12/28 - Day 4 - my first attempt at growing a photoperiod! We'll see how it goes! Battling super low RH so I think she'll be slow to start. Hoping to ramp up the RH once my auto finishes next week and I take her out of the tent. Wish me luck!
1/22 - Day 28 - my seedling was stuck at the week 1 phase for like 3 weeks due to my super low RH. It was still alive so I decided to move it to a smaller container for now and made a little humidity dome. That did the trick! She's as actually growing now and I think I'll be transplanting her back to the 1 gallon pot soon. Let's hope the delayed seedling state doesn't fuck her up too bad, but I have plenty of time to let her veg. And now that I harvested my other plant, I can add a humidifier in the tent as well.
1/24 - Day 30 - plant was more rootbound than I expected. So I transplanted her from the solo cup to a 1 gal smart pot, and watered with a little bit of nutes. I plan to move up to a 3 gal or 5 gal eventually.
1/25 - Day 31 - one day after transplanting. Seems to be doing fine, a little droopy but I'm sure that's just part of the adjustment process.
2/3 - Day 40 - alright, she's taking off now! Got a humidifier too and that's making a world of difference. She's looking great, although a bit compact, but with my lack of room vertically, that's not a bad thing. Will probably top her real soon. Sorry for the sporadic updates, life is just hectic right now!
2/12 - Day 49 - repotted her to her final pot, a 4 gallon smartpot. She seemed to have responded to the topping well. However, as is clear in the pics with the dark shiny leathery leaves, I think I upped my nitrogen too much. So I will just be giving plain watering for a bit. The fresh FFOF soil will have plenty of N in it anyways. But the extra nitrogen might be why she's not growing as rapidly as I had hoped. But overall she seems to be doing good.
2/15 - Day 52 - really starting to take off now! Trimmed a few big leaves from the top to get more light to the bud sites. The topping worked great and she's really flourishing in her new pot. Will most likely do another plain watering next cycle, or 1/8 strength nutes at most. Excited to see her really take off now, a few more weeks and I'll flip her. Can't wait too long because I just don't have a ton of room once she stretches.
2/21 - Day 58 - She's doing great! No issues at all at the moment. I gave her a tiny haircut again but I think will let her recover for a few days and then flip her. Not showing preflower yet but I gotta flip soon or I'll run out of space once she stretches. But so far I'm a big fan of the photo grow, I like not having to stress about defoliating and topping, vs with an auto I'm always paranoid of stunting the plant.
3/16 Day 81 - sorry its been a while. She's doing great. Flipped her a few weeks ago and she's really starting to flower now. Still doing minimal nutes, just a tiny bit of cal-mag last watering and plain before that. Really want to make sure I avoid the N tox I've dealt with with my previous grows. But overall no complaints, might defoliate her soon but I don't want to stunt her. Haven't decided yet.
3/26 - decided on the haircut, and it worked out perfectly. Definitely got some more light to lower bud sites and they've perked up significantly. There will still be a lot of popcorn nugs as a lot remained buried, but I didn't want to cut too many leaves off and I think the one time haircut will be enough. I'd rather have some wasted popcorn nugs that I can hash up rather than keep stressing the whole plant. I'll get enough yield for myself most likely anyways. But overall she's doing great, still going very light on the nutes and she's doing well. Starting to get a skunky smell to her too with is nice.
3/31 - Day 96 - everything seems to be going great. Just chugging along. Unfortunately my tent is a bit crowded at the moment, but that's the only complaint so far.
4/10 - Day 106 - still bulking up nicely. Showing a small deficiency now though. Not sure if it's a cal-mag situation or maybe a phosphorus deficiency. Might be PH related too. Watered with the trio and a little bit of cal-mag, let's see if that stops the bleeding. But besides that she looks great and is really starting to smell now. Super sticky too!
4/23 - Day 119 - I think she's close to done. I think whatever caused the leaves to get all fucky also stopped her from bulking up too much more. Not a huge change from a few days ago. So I think I'll chop her soon, a few calyxs has a little bit of amber. Did plain watering today, will do one more of those and then either chop or one more watering after that and then chop. Either way, pretty disappointing that she got messed up when she did because I'm sure it greatly affected my final yield. Oh well, it'll still be plenty for me I'm sure.
Bet She'll bounce back! One thing I've noticed about Lady's that get stuck in seedling phase with issues: If they do pull through, the entire plant ends up with very dense internodal spacing which leads to tons of Bud sites and a great yield! I'll be following along to see how things go for you 👍
@TOTEM, lol yeah, I fucked up somewhere but it's too late to change now. So I'm about a week behind. I'd care more if the timing of this grow wasn't all fucky anyways with the weird stalled start it had. So really it's at like 6 or 7 weeks of actual growth. meh.
Beautiful growth on this girl! The buds look great!
How do you water your plants? From the pictures, it looks like you fill up the ice cooler and let the water soak up from the bottom?
I see your concern with the leaves. Hopefully that will take care of the problem. When you tested the water, what did it show? I remember that fish supply stores would sell water test kits for just about anything. I know they would have tests for calcium, nitrates, and such.
@Metalhead_Literally, Aha! I knew there was something going on.
The test kits from pet stores will only do droplets as well. If you want a lot of accuracy, you will need something more digital and those can be pricey. The color coded tests are fine. They give you a pretty accurate reading. Close enough to determine deficiencies.
I doubt the problem is ph because those AN nutes are ph balanced. I use them, and my ph is always spot on. You would've seen that when you tested your water or run-off.
BTW, I looked at your entry for last week, and you stopped using Big Bud which was giving you Phosphorous and Potassium. Could either of those be the culprit? Just brainstorming.
@Quexos, I have a grate to elevate the pots in the cooler, so I water the pots directly and the cooler just catches the runoff for me to dump out.
I haven't tested the water, but that's not a bad idea. I'll have to see if I can find a kit. I do the pH testing but I just have the water and droplet test so that's not accurate imo.
Great bud shots this week! A lot of red pistils. I think you'll be happy with your harvest. The buds look very compact.
I'd continue flushing for a little bit. My biggest concern is leaving nutrients in the bud before harvesting and ruining the flavor. Since you have a bit of time, you can continue to flush her out so you get a better flavor to your bud.
She’s growing quite well! If this weed will be just for you, then you’re right: don’t think about the yield, because you’ll get some good amount anyways! The plant is looking gorgeous! Topping worked like a charm and that stretch is hard to control in sativas like this. Just my two cents: you shouldn’t worry about those popcorns, because they’re not that buried as you say! I think you wouldn’t damage her if you removed some leaves on the top. She has many leaves! You could also think about lollipopping on parts that will never be reached by light, but I would start with removing some leaves on the top, before. Let me know what you think about it. Happy growing bud!
