Chocolate Mint OG + Z&Z

BetaVulgaris If you prefer English, just tell me. I'll start in German if you don't mind. Hey! This is my first indoor grow. I already have some experience with greenhouse cultivation, so I'm starting off just like always without much fuss. If I mess up, please let me know. ;+) Sowing on 04/01/2020 directly in Canna Seed Mix with Plagron Seedbooster Plus. Seeds sprouted on 04/04/2020. After that, I watered with Canna Rhizotonic.

BetaVulgaris It's growing along just fine. The third set of leaves is forming, without the plants gaining much height. If needed, I've watered with Canna Rhizotonic. All in all, the Z&Z looks more vigorous than the Chocolate Mint OG. You can also see this in the root system; the Z&Z has more roots growing out of the Airpot than the CMOG.

BetaVulgaris I repotted both plants into Plagron Royalmix in the middle of the week. Now they're in 10-liter Airpots. Now, two days after repotting, the two already look significantly better. On Sunday, there will be new photos, and my new pro-emit sunflow should be there too. :+))) So, the new LED is here, and it's running great. I think the plants look good again now.

BetaVulgaris This week I topped the plants above the third node and removed all growth except for the leaves and side shoots at the third node. The Sunflow LED is running excellently, no comparison to my old LED, and that wasn't a cheap LED either. The plants are growing significantly faster under the new LED. Excellent! The investment was worth it. I haven't fertilized because the soil is pre-fertilized for six weeks. You can see it too, the older leaves are quite dark green.

BetaVulgaris The plants are really growing quickly, thanks to Sunflow! ;+) At the end of this week, I removed leaves and side shoots at the second node of both main stems on each plant. I don't need those; I don't want the plant to put energy into them. Next week, I will top all the main stems behind the third node, leaving eight shoots on each plant. I'll then send them into flowering once the plants have grown a bit more.

BetaVulgaris The week starts with topping the two main shoots on each plant just behind the third node. I removed all growth at the second node of the main shoots. There are eight shoots left per plant that should now grow until about half of the desired final height is reached. By the end of the week, the plants have made good progress again. I haven't done anything else except evenly distribute the eight shoots per plant using LST and keep them at the same height. I had the Sunflow set to 100W and have now turned it up to 150W. There are now quite a few leaves that can absorb the light. Let's see how and if the growth speeds up now. I'm quite satisfied so far. ;+) What do you think about it?

BetaVulgaris This week, before switching to 12/12, I defoliated the plants one last time. At the beginning of the week, I removed everything from the stems except for the top three nodes and tied everything nicely to the same height.

BetaVulgaris This week there wasn't much to do except watch the plants stretch. I've slowly started fertilizing since six weeks are up and the pre-fertilization of the soil is coming to an end. Also, I'm using Alga Bloom, and it takes some time until it's available for the plants.

BetaVulgaris This week, the plants have grown another 5 cm in height, and the buds are slowly becoming visible. I ordered CalMag, it should be here by the beginning of week 3 to address the obvious deficiency. Next time, I need to start fertilizing earlier, despite the well-fertilized soil, so I don't miss the mark. And CalMag fertilizer from the start, because the tap water here is so soft. Let's see when the effects of the organic fertilizers I just applied kick in. The plants could really benefit from a slightly darker green color. But overall, the plants look pretty good and are thriving beautifully.

BetaVulgaris The stretch of the plants seems to be over. The Z&Z is 5 cm taller than the CMOG. The scent is increasing, and when you touch some resin with your fingers and smell it, the two strains smell exactly as described by the breeders. Wonderful! As for the nutrients, I stick to the Biobizz schedule and also add 1 ml/l of Biobizz CalMag. Unfortunately, I can't select this nutrient above, as it hasn't been added to the homepage by the operators yet. Please change that!

BetaVulgaris Except for a few leaf spots on the CMOG, nothing special this week. It's probably still a CalMag deficiency according to one grower's statement. That's why I've increased the dose of Biobizz CalMag again. The trichomes are already sparkling quite nicely, and the smell in the tent is rather weak. With the Z&Z, a few pistils are starting to change color very slowly. According to the breeder, the flowering duration for both strains is about eight weeks each, so it's halfway through flowering. I assume the buds should start getting fatter now.

BetaVulgaris Not much new this week. Just watching it grow. The leaves of the plants seem to be gradually changing color; it's probably heading towards autumn. The leaves of the CMOG are turning purple. According to the breeder, the Z&Z has three weeks of flowering left and the CMOG has four weeks. I will stop feeding the Z&Z after the sixth week of flowering and only give water. I'm not sure yet if I will flush them.

BetaVulgaris The sixth week of flowering is over. The foliage of both plants is becoming more autumnal. From now on, the Z&Z will only get water for its last 10 to 14 days. Its trichomes are mostly milky now, but I'm waiting until the first trichomes turn amber before I harvest it. The CMOG has the first pistils slightly brownish, so I will fertilize it for another week and then switch to pure water as well. Overall, the buds are getting fatter; the Z&Z is more elongated and stretched, while the CMOG is shorter and stockier. In any case, both are very nice to look at, and the smell in the tent is getting better and better, but it's not too strong. I'm very satisfied! 😌👌👍

BetaVulgaris The Z&Z has only been getting water for a week now. You can see it. Its trichomes are almost all milky and some are turning amber. I'll give it another week, then I'll harvest it. The breeder's information about the flowering duration is spot on. The CMOG is starting to change the color of its pistils. I'll probably fertilize it for another week and then switch to water as well. According to the breeder, it should still flower for about 3 weeks. The smell in the tent is getting stronger and it's going pretty well, I think. 👍

BetaVulgaris The harvest went super fast, there were only a few leaves to remove. That was very pleasant. I'm satisfied with the yield; together with the CMOG, it should be around 100 grams. Not too bad with a 150-watt LED, I think. Next time will be even better because the plants suffered a bit from CalMag deficiency before I could address it. I wouldn't have thought so, but apparently my tap water here is just way too soft. That means CalMag nutrients from the start in the next grow. BetaVulgaris The eighth week of flowering is over. I harvested the Z&Z, and I'm very satisfied with it. 245 g fresh weight, so there should be about 40 to 50 g of rock-hard buds coming out. 😁 The breeder's information on the duration of flowering was spot on. The CMOG is starting to change the color of its pistils. I estimate it should be ready in about two weeks. So from today, just water for the lady. The CMOG will weigh more than the Z&Z from what I see. It's going well! 👍

BetaVulgaris For a week now, there's only been water for the CMOG. I'm giving her one more week, then I'll harvest her. It sparkles in the tent as if there had been frost, the buds are so covered in trichomes. Looks wonderful, I can hardly wait! 😁 Unfortunately, my camera isn't good enough to show you. Great strain, the CMOG! 👌

BetaVulgaris The harvest of the CMOG was done quickly, it had very few leaves. 😀 All in all, the CMOG performed better than the Z&Z. Both were not bad, but this time the CMOG clearly had the prettier buds. But next time it might be different again.
