🧀🦈 Week 1 - Day 1 Thought I’d try my hand at growing something outside so I germinated 2 autoflower seeds I had sitting around one week ago: Cheese and Great White Shark. I soaked both seeds overnight in filtered tap water - the Cheese cracked right away. Moved them into pete plugs and and they both sprouted within 2-4 days. Today I moved them into 7 gallon fabric pots filled with a mix of Ocean Forest soil and another, lighter organic mix. Looking forward to my new growing partnership with sun. Away we go.

The outdoor girls are doing their thing - certainly not as flimsy as they were a week ago. I've been erring on the side of caution and bringing them into the tent at night until they get a little more solid. I'm hoping to leave them outside FT by the end of the week. Thanks for checking in. ✌️

🧀🦈 Start of Week 3 - D15 🧀 Cheese: of all the plants in my current run (indoor included) the Cheese is looking the best. This little hooligan is about 7" tall now and is looking strong and healthy. I'll likely give her a topping this week sometime. 🦈 Great White Shark: the Shark is looking a more like a guppie but she's coming along. Her leaves were looking kind of faded - light shock/under-watering? - but she seems to be looking a bit better than she was earlier in the week. She's about 4.5" tall. The plants are still not outside full-time - I've been bringing them in at night. Not sure if I'm being too precious about this or not. I'm sure it will eventually come down to a stoner moment where I will simply forget to bring them in one night 😉 Thanks for checking in 👍

Start of Week 4 - Day 22 🧀 The Cheese is 13" now and growing great. She's loving life outside. 🦈 Great White Shark is coming along. She's about 10" tall now. Her colour is much improved and seems to be growing fine - although with slightly less zeal than the Cheese. The ladies are living outside full-time now. I'm no longer dragging them in at night. So far, no troubles although there have been some visitors - discovered mama skunk emerge from behind my shed the other night; four babies soon followed. Looks like they've set up shop beneath the shed. So far, we are sharing the space amicably. I'm hoping skunk respects skunk. 😀 Thanks for checking in. ✌️

When I set up the pots for my outdoor grow I filled them about 1" below the top of the container. Since then, the soil mix has settled to the point where it is now about 4" below the rim of the pot. Do I need to be concerned? Should I be topping it off?

You can if you want. You say it's a 7 gallon pot so you probably have 4.5-5 gallons of soil. That is plenty for an auto. If you want to top it up do it when she flips to flower. Add 1.5-2 inches of pre moisten soil with the start of flower nutes and give a lite feeding.

🧀🦈 Start of week 5 🧀 Cheese is growing great outside and is 29” tall now. Starting to show initial signs of flowering. 🦈 Great White Shark is doing swimmingly as well and is now 27” tall. She started showing signs of flower a couple of days ago and is off to the races on her next stage of life. It’s been a pretty pain free grow thus far. Nothing more to do than water them - the Ocean Forest mix I’ve given them seems to satisfying all of their needs to this point. I’ve topped off the pots with some additional OF soil and will likely be adding some bloom nutes to future feedings. Thanks for checking in ✌️

🧀🦈 Start of Week 6: D36 🦈Great White Shark is doing just fine. She's about as tall as the Cheese is now - about 32" - albeit a little more slender. Her flowers are developing nicely. 🧀 The Cheese looks great for the most part; a nice, hearty plant. I've noticed holes in a couple of her leaves along with some spotting. My initial thought was perhaps spider mites, but under the microscope I'm not sure if that's the case. I would have thought there would have been more shape or depth to the spotted areas (like trichomes) under the scope if they were eggs. I thought perhaps, too, it could be areas where water beads were on the leaves and burned through. Would be keen to hear any thoughts. I may end up giving her a treatment with insecticidal soap just to be safe. Thanks for checking in ✌️

Noticed some holes and some spotting on a few leaves. Initial thought was spider mites, but based on pics not sure if that's the case. Also thought it could be areas where water beads were on the leaves and burned through (as the holes go). Not sure about spots. Thoughts?

I don't know if I'd say spider mites, but something is definitely taking a nibble. Could be Caterpillar type crawlers, earwigs etc. Many will.just eat and move on. You could try a neem oil application and just keep examining the leaves top and bottom to watch for any eggs.

Week 7: D44 Another pretty easy week for the outdoor crew - other than daily waterings (sometimes twice; it's been freaking hot the past couple of weeks with no let-up in sight.) Gave the leaves of both plants a spray with insecticidal soap early last week just to be safe. There's the odd little chew hole on the odd leaf but for the most part, things are looking pretty good. The Ocean Forest soil has made feedings ridiculously easy up to this point although last week I gave them a feed with some flowering nutes. I'll likely give them a little boost from here on out. 🧀 Cheese: the Cheese is 40" tall now and her bud sites are filling out nicely. 🦈 Great White Shark: GWS is 35" tall and she's a little ahead of the Cheese as far as her bud development goes. Starting to see a bit of frosting develop now too. 😋 All good in my outdoor hood. Thanks for checking in 👍

