Green House Feeding Bio Grow added to the soil mix before transplanting the Rapid Rooter into the 7 gallon fabric pot.
Very excited about this plant and the Cookies G13 also from Flash Seeds.
Nights are very cool here in early May so this plant has been inside overnight.
Planted them in the ground but still in the fabric pots. Nice sunny spot and hopefully they will do well here. Covered with plastic dome in anticipation of a few days of rain.
May 28: put some worm castings on top of soil (“side dressed”).
May 31: fertilized with Nature’s Source and a crushed calcium citrate (300 mg/L) pill with the pH adjusted using vinegar. Looking good. 🤠
June 1: did a foliar spray (calcium citrate, kelp extract and dab of soap as a surfactant). Plants at home seem to like it and provides the calcium directly to the leaves where it is needed during growth.
June 5: added some Nature’s Source for N and fimmed both plants. Cookies G13 is a bit bigger than the Panama Lime.
June 9: plants are looking good after being Fimmed in June 5. Leaves are much bigger on the Cookies G13, and it’s likely ready for a good growth spurt. 😎. Gave them my foliar spray (kelp extract, calcium citrate pill and Epsom salt with a small dab of dish soap) which all my plants seem to like.
I’m excited about these plants and I hope they work out. Will be applying some pollen to these in first attempt at breeding. Want the size of these plants but cross them with something faster for use in this climate.
June 12: one week after fimming and the plants are looking good. 😎
June 18: Looking really good. Rain this week so no need to water during this visit.
Cookies G13 looks awesome actually, and is slightly bigger than the Panama Lime.
June 20: added four 6 foot long bamboo poles around each plant for support and raised soil level in pots a bit.
June 20: some defoliation to open up lower plant area. Molasses and bloom nutes added in water.
June 24: some rain last few days, and the plants are noticeably bigger. 🤠 Both plants have grown about an inch per day lately.
June 26: tying some bamboo cross pieces into place to open up the plants for maximum sun exposure.
Jun27: applied BioBloom as a top dressing on the soil. This and BioGrow are solids applied to soil based on L of soil substrate.
So far so awesome. I love these plants and I really hope they are able to mature in time. Just some light defoliation and starting to tie cross pieces onto the bamboo stakes.
July 2: after a few days of heavy rain the plants don’t look much bigger, but they’re actually both about 2 inches taller. The bamboo seems to working to open up the plant and to provide some storm durability. It poured here the last two days and the plants are fine.
Defoliated some big lower fan leaves that were discoloured.
Pollinated Branches of both these plants with feminized pollen (Gelato, Auto COP, Triple XL, and Super Skunk XXL). There should be some good crosses out of this bunch.
July 4: re-did the pollination again just in case, and did a foliar spray (kelp extract, calcium citrate pill, pinch of Epsom salts and a dab of soap in 1 L of water and then sprayed on leaves). Plants seem to love it.
July 10: pliants are looking good, and I did another round of pollination because I’m still not sure it has worked yet. Added Seedsman Northern Lights Auto as a source of feminized pollen for a total of five types now on both plants.
July 16: using pipe cleaners (“chenille stems” LOL) to hold stems apart to let more light in, so that qualifies as LST I suppose. Light defoliation at the base of the plant of mostly discoloured leaves or really small stuff. Also weeded around the base.
July 21: looking good. Did some light defoliation of the understory and fertilized using BioBloom which is applied as a top dressing on the soil. This is the second application of BioBloom as needed for 12 week flowering plants. Also sprayed leaves with Enhancer.
July 24: very light LST and defoliation. Plants are looking good.
July 30: smallish lower limb on Cookies G13 was damaged and had to be removed.
Some of the main limbs on Cookies G13 are flat, not round, and are developing some nice flowers. Seems structurally strong but I’ll have to support these branches under bloom I think. The things we do for heavy buds. 🤠
Aug 2: these two plants don’t seem to need much water. The nearby Wonder Pie is way smaller and yet sucks back way more water.
