Day 1 is 07/15/2020, seed has been planted in a jiffy pod, and placed inside a soil mix of coco coir and Fox Farms Happy Frog. Cheers to the 2020 solo cup challenge!
The seed popped out of the soil at day 4. Day 6 she had her helmet removed with some assistance. Day 7 she shows 3 leaves, I’m guessing 1 didn’t make it do you the shell staying on too long, but this has happened before, so no worries! She will be moved to veg tent as soon as she does some stretching.
This little auto is taking off! I got some new nutes from Advanced Nutrients this week, started adding some piranha to the mix, as well as planting some white Dutch clover to maximize nitrogen and root health! I’m really shooting for something amazing with this solo cup grow, and I can’t wait to see how it grows compared to its sister in the 3 gal pot!
The solo cup auto is growing like a weed. I’m taking a risk and topping her while the roots still have room to grow, I’m hoping it pays off in the end. I have new products coming in this week! More nutrients from Advanced Nutrients and Green Planet, and a Mars Hydro to put in the tent! I’m going to cut some power from the SF1000 and run 2 lights for better coverage.
I’ll also be introducing sensizym to the mix to keep the roots healthy, since they will be trapped here forever. I’ll also be throwing Liquid W8 into my flowering plants, and eventually this little girl.
The clover has taken over the bottom of the cup and I can’t wait to see how it affects it.
Thanks for looking!
Took a risk, but topping her was a complete success! Recovered in 5 days and is back to rapid growth! The whole cup smells like fresh grass, with a hint of candy.
New lights will be in this week, and I introduced sensizym to the mix to help keep the roots healthy inside this small container.
If it’s anything like it’s big sister, flower and stretch should start next week!
Switched my lighting and custom room all around to make more space in my sun room. Check my zombie/Sweety diary to see the lighting changes! Lower growth is starting to grow out, and I have not yet had to apply LST to this girl. She’s been switched to 24hr blurple lighting while her big sister finishes her final week of flower before harvest! This will be the last veg diary, as of this morning on 8/17 there is no second guessing the pistols, but you’ll see those next week. 😉
Exciting week! Week 1 of flower!
Pistols started showing last Sunday, but I kept the update as veg.
She started to stretch rapidly, so I pulled some garden wire out, tied her arms down and threw her in the window!
The stretch is just as it was with her big sister (which I just harvested!) and she is growing like a WEED!
Haha...
My favorite part of this whole thing is getting to see the roots at the end of all this! 5 weeks of flower should put it right on the money... I can’t wait!
Holy stretch! The flowering stretch is REAL! This has turned into a window plant due to my veg tent being filled with seedling. She loves the light and has had praying leaves all week, and her smell is starting to pop up!
Flower is going well, 4 main bud sites, and 9 lower sites.
Can’t wait to see the outcome!
Flowers are starting to stretch and stack!
This week I sped up the clovers decomposing process by chopping everything ha going outside the cup. As the clover dies it will provide a nutrient boost to the flower, which with the length of this plant, it’s going to need.
She’s gotten much taller since starting flower.
So the window wasn’t cutting it for light anymore, so I moved her into the flower tent right next to the Zombie clones. She is still praying every day, and the buds are starting to stack and bulk. I’m having to water it every day now. I really hope the sensizym is doing it’s job of breaking down old roots, because I would put money down that this thing is maxed out on root space.
At this point I’m just riding out the grow. The buds are starting to pack on a hit and the lanky arms of this plant fall over every day. Seeing the other grows in this competition really made me see how much talent some of these growers have, and how putting a seed into a solo cup is truly an art!
Judging by the trichomes, this plant has probably 2-3 weeks left, and I don’t see the buds stacking much more. Oh well, I’ve had fun with it and the harvest will be worth the effort.
Until next week!
I’m going to say this girl has maybe another week.
If you go to my last Sweety auto diary, you’ll see it had very little stretch, and stacked like a body builder...
That is not the case here.
This strain is 50/50, and I think this pheno is sativa leaning, but we won’t know that until the smoke test...
This poor thing has become such a chore!
I definitely thing topping and mainlining it has negatively affected the end structure. It’s long, lanky, and fairly weak as the buds gain weight.
The smell is VERY fruity and candy like.
I’ve got the whole thing wrapped in itself because I have no gardening wire to tie everything up.
I’m ready to chop and taste this poor thing.
Holy smokes it’s finally over. This thing WREAKS of weed candy. It was a chore during the last 3 weeks, it kept getting knocked over, stepped on, and under watered. The yield was only 6 grams under what I guessed. That sounds sad don’t it?
It’s over.
It’s finally over.
9.1 grams.
All that for 9.1 grams.
I am not going win, but I def learned a lot from this grow!
It’s terps are about the same as my first Sweety, but the high lasts a bit longer in this one. Still needs a time to fully cure, but I don’t see me breaking it out for a while anyways.
Looking good. Question for you, though. Please excuse my ignorance. I have seen a few growers running cover crops. This is a new concept to me and was trying research, but it became cumbersome. I figured I'd ask you since you are utilizing cover crops yourself, I was hoping you might be able to educate me or drop a link from a reputable source. Look forward to seeing what your solo cup ladies do! Good luck and happy growing!
@FoTwenny, I pop them about 2 days before I take the seedling out of its dome, this way the clover seeds sprout after the seedling has had time to shoot a good tap root, and the clover won’t over grow the seedling. Typically day 2-3 after the seed pops.
@PremiumNamaste, sounds like a lot of benefits from a small investment. You just get seeds on Amazon? I saw you added them after week 2. Is this when you'd recommend adding them to the top of the soil?
@FoTwenny, of course! So in the beginning of its life, the clover adds air and nitrogen to the soil, adding to the nutrient intake, as well as reducing risk for soil based pests. When the clover has flowered, you “till” it into the soil and it adds more air from rooting up and also a beneficial microbe blend when it begins to die and compost itself, giving off beneficial microbes during the bloom phase! White Dutch clover matures around day 50 from seeding. Hope this helps!
Looking healthy as hell in that little solo cup! You inspired me to plant some white Dutch Clover on the girls that just switched to 12/12. The vegging girls will get some about a week after they pop. Looking good my friend, happy growing!
