Used the GH ph color "meter" drops but maybe it was a bit imprecise. The GH color mix showed dark blue which I guess is around 8.5. From week 4 I had bought a "real" ph meter (cheap Chinese off Amazon), and then my filtered tap water was 7.5.
I guess I stunted it by over watering. Water is only roughly ph corrected with the ph down kit. EC 0.80 and 400ppm filtered tap water. I don't think the filter is actually filtering anything either cause the ec and ppm is exactly the same with or without filter.
Transplanted from 1 gal fabric lots to 3 gal fabric pots. I still didn't know how to properly soak coco in water so most of the coco fell off when I tried to move the plant into the bigger fabric pot. I'll water much better next time before a transplant.. or rather just go from the jiffy pot to 3 gallon pot directly. I think it could have grown much better without this transplant. My other plant right next to it had a much more stable growth.
I wanted to update and finish this diary so here we go.
I was using the Jane app as a diary but that was before I found Growdiaries. I'm not sure why I stopped using GrowDiaries but I definitely prefer it over Jane.
Jane sucks in a few ways. The images are not dated correctly when you download them, they are not high quality unless you pay, and it's not as social as here.
So I have no idea why I stopped using GrowDiaries, I should have just continued using it instead of Jane.
Anyway, so I had bought a ton of nutrients from a guy that had just closed a growshop, check Nutrients list.
I started using these not knowing if there were all useful for the grow.
Didn't matter, I got em extremely cheap and it seems I only used very little of it.
I was also a regular on the CocoForCannabis chats which is where I got great guidance to finish the grow.
So for this week 5, everything is getting along steadily, not much to comment.
Adjusted the pH of the water to be around 6 to 6,5 for coco.
Weeks 6-7-8 should probably have been better controlled. I'll definitely control the heights better for the next grow.
I didn't defoliate, top nor supercrop. I'll do that for the next grow.
For weeks 9-10-11-12: It was now May 2020 and the ambient temperatures combined with no exhaust fans were raising temperatures to almost 30 degrees celcius. Way too much. So I rushed to find an oscillating fan and also a so-called inline fan with carbon filter for the smells that started to develop and for exhaust of hot air, trying to control too high temps.
It was my first grow so I thought the dark colors were good news, but apparently it was bud rot developing because of the high temperatures over the summer.
I removed the 3-4-5 sites that had bud rot, trying to control it from spreading and hoping the plant would finish soon so I could harvest it before it ruined the whole harvest.
Again, my first grow and I was a bit too slow to react.
But I definitely know the warning signs now and have lots of fans for proper air circulation for the next grow.
Took some more microscope shots. Since I had 1x Medical Mass (1:1 THC:CBD), and 1x Pineapple Express with mostly THC, I wanted to maximize benefits from both. I was not sure when to have maximum amounts of both THC and CBD.
I figured I couldn't go entirely wrong if I waited until half of the trichomes had amber and the other half milky.
When is CBD AND THC the highest?
When to harvest THC:CBD 1:1 plants? I'd like to know that.
I figured nothing could go wrong with 50% amber / 50% milky trichomes.
Harvest day, Medical Mass: Huge buds and no traumas but got bud rot because of too high temps. The best I've ever smoked.
Harvest day, Pineapplex Express: Got an early trauma when transplanting but handled it beautifully. Potent smoke.
Pretty satisfied for a first grow, and I have a lot of changes for my 2nd grow!
Overall, a great grow but not a lot of updating here om GrowDiaries which I am changing completely for the next grow.
I'll be keeping up with the updates a lot better!
