it, u you would need an air conditioner with ducting in and out of your tent so it wouldn’t take up space. Then plugged into your temperature controller. Or you would have to intake air from an air condition room that your tent air is in. Basically the air you intake has to be cooler the desired temperature. You start with controlling these elements it’s be hard pressed not to have a good harvest! (I will touch on watering technique, nutrients, training techniques, VDP and my tools that I have for this next week) Gotta keep ya interested somehow. Week 1 - Soaked seeds in small plastic cup for 18 hours at 30 degrees in darkness. Soaked final mediums with PH’d water then put seeds 1/4 inch below dirt light patted down. Kept tent temp at 30c and humidity at 80%. Sprouted in less the 48 hours. Temp first week in tent 30c Humidity 70% Lights 21 hours light and 3 dark. 30inches away roughly 400 PAR. My Par grid for my lights is in my pictures. They have received 500ml of water twice in the first 8 days. Not counting the initial soak when I plant them indirectly in the mediums. I soaked the mediums good before the leave the cup of water.

Leaf curling/twisting on first few sets of fan leaves on seedlings? What Causes it? Temp is 28-30c RH65%, watering 500 ml every 3-4 days, Ph6 water and has no nutrients. Par value on lights roughly 400.

Hey dude. Definitely feel like the pitting and twisting or your leaves is a heat issue. I suggest dropping down to 25-26 and see how they feel about it. Also, I know your lamp is at 30cm, but these little ones may not be taking it well and may need to slowing back off. Another quick move would be to jump your 21/3 cycle to an 18/6. It'll give em that extra long break they seem to be wanting for ATM. Definitely a non issue, just environmental parameters, transpiration is out of wack and some stress. Couple tweaks and I feel you'll be back on track👍 Cheers and good luck no matter your course of action 👌

hi buddy 👋 nice grow 👍 personnaly i am not an adept of big defoliation with auto's....due to their specifics very short flo cycles each big leaves are potentially a tank for mobiles nutrients..... but a little lollipopping is strongly recommended to avoid that's littles pop corn's buds sucks energy to upper buds. another great solution could be the addition of 2 vertical bar with a flo spectrum to ensure a really better penetration of light by the side.....it is not a pricéy solution (even if it's a cost) but demands to find the good chinese stuff . hope this helps to your reflexion 👊 have a good grow

@JinksyGrows thanks for the answer buddy I’ve decided it was a combination of thing causing my twisting, light was a little close (28inches) raised it to 30, temperature was too high reduced from 30-25c, RH% was slightly low raised from 65-70 and my soil was slightly hot for my seedlings. Oh or my well water has 150-200 Ppms of something in it, could have been the water was a little hot also .... my god the variables with a grow set up could and might drive a guy insane.... seemed to work though they look way less stressed out lol

@SirDillton, Anytime man. I get this at least once per grow (so far) when I'm trying to acclimate the tent. Fickle little girls man. And the variables! HA! I know man, it can drive a guy up the wall. Change one thing and you have to adjust or change 5 other things. When it's locked in, the girls are acclimated and you can just site back on watch...it's a good feeling and you'll hit that right away, if you already haven't 👍. Good luck in the coming days man. Happy grows 😀 Edit: I can't edit the answer once I post it, but I'm glad you saw that my "30cm" meant 30 inches, haha. 30 cm and they would be cooked. Thanks for seeing through the spelling mistake!

Btw, I run a closed system to. I have an 8' x 8' x 9' grow room I built. It's completely enclosed with AC/heat, dehumidifier, CO2, fans and air purifier. Peace

@SirDillton, temps will range between 72-83F as the room cools and then heats up between A/C cycles. 78F is ideal. Peace and health bro.

SirDillton
What do you keep your leaf temp at roughly? I think mine like it best 23-24c 74-75F range @Smowkabowl,

@SirDillton, PS: don't worry too much about all this VPD. First learn to control your environment especially during the different stages of growth. For instance, temperature/RH during germination and seedling is higher than during flower, so minor adjustments to those controls are needed through a plants life cycle. Once you master that you can start tweaking for VPD. VPD is very challenging without a professional set up, but you can always try to get close just like I use CO2. It's more like a supplement rather than a steroid. Besides, it seems every VPD chart I've seen has different numbers and ranges. You don't need VPD to grow kick ass buds. Fahrenheit 78 and RH 50% and you will grow just fine. Peace

Seems like you know what you're doing. You want to see something interesting, check out my grow with purple kush auto. Maybe its a pheno ..... compared to the others in the tent, my purple kush is the smallest plant, but it does seem like its getting better. I am changing water today, so I will make sure it starts the week with a good dose of cal mag and low pH. I will keep checking, but I am glad you have several of the same plant and you have that coloring in a couple, it might not be a deficiency...... You plants look nicer than mine right now..... im a bit more motivated to sit and stare at them to see if they grom more ;)

@SirDillton, Sounds good, the branches/leaves coming out from the bottom node were bugging me because they changed the angle the leaf was coming out and it was pressing it down, onto the pot brim and growing medium.... took those off. I will look to see if I can bend some stuff to help the top/canopy before I trim. Both Autos have a similar situation, so I can be conscience of LST over trimming.

I would just cut a couple leafs off every 2-3 days if I were you, it can really stress an autoflower out when you chop a bunch of leaves off, I’d try tying him down first before defoliation. @Fleetwood,

I see the light green plants stayed light green. Mine has too, and also stretched very sativa like, even though leaves look broad. The buds are dark purple and some parts of the leaves have begun to turn purple, I will highlight it when I take pictures tomorrow. I hope my buds get as completely purple as yours.

Yup they have green buds too. It looks like your auto purple kush is starting to turn purple now. @Fleetwood,

This is ashiny well preapred and well setup grow. Girls look very good. The temperature would be better under 28 degree. you can rise the humidity so they can bear the warm temps better I let you a VPD chart here so you con look wich rh you should achieve http://www.just4growers.com/media/23631/vpd_2degree.gif

Yeah I was trying to push the limit on higher temps to see if they had a little bit faster growth out of the gate but it looks to me that it’s just stressing them out! Back to 24-25 c see if they relax a little bit. I find seedlings have a mind of there own sometimes though , as long as there green and growing they usually pan out just Fine! @Mrs_Larimar,
