2/12 - Day 49 - repotted her to her final pot, a 4 gallon smartpot. She seemed to have responded to the topping well. However, as is clear in the pics with the dark shiny leathery leaves, I think I upped my nitrogen too much. So I will just be giving plain watering for a bit. The fresh FFOF soil will have plenty of N in it anyways. But the extra nitrogen might be why she's not growing as rapidly as I had hoped. But overall she seems to be doing good.
2/15 - Day 52 - really starting to take off now! Trimmed a few big leaves from the top to get more light to the bud sites. The topping worked great and she's really flourishing in her new pot. Will most likely do another plain watering next cycle, or 1/8 strength nutes at most. Excited to see her really take off now, a few more weeks and I'll flip her. Can't wait too long because I just don't have a ton of room once she stretches.
Bet She'll bounce back! One thing I've noticed about Lady's that get stuck in seedling phase with issues: If they do pull through, the entire plant ends up with very dense internodal spacing which leads to tons of Bud sites and a great yield! I'll be following along to see how things go for you 👍
@TOTEM, lol yeah, I fucked up somewhere but it's too late to change now. So I'm about a week behind. I'd care more if the timing of this grow wasn't all fucky anyways with the weird stalled start it had. So really it's at like 6 or 7 weeks of actual growth. meh.
Beautiful growth on this girl! The buds look great!
How do you water your plants? From the pictures, it looks like you fill up the ice cooler and let the water soak up from the bottom?
I see your concern with the leaves. Hopefully that will take care of the problem. When you tested the water, what did it show? I remember that fish supply stores would sell water test kits for just about anything. I know they would have tests for calcium, nitrates, and such.
@Metalhead_Literally, Aha! I knew there was something going on.
The test kits from pet stores will only do droplets as well. If you want a lot of accuracy, you will need something more digital and those can be pricey. The color coded tests are fine. They give you a pretty accurate reading. Close enough to determine deficiencies.
I doubt the problem is ph because those AN nutes are ph balanced. I use them, and my ph is always spot on. You would've seen that when you tested your water or run-off.
BTW, I looked at your entry for last week, and you stopped using Big Bud which was giving you Phosphorous and Potassium. Could either of those be the culprit? Just brainstorming.
@Quexos, I have a grate to elevate the pots in the cooler, so I water the pots directly and the cooler just catches the runoff for me to dump out.
I haven't tested the water, but that's not a bad idea. I'll have to see if I can find a kit. I do the pH testing but I just have the water and droplet test so that's not accurate imo.
Great bud shots this week! A lot of red pistils. I think you'll be happy with your harvest. The buds look very compact.
I'd continue flushing for a little bit. My biggest concern is leaving nutrients in the bud before harvesting and ruining the flavor. Since you have a bit of time, you can continue to flush her out so you get a better flavor to your bud.
She’s growing quite well! If this weed will be just for you, then you’re right: don’t think about the yield, because you’ll get some good amount anyways! The plant is looking gorgeous! Topping worked like a charm and that stretch is hard to control in sativas like this. Just my two cents: you shouldn’t worry about those popcorns, because they’re not that buried as you say! I think you wouldn’t damage her if you removed some leaves on the top. She has many leaves! You could also think about lollipopping on parts that will never be reached by light, but I would start with removing some leaves on the top, before. Let me know what you think about it. Happy growing bud!
