Our second grow ever! We are growing two strains both by Mephisto Genetics: Creme de la Chem and a freebie, Forgotten Cookies x Forum Stomper. Very excited to be growing Mephisto this time around! We have modified our environment with a Spider Farmer 1000, smaller 3 gallon fabric pots, and our 8 hours of darkness will occur during the hottest part of the day as we enter summer here in sunny California. Two 5 gallon pots in a 2x2 tent was extremely challenging, so hopefully this is more manageable. We are feeding organic coconut powder in our pHed water throughout to create coconut water, as we've read good things about this.
The soil mix is Fox Farms Ocean Forest, worm castings, perlite, and a touch of mycorrhiza.
We are potentially looking to FIM one of the plants this time around, just as an experiment.
June 26 - Seeds set to germinate
June 28 - Both seeds pop
June 29 - Seeds planted
June 30 - Both seeds sprout, but unfortunately, the Creme came out with its helmet on and it damaged the seedling. Beginning of the grow, Day 1 of Week 1, for Cookies.
July 7 - The new Creme seed sprouts, so this is Day 1 of Week 1 for Creme.
Things are going well with Creme an entire week behind Forgotten Cookies, but it's ok. pHed water feedings with the coconut powder for now, we like to start nutrients in Week 4 so keeping it light for Week 3, as well.
Started LSTing both plants! Looking good, process is steady. CDLC has already begun flowering in it's Week 3! Forgotten Cookies still hasn't begun at the end of its Week 4.
Both plants are flowering now! CDLC at Week 3 (so early!) and Cookies at the beginning of Week 5. We've been doing a ton of diligent LST on an almost daily basis, as we pulled the main stem all the way to one side of the pot for both plants and now we're pulling all the other branches to the other side to really maximize light distribution. Nutrients have been doing pretty well, we only do watering with run-off once a week as the plants aren't drinking too much right now, so we're feeding nutrients every watering. So far so good, nothing is off!
As of August 4th, CDLC is 28 days old and Cookies is 35 days old.
LSTing is going well, Cookies is getting very large. CDLC is well into the flowering stage. Afraid of running into the same problem as our first grow with the plants getting too tall, but hopefully all the LSTing we've been doing is going to be helpful.
As of August 11, 2020: CDLC is 35 days old and Cookies is 42 days old
Going through a substantial and extremely extended heat wave here in California, so it's been very difficult to keep temps low. I'm seeing it climb to the high 80's in the tent with the light on, and even with a portable ac on, it's hard to keep the temp low. The plants look healthy but the worry is potency! We know heat affects that. Overall, did re-training, did some minor defoliation on Cookies, and things are going well.
Things are going well, CDLC still way ahead of Cookies. Cookies is getting massive, trying to control things with LST and defoliation of the lower leaves, only a few leaves per week.
On August 25, 2020, CDLC is 49 days old, and Cookies is 56 days old.
End of Week 9 for Cookies and end of Week 8 for CDLC. Things are going well, CDLC is turning out to be a tiny plant since it basically entered flowering at Week 3. Just waiting for both of them to fatten up and doing the best we can to control the environment, although we're due for a huuuuge heat wave this weekend and we're going on vacation for a few days. Hope they'll be ok!
As of September 1, Cookies is 63 day sold. CDLC is 56 days old.
We had a heat wave here in Los Angeles with temps reaching over 110 degrees and the plants suffered in my non-air conditioned apartment, particularly Cookies. It looks like nitrogen toxicity accelerated by extreme heat. Will do the best we can to soldier on with this plant :( They both look kind of tiny, but the environment has not been kind to them. I would say they have about 3-4 weeks left to go.
They've actually both only been watered with pHed water the past week, I feel like there's a nutrient build-up.
As of Sept 9, CDLC is 64 days old and Cookies is 71 days old.
Cookies has been struggling with extreme nitrogen toxicity, we've been removing lots of yellow leaves. We laid off on any nutrients over a week ago and gave the plant a dose of Flawless Finish to clear it out a bit, not sure if that will work. We're just waiting for both plants to finish up at this point.
Plants are maturing and bulking up a bit. Still losing lots of leaves to yellowing and fading on Cookies, don't know if we should be concerned or not. They're both mostly getting plain pHed water at this point! This grow has been a struggle with it being summer and all our heatwaves, it's about to toast up a bit next week. We say that there's about two weeks left til harvest... we aren't really seeing any amber trichomes yet.
Cookies is 85 days old, and CDLC is 78 days old.
No nutrients this week! A nug broke off of Cookies so I guess we'll be sampling that in the near future. Maybe another week or two til harvest? Still not really seeing ambers.
Our grow for this one was underwhelming. Not sure where we went wrong, as our other plant growing at the same time produced some dense buds. These were airier, and we only got about 1 oz out of this short, bushy plant. We would love to try growing this one again, we believe in it's potential.
Popped July 7, 2020 and harvested on October 8, 2020 at 50-60% trichomes for a total of 93 days.
This plant went through a lot, from heat waves to herming. Yep, we got 5 free seeds out of this plant! We are happy with the quality of the bud and would definitely grow this strain again. Excellent genetics.
Popped June 30, 2020, and harvested October 8, 2020 at 20% amber trichomes for a total grow time of 100 days.
