Rheaun613 Experiment grow to test a DIY slow dripper head. Preparing veg tent! Seeds were soaked for 24 hours in B-52 and Voodoo Juice and germinated in 3" pot. Timing and temp conditions seem to have been spot on. Two days later growth was beyond the first set of leaves so planted directly in 5 gallon pot. See previous diary Speedy Chile to know how I prepare my medium, nutes and additives for transplant in 5 gallon.

Rheaun613 Foliar spray with Cal-Mag and B-52 with lights on between two to four times daily. Voodoo juice was added in one watering only early in the week after a dry period. Would like to set up watering on timer, for now letting the medium semi dry out on two occasion in second week. Feed every watering (250PPM) and about 1L three days and 3L on final day all at around 250PPM.

Rheaun613 Going by PPM, ml is approximate. This week I decided to stop my experiment with the dripper irrigation head I made and split the rootball. Using Voodoo Juice and the micro organisms in my Promix it was very surprising how much the rootball stayed intact when it was cut/split from one 5 gallon and transplanted into separate 5 gallon smartpots. My room and flower tent is ready where I have setup a more functional dripper irrigation of four drippers per plant with each a valve control on a 6 option digital minute timer I fashioned together. Since the plants are ready for steady feeding they have been moved from the veg tent area. End of week: HAVE SWITCHED TO MEGACROP 2 PART Have used the pHperfect Sensi with no noticeable issues for 6 months. Trying to keep bottles clean but they are made to leak around the lid no mater how clean you keep them and seep down the sides when mixing. The Voodoo Juice and B-52 are completely sedimented but seem to work still however going forward I will be using a more functional and seemingly very much the same type of formula product called Megacrop 2 part. Switching at end of week, early in veg to get used to the product.

Rheaun613 Using grams/gallon and not ml/gal shown above. Started using some PHdown to ph waater to 6.4 before mixing and after mixing to ph 5.7(veg), 5.9(pre-flower), 6.2 (flower) Feeding with timers 6 times per day and 3 gallon res lasts 3 days. The first two time slots drip about one liter total to get some runoff and the last four are a consistent minute/350ml. Two dwarves have maintained good growth but have broken multiple parts of one plant, the other is looking prolific albeit a dwarf. Bending and tucking with some lower defoliation every day and looks like they're about to stretch.

Grow Questions

The ratio of Sulfur is something like 20% higher using the Megacrop two part. They say it has added magnesium, but when I input my numbers on their site PPM calculator it's much higher sulfur than magnesium. So I add 1 gram per gallon of Epsom, Why/what ppm ratio do I need here?

hey there, sulfur is good but only really used during the flowering, magnesium is important throughout but it doesnt relate to the N in any way, more like it regulates NPK in general as well as its important in photosynthesis, so it's more sensitive to the amount of daylight hours than to the NPK as well as it becomes important at different stages of the plants growth for example during stretch periods. so to answer your question, your PPM is spot on but you can lower it with no problem by using less mgsufur and more epsom salt. Hope this helps ! 🚀

Rheaun613 Had to do two dryback period in week 4 and 5 of three days as I was pumping much solution in them with six on/off schedules on the timer and the wet felt pots developped a different smell, maybe the Megacrop smell and or ammonia buildup. The two dryback periods made roots come to the sides of the feltpot interior and resulted in really pronounced growth bursts when the medium had dried for three days although the stretch period is starting today which contributes to the double growth. Pics of Sep25 posted at top show before and after of feeding after first dryback, or the growth after a feed and a dark period follwing three day dryback. Future grows will need more drainage by adding 30% perlite. I lack finesse in my defoliation technique, for this purpose, and the plants being dwarf and autoflowers isn't optimal for training but they are growing nicely with multiple evenly spaced tops. For nutrients this week I will gradually substite PartB (15-0-0) for Bud Explosion PK booster and at some point do a foliar of B-52 and CalMag to wash the stomatas and ready them for big flowering buds. Broken Vivosun zipper, one month of use, locking me out of my veg tent. Amazon not replacing it so not sure what to do but looks like it's coming down.

Rheaun613 Added 10grams Calcium additive powder on top of my medium to each plant. Started acidifying and keep aerating my filtered water to 5.6 staying under 100PPM before mixing and my pH is more in range at every stage now, it seems. EDIT this was good for seedling and early veg but ultimately, for my method in mostly peat meda, it's been dropping a bit too low by pre-acidifying at 5.4-5.6 100+PPM. When not a dryback day I'm feeding 1 to 2 gallons of 800-1000PPM each per watering cycle (6 times daily). I'm adding BE 1/3 gram/gallon and lowering Part B 10% this week. Runoff of 25% per watering cycle and EC is between 2 and 3 in my pots. EDIT: Daily runoff per plant of 1.5L for total +1gallon weekly runoff per plant. EC in medium was flushed lower once to maintain a steady rise between 2 and 3; second flush this week coincides with the flip but using Megacrop so nutrients are gradually changed vs full recipe change. Reservoir up to 4 gallons feeds for two days-then drying back two days. Not sure if they are stretching since they're dwarves...EDIT: actually they just showed sex this week. HST done on tops but no pics.

Rheaun613 I am realizing a ramping up of growing medium EC to the point it already required a flush mid-veg; Megacrop recommends feeding at 1 EC and rying back my peat based media seems to increase it's EC by 50% of feed every dryback. On next grows I will begin at low PPM and base using more Part B (N,CA 15-0-0) in lieu of 20% less Part A...and as I started to do this grow feeding Part B progressively switched to BE (Potassium) and additive CalMag. Switched to HPS and 12/12 to speed things along. Actually all my grows now going with constant 12/12 under duo 400/600 HID from seed for simplicity as I want to grow my plants in 6x4 both photo and auto strains.

@@Rheaun613, it's almost impossible to over do it with Epsom salt or cal mag in general, but many growers still manage to find a way to over do it, knowledge comes with experience and a bit of intentional learning, just keep taking notes and it will " click " pretty quickly i'm sure

@CRiSPrGrow, so Epsom is less likely to unbalance nutes vs overusing NPK, got it. I'm also already measuring each ppm seperately just haven't done enough runs to completely grasp how i'm going to change it up over transition especially about cutting N. To keep that simple and optimal we watch the plant I understand that 👌.

@@Rheaun613, great f-ing question growmie, see not all PPMs are created equal Epsom ppm is "good ppm" (not a technical term lol) so that means that it hardly really counts (just my personal opinion) just dont over do it and you can basically add it with eyes closed. NOT so with NPK especially PK boosters. What you want to do is measure your PPM after adding each element starting with NPK to get a more fine grained idea of what you're doing. The "bad PPM" (again, not a technical term) is NPK and others that can lead to burns and lock outs , so that's what you want to keep under control... am i making any sense?
