I've got three small seedlings with a fourth coming shortly. How much light intensity should they be getting? I have a 300W 3K LED 30" of the tops running on a 18-6 schedule. The LED is on its lowest setting because I read the the seedlings can be light sensitive.

Hard to say about that wattage. I have used a 180W at about 30" with good results. So your dimming capability might bring it down to that intensity. Otherwise, I am using 30 watts of led bar lights at 18".

Day 1: Mandarin #2 is sprouted, but is taking a bit longer for leaves to pop out of the seed shell. I've been using an external humidifier next to one of the tent vents along with a fan inside to pull some moisture into the environment. Seems to be working, but not yet up to 70% RH. Being very sparing with water so far. Maybe around 100 mL per plant twice a day. Not sure when to start nutrients. Will probably post a question. Day 7: Mandarin #2 is starting to catch up to the others. I've increased the light to full wattage and I'm giving a bit more water now. Waiting until I see 3-4 nodes before I start nutrients.

The leaves on Blueberry #1 (top right) are starting to twist a bit. Should I be worried? The only changes I've made recently are: 1) increasing light up to full wattage and 2) adding second fan (lower left) to add more air circulation.

Dry off the leaves if anythign drips on them... doin't foliar spray, just in case that's the source. It could be caused by more than one thing. If they are well-hydrated, not overfed, underfed, i'd raise the light an inch or two and see what happens. That doesn't look neccessary though. At the age of those plants, i'd most liekly ignore it than try to do anythign about it. when leaves contort, it can be due to heat, light or lack of moisture etc.. could be pH or even some nutrient-related issues. When they are young, this sort of stuff happens on a whim and most often grows out of it quickly. If you choose to be proactive, try the less obtrussive options first before adding anythign you can't take out.

Ladies still looking pretty good other than some leaf twisting on Blueberry #1 (upper right). Per recommendations from others, I moved the light up an inch or so and have been waiting until soil is completely dry before watering again. I picked up a device called the Home Coach from Netatmo. It's connected to WiFi and reports on temp, RH and CO2. It integrates with Smartthings so I was able to set up an automation where it turns on a humidifier whenever RH drops below a certain point. Day 3: The leaves on Blueberry #2 are now also starting to twist. Did some googling and apparently it's common to the strain is nothing to worry about.

Sunset #1's top leaves are curling down. The other leaves look healthy. Am I watering too much? Is the light too close?

Really looks like a case of overwatering. Just let it dry out and you should be fine. Check out my first grow for tips tricks and to learn what not to do. Cheers and happy growing!

Getting really concerned now that most of the leaves are starting to droop. I've been very sparse with watering. The only other change is humidity has dropped from 65% to 50%. Also, I have not given any nutes yet as I read that there should be 3-4 set of leaves first. Help?

Honestly to me they look great. They are bushy, green, and solid in stature. It looks to me like you have some healthy seedlings. All my grows are all around the same humidity as yours with no ill effects. I personally think your leaf droop is good, it looks like the leaves are growing a bit faster than the leaf petioles are able to support. Your ladies have plenty of light, as soon as they develop a bit more root structure that should disappear. As the previous answer said, after a good water pick up the pot and remember how heavy it is, and do not water until it feels very light, or has a slight weight to it. Happy growing and good luck! Cheers.

Plants are starting to smell which is awesome. I added my first nutrients yesterday which was Day 3 of week 4. All plants have 3-4 nodes. Will likely transplant next week. I added some plastic tubs so that I can test run off and shop vac it out easier once I've upsized the pots.

Both of the Sunset plants are showing some discoloration on new growth, one worse than the other. I've been watering very little and infrequently per previous feedback. Wonder if it's a nutrient deficiency. Any thoughts?

Looks like a nutrient lockout . And watering to often. No oxygen to the roots will cause them to wilt like that . You should check your EC and PPM to make sure your in range . You should be around 250-400 PPM for a plant that size . Hope that helps

So, it looks like growth has stalled out. At the end of week 3, I was worried about both Mandarin Sunset plants as they had droppy and curling leaves. I posted some questions and it seems like most folks thought I was overwatering. I then got distracted with some other sh!t and ignored the plants which caused them to go into shock from lack of water. I watered them and they immediately sprang back to life. i feel like I'm back on a decent watering schedule, but the one of the Mandadarin Sunsets still doesn't look right. I gave 1/2 portion of nutrients for the first time last week and saw no change. I also have a little Bokashi and that didn't do anything. I also noticed that the Obama leaves are a mix of green and purple at the top of the canopy, but the lower leaves looked a more healthy green color. That got me thinking that maybe the light was too strong and/or too close so I turned down intensity and moved the light up 6 inches. The plants seem to be happier now, but I'm not sure. The next big question will be when to transplant. I can see some roots through the holes on each of the cups.

