Hey guys, I hope you appreciate good quality macro shots of beatiful plants, so I started as promised my second grow on this site:
I started with 25 Royal Cookies clones from a mother already harvested and revegged. All clones were dip in Clonex rooting gel and put to root on a small DIY cloning tray with an aquarium air pump and water heater to make sure the roots are warm and grow quickly, specially in winter. On a side note, the entire grow room really benefited from this big water container irradiating heat as this room is closed but on the outside/backyard, so it's getting almost freezing every night.
It's a long road until flowering and being able to capture amazing macro shots of this plants, but you can hop to my other (current) diary to see how amazing my OG Kush are doing until chopping in the next couple of weeks!
Day #9 Update: No roots but in my experience this time of year it will take up to 14 days so better to not mess too much with the cloner lid and the clones. The leaves are looking amazing, a couple of big leaves yellowing (with always is a good sign of rooting soon), so hopefully the next update will have some root progress pictures!
No nutrients at all, just replenishing the water evaporated on the cloning tray as the heater it's really doing a good job there.
Day #20 Update: Didn't look for a long time and roots are huge at this day, so they must been already Ok for transplant around day 12-14, at least for some of them, but still it's amazing to see this healthy, explosive root growth.
Will be transplanting soon to 1 liter pots, having them grow a little bit on a separate tent with a closer 450w Viparspectra, and then pick the best three to do a complete grow under 450w and the other 3 best to grow under the 600w Vipar (after harvesting the OG Kush).
I will be updating very soon with some after transplant pictures!
Update Day #33: The babies are growing blazingly fast, take a look at the new pictures two days after the previous one, amazing progress!!!
Update Day #31: Two of the clones didn't make it, were tiny and the roots didn't sustain the minimum for survival.
Still 18 Royal Cookies clones did make it and are getting ready for the next stage:
This week we will be feeding Top Crop Deep Underground + Top Veg + Superthrive + Our Own Spectacular Veggies & Compost Tea, and make a clone quality sorting table one week from now, to select which will go to the flowering tents, and the others will go back to mothers and clones room to wait for their turn in the future.
If you love high quality macro shots of the best buds, take a look at my other grow and subscribe if you enjoy!
Day #40 Update: The girls are looking amazing, I have been watering just plain water for the past week because they showed some early clawing and some burnt tips, but that also might have something to do with the transplant and damaging a little the roots, as they had huge roots and was difficult to pot them on 1 liter pots.
Comparing with the previous weeks they have stretched and grown a lot! They had some LST and the bottom top two nodes were cut to help with the straightness and making watering easier in the future.
We're very close to harvesting the OG Kush on the other tent, so in the next couple of days we will be choosing the best 6 Royal Cookies clones, transplanting them to 24 liter textile pots, and start the flowering weeks in the two tents with the 450w and 600w in parallel.
I hope you enjoyed the update, the quality of the pictures. I will be working harder to bring up the top quality content to my possibilities.
Happy smokes!
Day #46 Update: Anoter watering with plain water, you can see on the updated pictures they're showing green growth already. I will water with Top Veg the next time soil is dry. Also I will be pruning the bottom yellower leaves, and making sure diatomaceaus earth is applied again to avoid any leftover red spider mite.
Day #45 Update: A full day of the girls on the new tent under the bigger 600w led, also a really hot day, they really enjoyed the fan pointing directly. The soil was a little bit dry today so watered with plain water this time and made sure some runoff are seen, as they're new transplanted pots and there are some dry spots inside for sure.
Day #44 Update: transplanted 9 Royal Cookie clones to 3 liter pots. Spent a good portion of the day sieving compost and soil to get a softer, amazingly looking substrate, and watered with Deeper Underground to make sure the roots, that were very crammed on the tiny pots, develop and fill the new containers pretty quickly. I also cleaned up everything on the grow room before transplanting, to make sure the less amount of pests are left for this grow.
I hope you enjoy this updates, while I work on the next batch of quality pictures for this grow!
Happy smokes!
Day #50 Update!
We're wrapping up the first week after transplanting the Royal Cookie clones to 3 liter pots, and they also had a very light Top Veg feed for the first week of vegging in the grow tent.
You will notice how all the white hairs from previous week are gone and the plants moved quickly from that flower/pre-flower state on the 1 liter pots, to grow even a little height, and lots of horizontal, vegetative growth.
As they will continue stretching for at least two or three weeks, we will be switching to 12/12 flowering time tomorrow, and start counting the estimated 68-88 days for this strain, always keeping an eye on trichome development to make decisions.
We will be doing some LST, light stem pinching and pressing, but probably not too much bending. This is to make sure all the girls get to the same height at the start of flowering.
Hopefully, they will be amazing subjects for macro pictures, so stay tuned if you love great quality photos.
Happy smokes!
Day #58 Update: they are looking huge, the difference in size is really noticeable. They really need a defoliation very soon as they seem to be producing spinachs instead of fan leaves!
Day #59 Update: defoliated and took a huge amount of fan leaves with really thick, spinach looking stems, lol.
Also fed 2ml Top Bloom right just after defoliating as substrate was really dry.
Will be doing some extra defoliation in the afternoon and probably update later before wrapping up this week.
Hope you like and enjoy!
Happy smokes!
Day #69 Update: Buds are looking so strange, took some macro shots, hope you enjoy!
Day #63 Update: Did a huge defoliation this week, removed lots of fan leaves, and left only single leaves that look like revegged but have some trichomes.
Fed with Top Bloom, diluted at 50%, they doesn't seem to be needing much at this stage.
Day #76 update: they're looking amazing, have been feeding Bloom + Candy nutrients, still diluted but they're huge with tiny 3 liter pots, so having the fan blowing makes them really thirsty.
This is showing in smell production, bud fattening and white hairs exploding.
Will update soon with some macro stacked pictures of the trichomes at this stage, stay tuned!
Happy smokes!
