I was very satisfied with my first Royal Cookies. I even won a price for Diary of the Month in August ! 👋👋👋
But unfortunately the smell was so strong that it attracted attention of the police. Not while growing, but when I had my jars opened for curing. So be careful when curing your medicine !
Dimlux controller is connected with 3 sensors (Temp., RH%, Planttemp.) and controls lamps, fan, heating, humidifier/demuhidifier. Optional : CO2 sensor and C02 generator.
To keep the VPD (vapor pressure deficit) value low enough during vegetation, I had to position the lamps high above the plants and let them burn at 50% to keep temperature low enough. With two humidifiers I can insure a relative humidity of 60%.
DAY 17 First time topping
DAY 20 Repotting to 12 l containers filled with Plagron Royalmix
DAY 25 Topping for the second time (pics before topping). Definitive numbering of the plants.
These Cookies are the smallest plants of the selection ; height varies from 12 - 17 cm
The slowest growing plants of the collection are the Royal Cookies. You can see that the leaves (in week 4) have all remained green. They showed no lack of nitrogen compared to the other strains, because of their slow growth.

DAY 32 After repotting one week ago, now first time watering :
10 liter water and 50ml Plagron Start-up in each flat wooden bin (120cmx120cm; covered with pond foil) and let the plants suck it up
The plants are now growing well, and therefore I try to increase the VPD to the value 1.
Plant height : 21 -27 cm
Royal Gorilla is the sma
DAY 37 Plants are growing excelent ! I have had to rearrange the pots to get a nice flat canopy. Topping and defoliation will result in an even more flat canopy.
Ranking by height :
1. C99 (Female seeds)
2. Sex Bud (Female seeds)
3. Royal Gorilla (RQS)
4. Roayl AK (RQS)
5. Somango XL (RQS)
6. Royal Cookies (RQS)
DAY 49 since the seeds were put in the ground
DAY 7 of the bloom (height : 44-53 cm)
The Cookies are the smallest plants in the collection of the plants that are in my growth space. They have by far the most Indica genes. The plants remain quite small and have large, very dark green leaves.
The first week of the flowering phase is over. Because the plants are tipped 3 times, they have many small twigs. These twigs are in competition with one another in order to catch as much light as possible. The branches will become firmer if they continue to grow for another two weeks.
The difference between the different varieties is becoming more and more visible. The Cookies have a hard time keeping up with the rapid growth of the other species and with their large leaves the Cookies cover their own shoots. Maybe I should have topped the Cookies twice instead of three times ... The Canopy is not so flat anymore. I placed the smallest plants in the middle and around I put the larger plants.
I pour 10 liters of water every 2 days with nutrients in each bin with 16 plants and I let the plants suck this solution. This is easy to water, but more difficult to ensure that the largest plants (the plants on the outer edge) get enough water, while the smallest plants (the plants in the middle) do not get too much.
Cookies = Royal Cookies ( RQS )
Friends = Somango XL (RQS), Royal Gorilla (RQS), Royal AK (RQS), Sex Bud (Female Seeds), C99 (Female Seeds)
DAY 56 since sowing / 14th day of flowering
Height : 64-70 cm
The cookies are fairly small, have dark green leaves with a dark purple tint.
Plant#6 is a bit of a freak
Maybe the buds are rather small, but they are really littered with trichomes. The reason for having these small buds, could be that after the last (3rd) time topping, the big Indica leaves covered up the new grow tips. The Cookies were the slowest growers and the tips couldn't pass the leaves so easy.
Plants are almost ready to harvest.
4 pictures of the same bud. 2 with flash, 2 without flash.
RQS Royal Cookies is really a superb strain. Firm branches, Small buds. Beautiful Dark Purple colors. Incredible very pungent and also sweet smell. Lots of trichomes.
63 DAYS = 9 weeks blooming ; last week only water
those colours.... and that fantastic cookie smell....
Last day before chopping them down.
Because of space shortage I had to harvest them all at the same time.
I can't wait to give you an extensive smell, taste and effect report !
Easy to grow. Very smelly plants. Beautiful purple colors.
;.
Harvest was a bit low, because I topped them too short in time before I started flowering. Buds were a bit hidden under the fan leaves, therefore small buds. But the buds are full of trichomes.
@Zannabis7, Thx, I didn't win. It was my first grow here on Growdiaries. Not my first grow in general. I have some experience in growing all kind of vegetables 😇
@Oyziphar, Sounds like an excellent plan. Growing with different strains all together like this is a pain but you are doing a lovely job. You'll enjoy comparing each strains terpenes, I bet. Not such a bad compromise, really. ;-)👊👍
@Zannabis7, I read your comment again. I must tell you that the third topping I did in Week6 (last week growing) was a bit too late for this strain. The new shoots were covered with the big Indica leaves, and so the budforming got somewhat behind in comparison with the other strains.
@Zannabis7, Yup, and they respond very well on the topping. What went less well was that I might have left the plants a bit too long in the small pots. They showed some nitrogen shortage. Also a small problem that the new soil (repotting) was a bit cold (because of the weather). That gave them a bit of a shock. But after the roots of the plants have scanned the size of the pot, now the new shoots have start growing well.
Hi! Thank you for sharing your journal. Did you grow these Royal Cookies from 6 different seeds? If so did you notice any variation between them? Stronger or different smells from each of the plants? Yield differences? Did a single plant of the 6 stand out as a winner? Thanks!
@remi604, Yep 6 different seeds. All plants looked about the same. Some plants have a strange growth pattern with a hard trunk and leaves that do not develop completely. Remove these plants at an early stage. I grew this strain earlier and had the same problem. But the selected plants were great. Incredible smell, nice rockhard buds with a lot of trichomes, superb smell and taste! My favourite RQS seed at the moment.
Sorry for the late answer. Been very busy. I've started again this week, so I am happy to be back. Soon some new diaries !
@biggreens420, Correct. Plants are not very branched. Great smell, nice frosty buds. Sorry for the late answer. Been very busy. I've started again this week. Soon some new diaries !
