3/21:
I soaked a seed for 5 minutes in some bacto and endoboost solution and planted it into a spongepot soaked in the same solution.
If it takes off, it will be transplanted into a starter pot with FoxFarms Light Warrior mix and a pinch of cooked soil for 10 days or so, then I'll transplant it into a 1-gallon pot. I'll be growing it indoors under LED lights for a couple weeks before taking it outdoors. I'll either transplant it into a 5 or 10 gallon pot at that point.
This is an experimental grow in that the site where she will be grown only gets about 4-5 hours of direct sun per day. I had scrawny plants last time I tried it, but this time,I'm gonna be running a some 150w waterproof outdoor grow lights (3200k) all during the day to increase their average PAR values. I cant run the lights past dusk or risk detection, but I'm optimistic that she'll produce well enough..🙏
3/30:
The first one didn't pop, so I've got the other two soaking overnight in a kelp, humic acid, endoboost, and bacto concoction.
3/31:
I planted them into spongepots today and put them in under a dome. I sprinkled a little extra endoboost in the holes...fingers crossed..
4/4:
One seedling sprouted and I put it into a starter cup.
4/9:
She's growing!
4/12:
She's looking great! Very vigorous grower.
I planted her into a 1-gallon pot today.
4/14:
She's growing well now. I'll probably start foliar applications tomorrow.
4/15:
I fed her a little big bloom, humic acid, grow big, boomerang, and liquid molasses. I also sprayed her down with big bloom and fulvic acid.
4/17:
I watered her today and added a little humic acid and silica.
4/19:
I foliar fed her today.
4/20:
I fed her with full strength veg nutes for the first time today....it's ON!
4/22:
I FIM'd her today and gave her about 20oz of water with cal-mag, humic acid, and boomerang and foliar fed with big bloom and fulvic acid.
Later, I rinsed off all the plants with a stiff stream of filtered water in preparation for tomorrow.
4/23:
Today was BoomBoom Spray day! I just love how visible the growth is the day after a BoomBoom Spray day!😲
Tomorrow I'll spray her down with Axiom Harpin a|b proteins. Tomorrow, I'll probably move her into my little tent for another week or so. Then she's gonna take off... to the great outdoors.
4/24:
I did a foliar application of Harpin proteins today and I fed them with about 1/4-gallon each. I observed that they are both popping pistils already. I'll start increasing P and K with the next feeding. I turned on the 3rd pair of QB's and bud boosters today and removed all the blues and cool whites from the garden.
4/25:
Was busy with life, but checked on her a couple of times. She's happy.
Last day of week 3-
4/26:
I watered her with about a quarter-gallon including humic acid, cal-mag, liquid molasses, liquid kelp, and endoboost.
The autos took over the closet, so she and the other photoperiod seedlings and clones are in the tiny tent until next weekend.
At that point, I think I've decided to grow this plant and the FFT#5 in the tiny tent under about 300w. I'll transplant them both to 5 gallon pots next weekend and flip to 12/12.
4/27:
She is flourishing in the tiny tent, so hopefully I can get her trained out some before I flip to flower.👍
4/28:
I did a bunch of leaf-tucking and foliar fed with big bloom, grow big, silica, and fulvic acid. I also fed her about 32oz of water with a lot of everyting..gonna be alright.😉
4/29:
I transplanted her into a 5 gallon pot with a handful of fresh compost and myco. It took some effort to remove her rootball from the 1 gallon pot. Excellent root system already!
She spent the afternoon in direct sunlight, then I took her indoors and put her into the closet so she'd have more preliminary exposure to UV-A and UV-B.
4/30:
Today was her last night indoors..hopefully she's ready for the big-time.
5/1:
I gave her about 1/2 gallon of water with humic acid, boomerang, cal-mag, and liquid kelp. Her pot is amended with Happy Frog Fruit & Veggie dry fertilizer, so she should be good for a month or so before I have to start really feeding her. Tonight was her first night outdoors.
5/2:
She's looking very perky after the 5 hours of direct sunlight she got yesterday. I did a foliar application of boom boom spray this morning as the sun was coming up.
I'll spray her down with Axiom at dusk.
5/4:
Her two tops suddenly stretched a few inches. I'll tie them down in the next couple of days and when they get to the third node, I'll top them again.
I gave her a little water with myco, kelp, molasses, cal-mag, silica, and humic acid.
5/6:
I fed her about a gallon of water with boomerang, grow big, big bloom, cal-mag, silica, and humic acid. This was the last time I'll give her any grow big or boomerang...there's plenty of good stuff to support good growth for at least a month in the Happy Frog dry fertilizer I'm using.
I did a little LST on her today...split those two main colas really well and tied them into horizontal positions on opposite sides of the pot. I used gorilla wood glue to seal the split.
5/7:
I foliar fed with big bloom, grow big, silica, fulvic acid, and molasses.
5/8:
I did a foliar application of Axiom harpin proteins.
5/9:
I did a foliar application of boom boom spray.
