The Project:
This is an attempt to "reverse" (take a female plant and cause it to turn into a male) one my LCH clones for purposes of breeding feminized seeds. Any plants pollinated with pollen gathered from this plant (in theory) should be feminized and thus once bred with another strain should produce 99% female plants.
The Process:
So I have decided to try the colloidal silver method which forces the plant to change sex due to chemical stressors (not natural ones). I created my own silver with PPM of 19. I am spraying the entire clone down in the morning and just before lights out.
I will continue to do this for one week then it will go into the flower tent. At that point I will switch to spraying once a day. That will continue for the first week it is in flower. Follow along if your curious..I know I am!!!!
June 17/Day 2:
So this is day two of this little pet project. This first week will be boring with not much to report. I will be doing a few pictures so I can document what the effects of this process looks like.
June 18/Day 3:
Man she does not like this one little bit. She is getting ugly. I guess part of the process.
June 21/Day 6:
Not happy but still growing. Will be moving her tomorrow and setting the spraying down to once a day. Have a little spot for her as she changes and grows in the big girl tent.
June 23/Day 1:
Spraying once a day now. Time to watch her turn into him. This may take a bit but we shall see how it turns out. Spraying just before lights out.
June 25/Day 3:
So just spraying at night. Her name is changing from Lil' Rose to Romeo.....and it seems the silver is bothering it less and less. Kinda excited to see how it turns out. Would be AWESOME to have some LCH feminized pollen!!!!
June 29/Day 7:
Will be spraying for maybe a couple more days. Depends on when it starts showing sex. May stop today......we shall see. Fed with PH'ed water with Cal/Mg and liquid seaweed.
July 4/Day 13:
This is a bit of a back logg. Been super busy. I am still spraying every evening at this point and the plant is growing fine. I did see some tiny pistols showing so have decided to keep spraying till I believe the change is going to be full.
July 8/Day 17:
So have been spraying him once a day at lights out since switching to flower and in veg I sprayed every morning and at lights out. At this point I would say sprayed 32 times and only used half of the bottle I made.
Pretty sure he has reversed and will be called Romeo from now on. Once I see well developed sacks I am moving him out of the tent as I don't want a huge whoopsie.
July 11/Day 20
Ball sacks showing pretty strong!!! It works peeps. Gonna watch real close so I can take him out just before he actually blooms and try collecting pollen!
July 14/Day 23:
So moving this fellow over to veg tent as I believe will finish off the sacks it has started and do not want him to pop on my ladies! Noticed a couple of sacks starting to split today. Took a small disposable food container and cut it then lined it with foil to catch dropped pollen. Will get a pick of it later. This is kinda exciting!
So as you can see the sacks are developing well and a few have even begun to open up. Not really seeing any pollen yet. will keep him going but am wondering if putting him back in 18/6 is gonna effect the pollen production.
