Happy to introduce Project Red Tide
In this project, were pheno hunting red hot cookie's red flower.
The goal of this project is to find a red pheno and clone it to be able to put 6 plants in our scrog DWC system to have a red scrog, or a red tide 😅
(we will have to clone each plant before putting into flower)
Each seed has a 60% chance of turning red, leaving us a 4.67% percent chance of all 6 of our seedlings to turn red in this grow.
Pretty excited to be the first diary of this strain on the site, looking forward to sharing some awesome pictures😈
pretty run of the mill nutrient burn, it's been shocked and will be stunted forever. No worries though : this is why we germinate more than we keep right? Hope this helps ! 🚀
This journal is not going to be standardized compared to our other journals because were just looking for a pheno here.
Growth is going steady, shooting 30ml every 12 hours into the rock wool.
Lucifer is bouncing back.
Got some algae on the wool, trying to fix that by shooting the water towards the bottom of the rock rool then the top so it drys out.
The roots are just barely out of the baskets, looking forward to putting them in DWC soon because I hate watering them by hand lol.
Problem week with all our plants, bad humidity spike messed a lot of things up.
We finally put these into DWC, some plants were receiving some deficiencies by hand watering them, hopefully they'll grow faster, we would like to see these flowered by august.
In general, so far so good.
Finally put these ones into DWC this week and the growth exploded. Lucifer is really bouncing back.
We're using our grow tent as a drying room currently we so have a really ugly set up with a ladder and a light lol.
Sorry for the bad pictures, harvest week made things a little hectic in context of lighting.
Ok yes these pictures suck still, we just had to harvest and had to take care of it all of that.
As you can tell, this week these plants exploded, maybe 2-3 weeks before we can get a decent amount of clones off them.
Topped and defoliated a little bit, some fan leaves are getting huge for this small area
These plants are stacked node wise, Were thinking our branches are just going to be long bud spears
Finally some normal pictures
This week removed some of the bigger leaves so the underneath could breath
There is a massive leaf on each plant as you can see
The tops of the plants look a little off , these parts were not getting any light so they tended to under develop
Looking at one more week, if you look at the last two pictures we are waiting for those clones sites to be big enough to take off. We planned on taking 3 clones per plant and then waiting a couple a days for the plants to recover to put them into flower.
Hopefully they grow fast this week.
Today we took 3 clones from each plant and labeled them, they look absolutely like trash lol. They started wilting within 5 minutes of taking them off, we did use clonex gel and solution for the cloning process.
Were going to let these plants recover for a couple of days and then flip in to flower
One thing we have noticed is that these plants have slowed down in growth dramatically recently, nothing has changed with our schedule. Maybe the Sweet Seeds team can chime in.
Flipped into flower finally, we took 18 clones and as of yesterday, 13/18 are rooted. Clonex gel works so good.
These plants are getting a little bushy, were probably going to defoliate with in the next couple days.
Not much to say about this week, other than it being tame.
Were hopping the pH doesn't swing down as it traditionally does during flower
We are 18/18 clones! They also look so much better, were going to make a new container for them and start a diary for them when its complete, probably this week.
Red Skull, Rose, and Roja are growing the tallest, were hoping those ones are ones that turn red so we can fill out a scrog better.
Were not sure why the other ones are so small, it may be due to the container size their in, they're starting to get shadowed by the larger plants.
Were starting to see white pistil for females.
Everyone is waiting for this harvest for sure!😈
This week we finally started to see bud development, the 3 plants are over shadowing the other 3 and might force them to under develop, we'll see what we can do to accommodate for that.
Red Skull doesn't want to stop stretching, its almost touching the light and we've raised the light as high as we can. So far that's the best grower, but her clones are doing the worst? Not entirely sure why.
Had to pull the tallest branch to the side a little bit with string, it was starting to get light bleached.
Bud sites are growing nice and strong, I want to say its starting to smell like a tropical breeze on the beach in the tent but I may be over thinking it lol.
Starting to smell like oranges this week!
The buds are starting to fatten up a lot.
So far we haven't seen any red development yet but we still have about 3 weeks left.
Swapped out the HPS for QB, that was a pain.
The plants got so big this week, they fell over and we had to string them up very poorly as you can tell.
Unfortunately, I think this project is a bust and we didn't get lucky with any red phenos. Better luck next time.
I spoke too soon, this week 2 of our plants decided to turn purple on us. The biggest plant has a purple/green hybrid color while the other one has a full purple bud.
Hoping they develop more throughout the week :D
Coming up on our final couple of weeks, so far no amber trichomes yet, but usually harvest when they're cloudy.
The red/purple came out big time this week
Were getting excited to smoke it😴
We are harvesting today/tomorrow, will get some good bud shots for harvest day, Were thinking these plants started to foxtail or are genetically determined to look like that, the light intensity in some areas isnt even that bright.
Pre dry pics, will update soon with harvest
The purple pheno smells like fruit punch mixed with weed.
The hybrid green/purple pheno is def our largest bud to date.
The cloning process of this strain was really hard, they did not like to be cloned, we thought we lost all of them.
Some phenos grew really tall, the 3 that we posted about specifically, other phenos grew really short and got over shadowed
Pretty happy that Project Red Tide is finally over, didn't exactly go as planned but we learned a lot from it.
