Week 5! Today we swapped our 6400K Sunblaster lights for 2700K. We left 1 6400K in the center of the tent but it will be phased out by the end of the week. We removed the humidifier and lowered our "Elite 360" light fixture by 2 inches. We also increased the light intensity to approximately 60%. Day 29 - Very minor LST adjustments to all 3 plants. We're going to try and minimize any training this week, to allow these girls to focus their energy on transitioning to flower. Day 30 - minor defoliation of a few small branches on Plant #2 & Plant #3 - removed 6400K Sunblaster - Increased intensity of "Elite 360" fixture from 60% to 65% Day 31 - watered with dechlorinated tap water with 1ml/gal of CALiMAGic (115 ppm), pH adjusted to 6.3 - watered to 10-20% runoff. Runoff levels MUCH higher than anticipated and correspond to the relative size of the plants... Smallest plant had highest levels, whereas the largest had the lowest, which makes sense but as you'll see, the levels were still VERY high: Plant #1 = 2650ppm Plant #2 (smallest) = 3000ppm Plant #3 (largest) = 1580ppm - we flushed Plant #1 & #2 each with the remaining dechlorinated cal-mag water that we had prepared, which was about 1.5 gallons each. - we had hoped to start a low dose flowering feed schedule this week but I think we need to get our ppm's a lot lower before we start adding bloom nutes. - we'll plan to do another good flush for their next watering. Hopefully that doesn't set them back, as i can imagine these girls are going to be looking for their Phosphorus. - we also had a power outage that caused the dark period to be extended from the usual 4 hrs, to 10hrs. Oddly, the plants looked really good when the lights came back on. They were very perky and just looked very healthy. It makes us wonder if we should allow for a slightly longer dark period than 4hrs. Our previous grows had us switching from a 20/4 light cycle during veg, to an 18/6 cycle during flowering, which seemed to work well for us. Day 32 - minor LST adjustments on Plant #3 - noted light stress on Plant #1 (leaf curl/canoeing), moved "Elite 360" fixture up by 2-3 inches. - raised Plant #2 with foam spacers under pot to maintain light intensity. - Temp: 73F - 80F - RH: 50-60% Day 33 - no change - started first 5hrs of lights-on period with "Elite 360" light fixture intensity slightly lower, at 60%, before increasing back to 65%. Day 34 - LST on Plant #1, bending main top over. - Plants appeared very droopy after dark period but perked up after an hour of light. Pots are still fairly heavy so they still have plenty of water. Day 35 - flushed Plant #1 and #2 with dechlorinated water, pH adjusted to 6.4 - We were shocked when we tested the runoff and found that it had increased! 😳 We hadn't added any new nutes so i can only assume that the soil is still releasing nutrients. Coco is looking more and more appealing... Runoff ppm: Plant #1 - 3200ppm Plant #2 - 2750ppm Plant #3 - 1500 - after flushing Plant #1 and #2, we finished off by watering each of those 2 plants with a 475ppm nutrient solution of bloom nutes. - Plant #3 got a slightly different treatment, since it's runoff levels were much lower. We top dressed with 1 tbsp of Gaia Green 2-8-4 Power Bloom dry amendment fertilizer, watered in with the same 475ppm nutrient solution but with an extra 3ml/gal of "CALiMAGic" cal-mag supplement. - we had wanted to top dress all 3 with the Gaia bloom fertilizer but those runoff levels have really thrown us off our plans. We just hope that we don't start running into lockout issues. - we're also concerned that while we're trying to get our ppm's down, that we're missing an important window where the plants should be reducing their veg nutes and increasing bloom nutes. - definitely ending week 5 with a few feelings of frustration.

Grow Questions
VanCplGrows
VanCplGrowsstarted grow question 4 years ago
Leaf issues started showing up in 2 of 3 plants, progressing fast. Soil runoff tests have been v. high (2000ppm+) so we're assuming it's a lockout issue. We watered 1 day ago, with 200ppm solution so pots are still very wet. Better to let them dry out a bit or flush right away?

