Early Miss Journal

Alright guys this is my first post and a little behind the eight ball on this one. I decided to jump in and give my first shot at growing indoors. After looking through the crop king catalog at the local seed shop I settled on early miss. I bought it based on claims of High yields, and reasonably high THC content. I decided to grow one just to see how it would go, but decided to germinate 2 just incase one was a dud. After about 3 days the first one sprouted, and about 2 days after, the other one did as well (~January 1, 2020). I’ve had them under some claimed 1000w leds from china for approximately 12 weeks now. I’m guessing they are around week 6 of flowering. Over all an easy grow until now, I started experiencing a cal/mag deficiency. I think it started when I over did the fox farms one watering. I started to get brown dry rust spots on the fan leaves. I have been slowly feeding them dolomitic like to try and help the ph. It seems to be helping a bit. Still overall healthy looking plants, I will update the grow from now till harvest. I started a new diary with the remaining early miss seeds, which Started soaking today, so I will have a full journal start to finish, I’ll update a link once they sprout. Not much to report this week. One of the China led panels kicked the bucket. I’ll be looking at buying a proper grow light for the next generation of Early Miss I started. Any suggestions for a decent grow light that won’t break the bank? Buds are frosting up nice, overall growth I think has slowed right down, they aren’t drinking as much and I haven’t seen any new bud growth in awhile. The hairs on the bottom buds are starting to turn. from here on out Ill just monitor and nurse them till harvest. I decided to take a few bud shots and just monitor them this week. Cheers.

Little early on the update, (although I will try to make it every week) but from here on out I think it might be a day by day inspection. I cut the Nutes back to 10 ml/L per 4 litres of water from ~20ml per 4L water, and knocked the lights down from 19 to 16 hrs to try and help them along. Out of the two plants the one that sprouted, germinated and flowered first, is almost done. The overall structure of the plant is very straight and to the point. The plant grew, put out the branches and budded pretty much in the same shape as it is now. The second plant was a late start, many leaves and branches and later finish. I never once pruned or cut leaves until the other day, always tucked fans if they were in the way and always LST. Most defiantly the second plant was a lot more vigorous than the first. That being said; these plants are approximately on week 8/9 of flowering and still very green. I cut off a few fan leaves (see photo) that were very crispy and brown (suspect LED’s and cal mag deficiency)just to kinda see what I’m working with. The second plant (slower) has a lot more bud structure and denser colas, although not done, defiantly a higher yield. The first, with a few dense buds are mainly resin filled with a lot more air between the bud sites. One of my led panels kicked the bucket during flowering so I purchased a full spectrum 1000w Samsung chip panel from ali express. Hopefully it will get here sooner than later because I have a new gen of early Miss starting. Chances are with the snail mail now I may be waiting a bit. This week is all about ripeness, although I can see the lower bud white pistols turning red the overall growth has pretty much slowed. What do you guys think? Cheers. Today was chopping day for the first Early Miss of my January grow. I fed her water for the last week or so and decided to pull the plug today. While chopping I found quite a bit of hard empty pods where additional buds should have come out but the hairs just shrivelled back inside, so it was better now than later. I trimmed it up today and will leave it to dry. Overall not a ton of bud growth on this plant, as I said I have two growing. The second plant filled out a lot more and I can expect a bigger yield. Out of the two, the one I cut today was the runt, minimal leaves and branches with one growth spurt. The second grew exactly how it should.. a weed. I’ll do a final weigh in and all the other stuff associated with the harvest in approximately 2-3weeks when the other plant finishes up. Cheers. A lot has happened in the last week. I got an actual grow tent and a better light for my next grows. Today was harvest day for my last early Miss. compared to the first plant, this one put out. The first was scragglier than this one, both grown in the same conditions but this one prevailed. The root mass in the first one barely dug into the surface, and as you can see in this one, it filled the pot. First plant weigh in was about 10g, although I’m closing this diary, after harvesting today I assume I probably got 1-1.5oz from today’s harvest. Overall approximately 2oz /2 plants. Considering this is my first indoor grow, I am happy with the outcome. I made a lot of mistakes that I won’t Carry over to my next grow. About 8 weeks flowering time and about 3.5 months from seed. Would I grow this again? Defiantly. The pungent odour and the deisely, skunnky taste left in your mouth after exhale will defiantly be bringing you back for more. Cheers.
