So I am finally back! I will be growing a few plants and pulling off a quick head stash harvest before we move. I have started to make the transition to organic gardening practices because I have become extremely interested in soil science. If you are too, check out the book Teaming With Microbes, One Straw Revolution, and The Lean Farmer. I also will be using knowledge/wisdom from a huge collection of extensive research conducted during my 3 month sabbatical. My main inspirations are Rasta Jeff, Mendodope, Subcool, MinnesotaNice, Brownguy420, The Dude and Scotty Real, Tad Hussey, and many more that I can't name them all. Thank you!
This grow will be using two different soil recipes. CQ1: is the Mephisto Autoflower Super Soil and CQ2 is a home made variant on the Subcool Super Soil recipe. For CQ1 I filled the bottom half of the pot with Light Warrior, then added 20% earth worm castings (ECW), the recommended amount of Mephisto Auto Super Soil, and mixed thoroughly. Then I added the other half the pot in light warrior and mixed in 15% EWC thoroughly. For CQ2, I added my super soil mix to the bottom 1/3rd of the pot in full strength. Next I added some Light Warrior and made a 2" buffer layer with 50/50 supersoil to Light Warrior mixed. Then I added the other 2/3 of the pot with light warrior and mixed in about 20% ECW.
Feeding for this run will be limited to top dressing organic, dry amendments, nutrient teas, aerated compost teas, and recharge on an as needed basis.
I soaked the peat plugs in some water with kelp meal. Before I placed the seeds in the plugs, I sprinkled Mycorhizae into the hole then dropped the seed on top to ensure tap root infection. Mycorhizae can be seen enveloping the seedling at the base of the stem and looks like a mold or stringy grey filaments. This fungi forms a symbiotic relationship with the plant by attaching to the root, extending a network of it's roots, obtaining plant nutrients, then passing them back along the fungal roots back to the plant where it trades the nutrients to the plant for carbon that the fungi needs. This fungi effectively increases the reach of a plant's root system exponentially.
I placed the pots full of soil in the grow environment and watered them with Recharge 3 days before I planted the seeds in them. I do this to help the soil settle, moisture to distribute more evenly, and allow microbe life to begin to form in the pot well before the plants are planted.
Super excited to try Mephisto's highest sativa strain!

Big shout out to my friend @southshoregirls on IG for gifting these seeds to me! Also much love to Mephisto for the freebies with my super soil. You folks are awesome.
@GrimbolTheDruid, hoping for some pep in your step nugs! Well judging by there looks I think your gonna make off hella good. Loving your all organic feel! Love companion plants as well. I use to have basil chilling to ward off thrips. Careful you don’t cut your fingers on those sharp leaves!! 😂😂
These plants in this grow will come out beautifully I'm sure! Such care and passion are put into your work. I'm excited to see the next update. Keep it up!
@bobo420,
Growing cannabis is how I discovered a love for soil life and then by extension other plants and now I just love it all and can’t wait for summer so I can garden again outside.
@GrimbolTheDruid, you're welcome! I often have some other plants in the tent too, start the seedling or clones of something that goes in the garden, or just grow it till the end in the tent :) it's interesting to play with plants, glad to see more people do it ;)
@bobo420,
The little clovers just make me happy haha. I am thinking about getting some peppers and beans started though in other pots in the corner maybe. 🤔
Thanks for stopping by!