Heya, I would personally let it dry out and then perform a flush until you hit your desired ppm and resume as normal. Usually the process I follow if I have a salt build up that high. Good luck!

For the record, I couldn't disagree more with Albert. I personally find your journaling to be very meticulous and informing. Your grow style works very well for what ya'll are trying to accomplish. Adding in the very tastefully done pictures of a beautiful woman, who is obviously very involved in the growing process, is just icing on the cake. I think cannabis is more than just a plant that gets you high, it's a lifestyle that includes a very wide variety of people, including those of us who happen to appreciate females whether they are 2 legged or multi branched. Let the haters hate. Ya'll just keep on doing what you do

@@pizzaman841, Thanks for kind words! We know our style may not be to everyone's taste but we do try to maintain a sense of respect for people's opinions and for the GrowDiaries community in general. We also recognize that everyone interprets things differently and we do want to reiterate that we respect all people, all body types, all genders & orientations, races and religions. What we create and share here is done in a light-hearted way that we feel reflects our lifestyle and the nature of our relationship and growing experiences. We've learnt a lot through tracking our grows and through being able to connect and discuss with more knowledgeable growers here. We do value the variety and variation of the Cannabis community and we're just trying to carve out our own unique space here at GrowDiaries. It's always nice to know that people appreciate it, so thanks!

Everything is looking great. I'm loving the color your starting to get. Just this week I've been seeing the same. I'm also feeling you on the smell profile. Right now it's very mild sweet but no cheese, or vanilla, or some of the other descriptors. Nonetheless she is a beautiful plant that looks like it has a lot of potential. I can't wait to see how this one shapes up. Keep up the great work. 😀

@Treighfunky, yep, seems like every day the smell profile changes but we were expecting a bit more of that classic "cheese" smell. We're not disappointed though, they smell wonderful! 👍

If you have any desire to breed, clone plants one and two and cross them for a more or less stable parent for crossing later. As long as they have desirable traits obviously.

@Learning, These were freebie seeds from FastBuds that we won through one of their contests here and we've got plenty of other seeds so no problem there. We're not writing this grow off just yet though. It may not be a record setter but we should still be able to pull a few decent buds from these girls... 🤞✌️

@VanCplGrows, Yeah I wouldn't try during flowering as I would think it's to late. Do you have more seeds? Is it worth it to you to buy more if not? Personal decision here obviously.

@Chronicbastard, Ya, we're currently use "RAW" brand microbes and in previous grows we've used mycorrhizae. We've been using them in our veggie garden for years to great success. Great White and ReCharge are tricky to find in-store in Canada but we do have lots of alternatives and do plan to continue trying different products. 👍

@VanCplGrows, that's awesome! 3 in a 2x4 would be pushing some serious light with some nice colas. I have the 225 with the QB96 in a 2x2.5 and just switched to flower. Really excited to see how it does! Great grows as always and keep it up!

@L_Tetragrammaton, we actually really love the 360 Elite! Those QB96 Elite V2 boards are pretty amazing and we do like the built in bluetooth controller. We do wish they had've incorporated a manual knob to adjust the light intensity as well though. As much as we love the clean look of the pre-built fixture, i think that if we had to do it again we would go with a build-it-yourself option, maybe using 3 QB96 V2 boards for a 2x4 space and placing the ballast outside of the tent. No complaints here though, it's a great light!

Love the setup with the aircon and the air exchange! very creative. Looks like it could be very effective to manage a small grow space 👌

@VanCplGrows, excellent to hear - thanks for the feedback.
VanCplGrows
VanCplGrows
@HazeyBobby, Thanks! Yes, it does work quite effectively to help manage our grow environment. At the moment, it does require a lot of manual adjustments, depending on the outside temperature. We would love having a bit more automation involved, as far as adjusting the ratio of outside air to A/C air, but for such a small grow space the costs associated with that kind of automation don't really make sense. For the most part, it works fine for us as is. 👍🌱