🧀🦈 Start of Week 8: D50 It's been extremely hot and humid the past 2 weeks or so. 90s every day. The girls have handled it like champs though - I've kept them well watered (not over doing it) and gave them a feed with some bloom juices mid-week. I waited til they were pretty dry before feeding them, so they soaked it up pretty nicely. 🧀 Cheese is looking really nice. She's topped out at 41" and her main cola is getting nice and thick. Considering she still has 5 or 6 weeks to go she's shaping up very nicely. A light cheesy fragrance at this point - nothing overpowering yet. 🦈 The Great White Shark is 35" tall and her buds are getting plumper every day and starting to get a little frosty; the odd red hair is starting to appear too. She's got a nice skunky, citrusy fragrance - I think she'll be tasty. I believe this auto is a fast finisher and should be done in the next 2-3 weeks. Thanks for checking in ✌️

🧀🦈 start of Week 9: D 57 Couldn’t be happier with how the outdoor autos have turned out up til this point. Pretty trouble free - water as needed and a light feed of bloom nutes once per week. 🧀 The Cheese has an impressive mid section and I can’t wait to see how she ends up. Got a bit of a scare today - a big storm rolled through and I found her almost folded over in half. Luckily it was the weight of the rain water on her buds that was dragging her down - no snapped stem. 😅 I ended up putting a good sized bamboo stake in her pot to secure her to - I just hope I didn’t do too much damage to her roots putting that stake in 🤞 🦈 Great White Shark has a dank citrusy smell and is getting close to harvest: 1-2 weeks. She’s a small but mighty little auto, no issues at all. Thanks for checking in ✌️

🧀🦈 Beginning of week 10: D 64 The outdoor crew is looking and smelling great. A scent of cheesey dankness in the air every time a breeze rolls through. The Great White Shark smells wonderful - more skunky and slightly citrusy - but it's the cheese who's smell is dominating at this point. 🦈 The GWS is continuing to fatten up as she comes to a finish. Perhaps another week or week and a half I think. I wasn't sure whether I'd see any fade on her since I'm growing her in a super soil and have been supplementing with bloom nutes through flowering, however some of her leaves are starting to develop some nice purple hues as we near the end. 🧀 The Cheese is a beast. Still about 3 weeks to go and she's bulking up wonderfully. Her fragrance intensifies more each day as she continues to ripen. Still giving her bloom nutes once a week to supplement the Ocean Forest mix - seems to be doing the trick. Thanks for checking in ✌️

🧀🦈 Start of week 11: D71 Not a perfect week for the outdoor crew - some yellowing and burning of leaves; I may have mixed their weekly topup a bit too hot and I think they also may have suffered as a result of being a bit under watered through the week. 🦈 Great White Shark is nearly ready for harvest. Amber trichomes just starting to appear on the upper buds. A couple of more days and I'll pull her. 🧀 The Cheese seems to have suffered the most in terms of the yellowing and burning of her leaves. She seems to be bouncing back though.🤞 I think it's just water for her from here on out. 2 more weeks til harvest for this stinky girl. I'm going to try to squeeze in one more outdoor grow before the end of the season and have a couple of exciting autoflowering strains from @Sweet_Seeds germinating for the next run - Gorilla Girl XL and Sweet Gelato. I'll be spinning up diaries for each of those very soon. Thanks for checking in ✌️

🧀🦈 Start of Week 12: D78 Smooth week for the outdoor girls. Both plants finishing out nicely. The Great White Shark transitioned to a lovely dark purple while the Cheese is fading to soft yellow hues. 🦈 Great White Shark The GWS was harvested 2 days ago on D76. She's hanging to dry now and I'll update with a full report in a few days once she's dried and weighed. 🧀 Cheese The Cheese is looking and smelling lovely. Probably not much more than a week to go for her and I'm hoping she fattens even more during her last few days. 🤞 Thanks for checking in ✌️

The Great White Shark was really easy to grow. Planted her in a 7-gallon fabric pot with Ocean Forest soil and really all I had to do was keep her watered. The dry cycle took a bit longer than anticipated. I had her drying in large cardboard box (with a small fan for circulation) for about 5 days and planned to move her out on day 6. Unfortunately, I had to move the Cheese plant that I harvested in with her as it finished a bit sooner than expected. Moving in the freshly cut Cheese plant rehydrated the Shark a bit so she had to spend a couple of extra days in the box. The Shark didn't bust the scales but she was a nice little plant and produced some decent sized buds. I may have been able to squeeze more out of her if I did some LST, but like I said, I did nothing but water her. Loved the outdoor grow experience - it was my first one. My wife wasn't too keen on this at first - she had visions of 12 foot monsters reeking up the neighbourhood and felt that cannabis didn't fit into her yard plan. The autos proved to be my saviours on this front as they were a manageable size and even she had to admit, looked pretty nice in the garden 👍 I'm going to try to stretch my luck with one more outdoor run before the weather turns and the days get too short. I have a couple of new strains germinating and should be transplanting them later in the week. Stay tuned.

The Cheese was easy to grow and produced a nice yield with some nice resin covered buds. This strain was my first ever indoor grow just over a year ago, and along with the Great White Shark, is my first outdoor grow. She turned out much better this time around. 👍 Growing in the Ocean Forest soil was incredibly easy and was a nice break from mixing potions as I do for my indoor grows. All I had to do was keep her watered. Of course, I couldn't resist adding some bloom nutes come flower time and overdid it a tad with one of the later feedings and she suffered a little leaf burn as a result. She finished pretty well though. Loved the partnership with sun on this grow and look forward to more collaborations in the future. Actually planning to try and beat the clock and squeeze in one more outdoor run of some fast finishing autos. Will hopefully get those diaries spun up later this week 🤞 Stay tuned.
