Amina the Alaskan Purple

hazyvonne Amina - trustworthy, faithful, lady of peace First week with my first ever plant. Had the seed in a glass of distilled water for about 24 hours and then moved her into a rapid-rooter which was then immediately planted into a 5gallon smart pot. She's patient with me as I'm trying to learn how to keep the temperature and humidity steady for her. Day 7 I felt she was getting a bit tall, so lowered the light a few inches from about 26 inches above her to about 23 inches.

hazyvonne She seems to like having the lights closer. Still keeping her on 24/0 until she has a few more leaves. Looking back at the pictures it's definitely harder to tell much of a difference this week, but at least she doesn't seem to be getting much taller.

hazyvonne With the lights closer she barely stretched last week. And we're starting this week with 2 nodes up already, hoping we can make it to 3 by the end.

hazyvonne Week 4 and I finally realized she has her first 5 tip leaf! Not sure how I missed that before. I'm also pretty sure we're up to 3 nodes now. Starting this week I'm switching her from 24/0 to 20/4. Still watering with distilled water and no nutrients yet. Just saw another node! Up to 4 now! She's pretty short and bushy so moved the light a few inches further away.

hazyvonne She's entering week 5 with 6 nodes up. I'm switching her from 20/4 to 18/6 this week. She's also now getting tap water instead of distilled. Topped her on day 30. On day 31 I tried my hand at some LST. She's very bushy so I wanted to make sure to get some light in there but without cutting any leaves. Started out with FoxFarm Nutes. Gaver her very small amount (1 tbs) each of BigBloom and GrowBig on day 31 - seeing how she does with that.

hazyvonne She bounced back great from being topped last week and responded incredibly well to some LST. Got her started on ScrOG this week. Now giving her FoxFarm nutes with every second watering.

hazyvonne Working on our ScrOG. She's very dense and bushy but I decided not to defoliate during veg at all. I'm just training her along the trellis and tucking/bending/tying away leaves every morning. 24 hours later she's back to being the bushy goddess that she is and I start all over again.

hazyvonne This will be her last week of veg. She's spreading over the net well enough that I think it's time. She's still very short and bushy so I moved the lights a bit further away to encourage her to stretch a little more this week. Also started, very carefully removing a few leaves here and there under the net which don't get any light anyway.

hazyvonne Flipped to flower on day 57. Moved lights closer again. Curious to see if this little Indica will stretch at all.

hazyvonne Week 2 of flowering and she certainly didn't stretch very much. I had planned to continue tucking/weaving her until the end of week 3, as that was the advice I read on most ScrOG guides but I'm thinking of just letting her mostly do her own thing from now on. Some white pistils showed up this week and at last count, she had around 44 growth tips (I tend to lose track so I'm not sure of the exact number). Got a new macro lens for my phone. Love taking those close-ups of my girl :D

hazyvonne Start of week 3 and I have stopped tucking and weaving. I'm just letting her grow now and only move leaves a bit if they cover another bud.

hazyvonne Start of week 4 of flowering and she's starting to get a bit frosty. I'm still removing the occasional leave since she's very bushy, but mostly just tuck leaves away as needed. While doing that my fingers got a bit sticky for the first time :D

hazyvonne Week 5 of flowering and she's still as bushy as always. Had to defoliate a bit on day 86 even though it's a bit late in the game but I was afraid of too much moisture between the leaves. Bought a second fan as well that I now point up at her from below so there's some airflow on the bottom of the canopy. She seems to be doing well, getting more frosty every day and slowly fattening up those buds. Oooops, missed day 90.

hazyvonne Week 6 of flower. She bounced back beautifully from last week's late defoliation. A day later she seemed just as bushy as before. Having more fans in the tent sure helps as well. Haven't felt any damp leaves since.

hazyvonne Week 7 of flowering and things are pretty easy. She is super low-maintenance right now. No more tucking or weaving. All I do is water her when she needs it and she's still doing great.

hazyvonne Week 8 of flowering. She'll be getting no more nutes from now on - only water. She really smells very, very strongly now, I can usually smell her from the other side of the house :D Towards the end of the week I could already see some leaves turning yellow.

hazyvonne It's her last week of flower! I can't believe it's that time already. She's doing great, buds are firming up, leaves are turning even more yellow. She got watered one more time on Tuesday. After lights turned out on Thursday night I unplugged the lights, plunging her into darkness until she'll get harvested Sunday morning.

hazyvonne My first ever harvest and I think it went pretty well. Two ounces is a decent outcome for my first try, I think. I now know to keep more fan leaves on during the first trim as they dried a bit too fast.