Both these plants seem very happy and are getting quite big. 😎
Aug 5: added bamboo stakes around the perimeter of both plants and then connected them using foam covered gardening wire. This makes a stable but flexible ‘skirt’ to provide support for the branches. They’re getting pretty long and hopefully soon to be heavy so it was time for some support. We can get heavy thunderstorms here in the summer (so far so good) and I don’t want to lose any limbs to storm damage.
Plants are still growing at about an inch per day.
Aug 8: added second round of BioBloom to soil.
Aug 10: bamboo staking seems good and buds are slowly forming.
Aug 13: sprayed with Enhancer. Plants are continuing to grow and buds are slowly forming...
Flowers are progressing but very slowly.
Aug 27: thinned out some internal leaves, small branches and larf. Tried pollinating with Smoothie and Devil XXL pollen for second time. Unlike the Devil XXL where I can see seeds forming, I’m not certain the branches were successfully pollinated previously (Aug 16 ?). So, tried again. Also sprayed with Enhancer.
Height unchanged between Day 120 and 124...maybe that’s a good sign that they’ll start putting some effort into flowering now.
Aug 30: blooming but still verrry slowly....the weather here should be okay for another 4-5 weeks and then it will get bad for cannabis in October. These plants might be able to finish before the bad weather arrives, but they need to pick up the pace on flowering. Now that they’ve stopped vegging maybe they’ll make it, and maybe not.
Just using pHed water.
Sep 3: Panama Lime is properly flowering now and seems a week ahead of the Cookies G13. Also starting to smell a bit. 😎
Sep 6: flowering is slow but progressing with Panama Lime out in front.
Sep 10: Panama Lime is looking good with buds stacking up along the branches and starting to put on weight. It has been cool here overnight (about 6 C) but there is no sign of distress on these plants. Gave them a bit of water with molasses and potassium silicate.
Sep 15: Panama Lime has a great lemon smell and the buds are finally starting to put on weight. Trimmed some small ‘suckers’ or branches that weren’t going to amount to anything.
Cookies G13 has these two huge ‘clubs’ that produce lots of leaves but minimal bud. I’ve always been suspicious that these would rot and today there was a shrivelled leaf which is a sign of bud rot starting. That was the last straw so I beheaded this thing and will use the immature flowers In a tincture.
Fimming worked perfectly on the Panama Lime producing four colas. But on the Cookies G13 it didn’t seem to work, and it may have caused it to grow those two ‘clubs’. I’ll try fimming again I’m sure but for now I think I’ll stick to topping as it’s more reliable.
New growth on Cookies G13 is a bit yellow so also included some SuperBloom in the nutrient mix to provide N.
Sep 18: hazy today from fires in CA and OR which are about 1,800 km away. This haze blocks light including UV which is what promotes the formation of THC in the plants. So global warming causes fires, and the smoke affects THC production in my buds half a continent away. Great.
Sep 20: nice sunny day. Panama Lime has gotten serious about flowering and is looking really good. Cookies G13 is also doing well but is about a week behind.
Very little evidence of damage due to low temperatures. A few tops on the Panama Lime have some purple, but there is no fan leaf damage or much discolouration.
Sep 22: looking really good. The buds on the Panama Lime are fattening up, getting resinous, and starting to glisten in the sun. I’m becoming more optimistic that these plants will work out this year.
Panama Lime is listed at seedsman.com as yielding 150-450 g, and Cookies G13 is listed as 300-800 g. The Cookies G13 plant is definitely bigger, but I don’t think it’s twice as big. The website also lists these as being 100 day plants but we’re up to 150+ days now with at least 2-3 weeks still to go. This partially due to the cooler nights here in Canada compared to Spain where its bred, and I’m also theorizing that it’s partially due to the more reddish light we get this far north. They certainly grow well, but they are very slow flowering. The small tester I had of Panama Lime was great so this should be worth it. 🤠
Sep 25: both plants look really good, and the Panama Lime is fattening up really well. Did a bit more defoliation taking out small branches, particularly low on the east side of the plant where there were two spots of what seemed like a bit of bud rot. That should help direct energy to the bigger buds while also improving airflow to prevent further problems.
