Week Beginning Sunday, 11/29/2020 Plants were lollipopped late last week. 11/29: Removed the girls and cleaned the entire tent. (I now only use distilled water in the humidifier. Lesson learned.) Removed the trellis as I am going to go with the traditional (free-standing) growing technique instead of ScrOG or SoG - this time. I want to make sure my fundamental skills are solid before wandering into advanced growing techniques. Performed a thorough light leak test and patched anything that was leaking. Inside the tent it is very, very dark. The final action was light watering and a very small dose of nutrients (about 1/2c). After that, I put the girls back in the tent and let them rest before plunging them into darkness for> 24 hours to initiate flowering mode. 11/30: Double-checked the ROOM containing the grow tent for light leaks and found quite a few. I spent a good half hour making sure the ROOM is as dark as possible at all times. Light can travel through the air intake vent, so it's totally worth it to ensure the plants are kept in the darkest dark possible. I know my way around the room anyway, the tent is now in total darkness. And guess what, the humidifier needed filling, so the "knowing it like the back of my hand" in the dark is a good skill to have. I unzipped the tent and BOOM! the dankness was AMAZING. They are indeed headed into flowering! 12/01: Brought the girls out of darkness and into flowering mode on a 12/12 schedule. Soil dampness was good. Upped the PAR levels for this week (early flowering stage). 😎

Grow Questions

I have a seedling that is alive but has not popped its cotelydon leaves open yet. It almost looks like part of the seed might be stuck and holding it back. As it stands now, I'm thinking I should just leave it alone and give it a chance to finish the job. Recommendations?

Use your fingernail or tweezers to remove it. It will come off with little resistance. Just make sure you don't tear the roots by doing it, she's very fragile right now, can't be yanking her outta the ground.

Let's say I have different sets of seedlings that will go into a veg tent 2 weeks apart. For example, week 1 = first set of seedlings to veg. Week 3, add to veg tent Week 5, add the next set. Is this even legit? Can you just extend the veg period until they all catch up?

Hey! Yes it could work but I don’t recommend it. I’ll try and break this down. What you want is an even canopy to get even light coverage to have even growth and in the end nice buds. The first ones you add will be taller than the last, now to have an even canopy what you could do is train the first ones as they grow, doing some LST or topping them, so that as they grow your limiting their height so the others can catch up. With a bit of work you could get that done. But the last sets wouldn’t be as advanced as the first ones and won’t have the same size or yield the same even though having the same height. Basically to do this you’ll need to do a lot of training. I recommend you just pop them in all at once and even doing that you’ll have troubles with getting an even canopy and having the same height. Even more if there’s different strains.. sativas and indicas which grow differently. Not even to mention is some or all of them are Autoflowers. If you check out my diaries I’ve got mostly indicas and Teo sativas.. they’re all in the same tent, started together and there’s quite some difference in height.. which took training and adding support to raise the ones that are shorter. Hope this helped you make your mind up. Any questions let me know. Good luck and happy Growing.

@Ferenc, You should look at the plant photos starting from week 1 and into week 7. I can't believe how this plant's health has turned around! SO AWESOME NOW!! I keep forgetting how resilient cannabis can actually be :)

that is a quite common issue, the seed shell remaining stuck. You need to VERY CAREFULLY remove it without damaging the baby leaves.