5/10:
She's growing very well now, so I topped all her main shoots and tied them them down to encourage the lower branches to compete for apical dominance.
I'll water her tomorrow if it doesn't rain.
That's it for week 5
5/11 - 5/17:
I have her in full LST submission..sprawling nicely.👌
I watered her once really well at the start of the week with endoboost, humic acid, silica, cal-mag, molasses, and big bloom...and a little bit of grow big.
I foliar fed with boom boom spray one day, and a solution of fulvic acid, cal-mag, big bloom, sweet & sticky, and silica a few days.
It rained really heavy on the night of the 15th, so I won't be watering again anytime soon.
All her topped shoots are growing out now. I'll have enough soil for a few plants in 3 gallon pots, and from what everybody says, I'd be very happy with some more jars of #7. I spent all 3 seeds to grow this one plant, so I'll try rooting some clones of her soon...👈
This week I received my new portable outdoor misting fan and hoses and got it set up on a timer with just airflow while the lights are on, and once the temps reach about 95f regularly, I'll have my hose timer let 10 minutes of water every 2 hours get misted across the canopy. It should lower the "real feel" by about 25-30 degrees and increase RH considerably. Also hoping that the constant airflow will make them stronger and keep insects off of them somewhat. It will also enable me to easily give them a blow dry if it rains in late flower. But wait...that's not all....it's also gonna be very much more enjoyable for me to sit in the garden and do my thang. 👍
I found a waterproof 200w 3000k light that has two panels that can be independently aimed in different directions. It covers a 3' x 4' area very well. It gets hot as hell, but..it's outdoors, so....
All total, that's 470w watts in 24 sq ft that i'm supplementing with. I've got very vigorous growth, so it seems to be doing the trick,
5/18:
I did a little more LST on her today just to keep the canopy even. I drizzled some more wood glue into the mainstem split to ensure that it's sealed up and hardened off, but I'll still add some bamboo supports for both of those tops.
5/19:
WTF?!? I was seeing a few pre-flower pistils here and there, but today it's looking like she's trying to flower along with every other plant in the outdoor garden! All I can figure is that being vegged under 24/0 for a month and then being put outside at just the wrong time under 14/10, they think it's becoming winter. I sure hope she notices the days getting longer and goes back to vegging.🙏 I wanted to beast her all the way out and finish up in late summer, and it's still only fuckin Spring!
5/20 - 5/24:
She is really thriving. I did a little more LST on her before the rain started. It rained every day this week for at least a few hours, but I did manage to top-dress her pot with cavern culture and azomite between showers. I also did a foliar application with MicroLife Maximum Blooms that didn't get rainwashed off for about seven hours...
That's it for week #7-
5/25:
It rained again today for most of the day, but I managed to get back out there and take some photos after it let up. I also shot a short video early in the a.m while it was sprinkling and the lights were on...
I heard that this strain flowers really fast, but I really don't think she can finish before June 21 (the summer solstice). The other two seedlings (FFT#5 and FFT#6) are in the same boat. The 5 clones outdoors might be able to finish before they get the signal to reveg. I may end up bringing as many of them as I can fit into my closet to finish and starting another batch of beans to grow outdoors this summer...
5/26 - 5/31:
I did some training on her early in the week between rain showers, and foliar fed with Microlife maximum bloom formula. She was looking a little N deficient, so I assume the dry amendments have petered out. I top-fed her with another couple tablespoons of cavern culture and on the 31st, they were dry enough to feed them. I gave them big bloom, tiger bloom, grow big, beastie bloomz, silica, endoboost, signal, humic acid, liquid kelp/fish emulsion, and liquid molasses.
It just feels so strange that I'll be harvesting outdoor photos in June!?!
That's it for week 8-
6/1:
I burnt a few tops by lowering the lights too much...so I raised them back up again and sprayed her really well with boom boom spray.
I also tied down her branches some more.
6/3:
I swapped out the two 60w cool white lights(6500k) with two 60w warm white lights(3000k)
She's flowering, but probably not fast enough to beat the solstice. She'll probably end up in my closet to finish along with the other three seed-grown plants in the outdoor garden.
6/7:
I fed her about a gallon of water with all the good stuff.
7/6:
I missed a week of updates on this plant, but here it is in a nutshell....she lost a lot of foliage from a well-coordinated terrorist attack of spider mites and an air assault from tiny green grasshoppers., so I brought her and a few clones indoors in my closet under the UV and quantum boards. I treated her for mites several times and fed her only boomerang one time, then added cha ching the next time. I've just been foliar feeding her with Microlife Maximum Blooms. She fattened up a little bit over the course of the week, and I need to be finished with this grow, so it is what it is...I'll flush her along with the 3 remaining clones tomorrow, and after another 3-4 days, she'll get the axe.
7/10:
I harvested her tonight and washed her buds. She's hanging to dry now in 72f at about 55% humidity.
She's super greasy and smells different than any of the other FFT's I've grown to date.
