"Vacationland", "The Way life SHOULD be." Shove it up your @$$.
All my friends are saying the same thing "Is this really worth it?" Half the year is spent in frozen over hell while the other half is spent capitalizing on tourist season and running ourselves into the ground so that we can't actually enjoy it when it's nice out. All I can say is I'm really looking forward to next month and praying that the summer population leaves sooner than they say they're going to (many are planning to extend their normal length of stay since their kids aren't going back to school) so that they're no longer draining our aquifer with their lawn sprinklers and swimming pools.
End of rant.
What a week...
Our drought persists. Some plants are taking it better then others, but everyone isn't getting what they need because I'm not getting what I need. I'm exhausted and I just can't keep up. That video I posted of the streambed? Well, in that video, there was about an inch of water. It has been bone dry for weeks. I'm having to recycle spent livestock water and use that to water the garden.
Joanne's CBD, now Jojo (My fav Boz Scaggs song), looks like crap. She is not taking this drought well. She could definitely use a little more N (everyone could) and probably some Mag as well. I need to give everyone a good top dressing when I can find some time. Maybe it's hiding in the bottom of my purse or under my seat in the car...
But jokes aside...
Gorilla, who I have named Amy (Any "Congo" fans out there? Seriously underrated movie. Ernie Hudson is the best!) is taking things pretty well, and so is Ice Cool. But the reigning Queen Kush is nearly as tall as I am. She is a sight to behold towering over everyone else in the garden. Next week she will be taller than me.
So, bottom line is everyone could be doing better with some more care and maintenance, but I just don't have the time right now. I'll have to play ketchup later on like I do every year. Jojo looks the worst, but she's been the problem child from the start. What really matters to me are Amy and Bubba, and those Dinafem genetics are not disappointing. Jojo and Ice Cool were freebies, which is nice but I'm not going to kill myself over them.
I'm an outdoor grower with limited time and resources with a chronic neurological pain disorder. I do what I can.
I am not sure if you have interest in this but you may as you have a farm. However, I now you are set up but I am going to share anyways.

Also, this may be of interest.

However, clearly some rain to fill that stream bed would be GREAT!
@Fibro_Witch,
Yeah I saw those answers a couple days back. As to N deficiency I am not sure how as the dirt should have more that enough in it and I dosed the tall one with way more worm castings than I meant too. Unless something cause a lock out of N. I am not to worried about it, it's growing, it looks better for sure and the dying seems to have slowed way down (almost can't see it anymore on that plant) so I will just let it do it's thing.
The over worrying parent I am...
@Learning, I looked at the pic and looks like some people have already provided some answers. I would agree that you might have a little N deficiency in the larger plant, so most likely in the smaller one as well. As it grows up, and the lower fan leaves don't get as much light the plant will put more resources into the top so bottom leaves that don't get as much sun will die off. It's not a dire situation, just give them some more Nitrogen. As far as the comments about watering, with outdoor grows sometimes you're at the mercy of the elements and that's just how it goes. Frankly my girls look like crap right now because we have quite a drought going on so they're not getting as much water as the need. It is what it is, but I have faith in their resiliency.
@Fibro_Witch,
I was trying to send in the chat they have at the bottom of the page but I can't figure out how to place a picture there.
I will post as a question and link you via the chat.
@StealthyDutchGuy, Yeah they're taller because they've got to get above the tomatoes! I started a lot of seedlings but didn't sell as many as planned so they're more crowded than I wanted. But I'm going to have more tomatoes than I'll know what to do with!
@StealthyDutchGuy,
They look fine to me. A bit stressed but all plants get stressed through out their lives. Plus their mom is stressed. Height wise could be de to being in the ground vs a pot. Either way they are pulling through and will give great results.
Heej, just saw your name pop up while scanning some diaries. Good luck with your grow! Interesting strains, so I'm following you.
Is it me or are your plants really stretching?! 20 cm is heigh, not so many leafs. Anyway, cheers!
@Fibro_Witch,Ah, I see. Kind of the same for me. This week the night temp is about 10 Celcius I think. But the weeks before the temp dropped to 6 and below. I also have to put them in a small greenhouse. Both of my plants (WW auto and OG Kush CBD) have curly twirly leaves because of the cold weather. Anyway, good luck somewhere in the Northern realms!