Sep 27: both plants are looking great with almost no sign of problems due to low temps. The days have gotten much shorter at around 12 hours of daylight compared to 18+ hours during the summer. I’m sure this has affected the plants as they’re flowering more quickly now.
Panama Lime is more mature and has a great strong smell of limes and lemons. Cookies G13 has a weaker smell but it’s still pretty nice.
Sep 28: took out a few inner branches on both plants. Both plants’ buds are getting fairly sticky 😎 Both plants look a bit N deficient (?) so I gave them a bit of water with SuperBloom (10-40-25). This is a bit late in the grow for that but there’s probably another two weeks at least so it should be fine. It was either that or another dose of BioBloom and it seems too late for that.
Sep 30: a bit of frost overnight. Panama Lime was fine but the north side of Cookies G13 had some leaf curl due to frost. No pics though. Sprayed with kelp extract to revive.
Oct 2: great run of nice sunny weather continues and the plants are certainly getting heavier and riper. Drilled 2 small holes through trunks on both plants.
Frost last night wiped out potato plants nearby, and some damage on the Cookies G13, but both the Panama Lime and the Wonder Pie were undamaged.
Oct 3: air temp was 0 C last night But no sign of additional frost damage to the plants. Defoliation was to remove frost damaged leaves from the Cookies G13. Had to take out sunflowers which were shading the plants because the sun is so low to the horizon now.
The end is near.
Harvested 21 g PL and 20 g G13 buds wet weight for freeze drying.
Oct 4: frost damage on Cookies G13 may also just be senescence of the plant. Buds are over dried again with both PL and CG13 weighing out at 5 g dry after curing. Harvested seeds: 170 Panama Lime x Devil XXL, 65 Cookies G13 x Smoothie, and 20 Smoothie x Panama Lime.
Seeded branches were dried:
81 g PL and 119 g Cookies Gi13 wet buds into dryer.
22 g dry PL and 29 g dry CG13 so about 25% of wet weight after rehydration.
Oct 10: chopped both plants at 169 days. There was a bit of frost on the plants this morning so I took down both Flash Seeds plants and Wonder Pie 2. Filled freeze dryer nearly to capacity with one tray of Wonder Pie and four of Panama Lime. Cookies G13 is trimmed and waiting.
771 g of bud and 491 g scraps and popcorn buds for what should be a very nice and flavourful single strain hash. That’s 1.26 kg or 2.8 pounds wet of useful stuff for Panama Lime.
Great plant that was super easy to grow. Extremely long flowering period but we had nice weather for most of September and she did great.
Would be 10/10 rated if it was a bit faster. My hypothesis is that the cool nights and more reddish sunlight here at 53N latitude contributed to the long lifespan of this plant. It was definitely not a 100 day plant but it was definitely worth trying. About 230 g (>8 ounces) of fragrant and sticky buds are the highlight of the year’s plants. This great flavour and resinous buds should also make a great single strain cold water hash from the trim.
The taste and effect are top notch. Love it.
Would downgrade this to 7/10 as it is effective but not very tasty, and super slow flowering. Huge plant but not as good as the Panama Lime in yield or taste.
The Cookies G13 was bigger than the Panama Lime but the buds weren’t as developed. The bud yield is a bit lower than the PL but there is a lot more trim to use for hash. The total weight of usable biomass was almost identical at 1360 g for each of the two plants with Panama Lime producing more buds.
The flavour of the Cookies G13 is pretty non-descript and plain especially in contrast to the Panama Lime. Great overall yield but kind of average otherwise. Many of the buds did not tighten up very well due to weak sunlight here in the fall, but there was a lot left for hash. Way too long flowering for most situations, but I wanted to try this huge autoflower this far North.
I would classify Cookies G13 as not quite suited to my location, but the Panama Lime did surprisingly well and will be grown here again.