One looks like a iron deficiency well the other looks like a magnesium deficiency. I'd definitely think about transplanting them into a larger pot. Give them a well rounded feed and they should bounce back quickly. Remember to use micro and cal/mag

Ok, so maybe the noob is starting to figure it out. Firstly, I got a digital pH meter. Yo... that tip should be pinned to the top of every forum and BB where people discuss growing. Makes a huge difference. Also, I ditched the distilled water and started using unfiltered well water. PPM is only ~120 and it's got natural micro nutes. I probably waited as long as I could before transplanting which was just lucky. I was starting to see some roots at the bottom of the original container. I moved them to 3 gallon fabric pots (Phat Sacks...lol) and amended soil with good amount of Bokashi which was recommended by an OG grower. Plants are looking really good... my precioussss😈 Next steps: figure out best light distance now that the plants are healthy and acclimated to the new pots. And I think they should be topped soon.

I'm using a 300W LED. What distance should I keep the lights at now that I've transplanted and the plants are doing well? I'm thinking 24" and then move up as they grow until flipping. Also, when should I top? I've read that waiting for 6-8 nodes is the right way to go.

Every light is a bit different. If you have an expensive PAR/ppfd meter, you can start at generally accepted safe levels relative to maturity and trial and error from there. with a cheap lux meter, you can guage intensity.. if X lux is too much for a seedling, you know to test lower than X lux in future. This will remain useful information as long as you use that meter under the same light -- or, the same exact light model. i.e. same spectrum, same diodes, etc etc.. $150 vs. $10. Your plants are probably ready for ~full intensity at this point or near that point. Start at 18-24".. let the plants grow into light a bit and look for adverse impacts. if it stops growing vertically or if the top buds flop over, you know it's too much light. If you see the leaves drooping for long periods of time during day, that's another minor sign -- they should rise and fall a bit, though. If i see my plants droopy for hours at a time near end of day i reduce intensity or raise lights a bit. how long you run your lights will matter too. check out a DLI chart. It'll help you determine if you are giving too much light based on specs and how long to run you rlights- - may be able to save some money at 16-18hrs instead of 24hours that some run them. https://www.ledtonic.com/blogs/guides/dli-daily-light-integral-chart-understand-your-plants-ppfd-photoperiod-requirements Use the chart, but don't follow suggestions for different plants.. mary jane can go upto 65DLI with ~1300ppm CO2 or so. Better to stick to 30-40 sans additional CO2. With that info you can look up the PAR/ppfd you provide at the hours you run the light and determine what your DLI provided is. So, it's going to take trial and error. You don't need a meter of any type, but it would help speed the process up. Waiting for 6+ nodes is safer. you can probably get away with it earlier, but i think you get less impact doing so. If the axilliary growth is starting to grow out just a bit, i think topping causes more "bush-effect" than if they are tiny little nubs in the nook of a node. you got the right idea... test somethign out... see how it goes.. adjust... take soem notes for future reference until it's second nature.

I topped two weeks and the plants are starting to bush out nicely. Tried cloning the tops and that looks like a total fail. The Blueberry Obama tops are pretty much dead. The Mandarin Sunset tops still look ok, but I'm not seeing any roots and it's been 8 days. The plants look to be pretty healthy, but I'm still having some issues. The top left MS (#1) has yellow leaf tips and some slight discoloration in the middle of the leaves. The lower left MS (#2) has the same discoloration which looks like it's happening mostly on the top of the canopy. I'm thinking it could be light burn or a mag deficiency or both. I'll keep an eye on it. Next decisions: 1) I was planning to SCROG this grow, but I'm not sure it's necessary. 2) Should I top again? 3) Should I clean out some of the interior leaves? 4) When should I flip to flower?

3 of the 4 plants look ready to flip. Trying to figure out if I should SCROG to make them bush out more. Also, I'm wondering if I should thin the plants out as there's a lot of undergrowth that's being shaded. See my comments in the most recent week for more detail.

Your plants are too close to each other for a decent scrog grow at this point. But you can definitely benefit from a net, it can help you spread out the upper growth, to expose more budsites to light. If you do this, I would top them from multiple points. If you have the patience, you can top, veg for longer, achieve more branches and more ganja in the end. Topping slows down the growth somewhat of course. Good luck 👍