@StealthyDutchGuy, Thanks! I'm in a colder northern climate, it's still getting down to 5-6 degrees Celsius at night so I have to wait a bit for it to warm up.
I read here that one of your seeds had touble sheding it's shell. I seem to have that problem also. I may have l killed one by removing it but I am unsure. I have another that is stuck but I don't really want to handle it in case I did kill the last one. Do you do anything except exercise patience in this situation?
@Fibro_Witch,
I went outside took a deep breath and removed it. Time will tell if I was gentle enough =] My wife says I am oly gentle during sexy time =P
@Fibro_Witch,
I will try this. I figured the leaves would rot, that was what made me concerned. I keep a plastic container over them so birds dont eat them and I was hoping it'd hold enough moisture to help it along. But I think it's time to try something else because they have been in there... today makes 72 hours I am pretty sure.
@Learning, put plain water in a spray bottle and gently spray around the seed. This helps to moisten it which will make it easier for the leaves to push off. If it doesn't come off within 48 hours then spray again and gently try to peel it off, otherwise the leaves will rot inside. Hope this helps! Good luck🙏
@Fibro_Witch, Iam a big RQS fan... so i think she will turn out wonderful
and a biiig Plus on her side is the short Flowering period!!!!,,,,,, iam starting on Monday with soaking the seeds
@Mrs_Larimar, Not too late! She'll catch up😉 I'm looking forward to this one too. What's not to love about their pitch? "She makes an excellent smoke before a hot bath or meditation session to tame the sympathetic nervous system." You got me RQS, I'm in! So glad Seedsman was doing a CBD promo!
The bubba kush is stunning!!! looking great......
My Jojos finally startet to bloom ( indoors) , well the are slooooow..... but atm i think promisisng.. we well see in 4 weeks or so
Iam going to make updates tonight
@Mrs_Larimar, Thank you!😉 I'm pretty excited about the Bubba Kush. I'm glad your Joanne's are flowering, they are slow so hopefully they were just building up and will finish strong💪
My Joanne´s doing the same like yours......mine are pale, and showing no signs of flower. I think i have to end them indoors,, because it no good summer for outdoors until now
@Mrs_Larimar, Yes, it feels like all I do is feed her and have hardly anything to show for it. Unless the flowers are out of this world (whenever they show up) then I will not be growing this strain again.😬
@Sweet_Seeds, Thanks for the positive encouragement! Definitely behind on feeding these ladies, but the Ice Cool has become a pretty large and healthy plant despite my negligence😜 Looking forward to seeing her finish strong👍
@Sweet_Seeds, Yes indeed, it'll be happening this week! I'm giving them a couple days to recover since I just pinched them back. Unfortunately I have to wait a little longer on the weather before I can put them in the ground out in the garden😣
Nice Introducion to your Plants. Its a great thing to have the opportunity to use seaweed as mulch.......very well done they will love it.. happy growing to you
Heej! Looking good. Just realised that your plants are already 5 weeks into flowering. Can I ask what region, country, latitude you live? Here in Holland we get 12/12 on the 25th of August. Just curious!
@StealthyDutchGuy, It's fine😉 Flowering can actually begin anytime between 10-12 hours of darkness, at least that's what Royal Queen Seeds "Flowering Stages of Cannabis Week By Week" article says. So when it's 13 hours daylight they're still getting 10 hours of darkness and make the switch, and I mostly estimate and usually round up on daylight hours when I update my diaries.
@Fibro_Witch,Hey! So now I understand your flowering weeks since your week 12. That's pre-flowering 👍. But wait, how did they get into flowering with more than 13 hours of daylight?! Did you do light-deprivation? Haha, sorry for the question 😁
@StealthyDutchGuy, New England, United States, 44 N, currently at almost exactly 13 hrs daylight, shifting into 12. They are definitely behind schedule, they've been neglected and I need to catch up on feeding.
@Sweet_Seeds, Thanks for the advice! The seaweed that I have used as mulch will deter slugs, and I have interplanted marigolds, calendula, borage and nasturtiums to repel whiteflies, aphids and several other pests. I put them in with my tomatoes to disguise them since I operate a Market Garden. I usually only water in the first week or two of transplanting or if we have a long dry spell. I fertilize sparingly with natural products like blood meal, lime, worm castings and fish emulsion so they don't get burned.
