Re-titled this diary to pick up on a single white widow that I was growing as a control to some Dark Devil Auto seeds but those all died for some inexplicable reason so I just kept on with the girl that was growing! Here we go with White Widow DWC round 2! I have a feeding guide now that I am using based upon my last grow but this with ADEQUATE CAL/MAG BECAUSE EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT USED RO/DISTILLED WATER NEEDS SOME CAL MAG FROM SOME SOURCE BECAUSE THE CAL/MAG FROM THE FLORA TRIO IS NOT ADEQUATE FOR GROWTH. There, hope that's clear. I will show again that this strain loves cal/mag!

Week 2, the lights are at 50% of power right now. I did a basic light meter test using an app on my phone. probably not super accurate but gave me some idea of the 'lux' and I realized it was a bit too intense. Might have killed the dark devils but the white widow loves the light. It seems to tolerate quite a bit of nutrients early on as well.
2020-09-14 Start of a new week. The root structures are growing in very nicely! The difference from the 12th to the 14th is crazy. I upped the cal/mag to close to the full dosage but kept the nutrients pretty low still with the 'seedling' recommendation amount. It's been drinking about 10 ppm per day without me topping up and the pH has been very steady around 6.0. Looking great. New growth is bright green, newer leaves look very healthy. Hoping I can get even more potent buds from this one because EVERYONE loved the last harvest!
I have some slowed development and strange phenotypes with my autoflowers. I have photoperiod seeds in the exact same conditions EC=0.6, pH=5.5-5.8 that look fine. Are my nutrients too low for this stage? I didn't want to poison the autos so I went low. The roots are growing!!
I feel like the Lights could be the key?... did you dimm your Light or is it running full power=?

You are growing with aquality light, with a high light output
Plants are transpirating, and water evaporates. Nutrients remain..in the plant... and are more concentrated
I would go with more distance// dimm the light... for such alittle pLnt 50 watts are way enough to grow
2020-09-27 Day 25 I topped this week and also gave too much FloraGro for what the plant was ready for. I think the dark leafy green is a result of a near nitrogen toxicity. I've reduced the amount for next week. Otherwise, healthy development and I will be flipping it to flowering in 1 week! Learned my lesson last time!
2020-10-04 End of week 5 has come! This week I went a bit lower on nutrients and evened them back out. The new growth became lighter green and the darker leaves still stayed massive and healthy looking. Chopped them off today when I setup the mainline. Looking pretty good in my opinion. Canopy is ready and tied down. Let's see if I can control the height of the plant this time! The first grow I was far too light on nutrients which made my plants grow slower and messed up their transition. I think I am finally doing it right. Very close to flipping the White Widow to 12/12!
2020-10-10 Vegetative is going well but the plant is looking kinda wilty and not standing up proudly as I expect. I have plants right next to it that are perking up a lot more. I think I gave too much FloraGro early on and created some kind of stunted development. Leaves were deep green but newer growth was yellow then faded to a lighter green. Interesting.
2020-10-27 Plant is looking ok. Giant fan leaves that will have to come off for flowering. It looks healthy but very bushy. I had crazy stretch with the last run so it's weird watching it grow so bushy! Still looks pretty strong.
2020-10-19 to 2020-10-25 Transition nutrients and 12/12 lighting began this week! I am not having the insane stretch on this go around with white widow which is kind of nice. The main difference is that I gave probably too much nutrients the entire time but at least I didn't have any deficiencies? Expecting a lower yield but my other plants are doing well with the same nutrition. The plants seem to be topping out around ppm=1050 (EC=2.0) and are comfortable there. If you go over, the bucket starts to have nutrient accumulate. Smooth sailing but I haven't been taking a lot of pictures because vegetative is pretty boring. Pre-flowers are coming up next week!
I believe that I stunted the growth of this plant by giving too much nitrogen early on by mistake and then keeping PPM/EC too high early on. I had to start reducing nutrients to get it to start eating again.
Flowers are really starting to develop this week. The hairs on these plants are always interesting to me and the white widow produces my fine white hairs as you'd expect!
Pistils are still white and there are a lot of bud sites! Plant is looking better with reduced nutrients and started to stretch again! Not what I had in mind but at least it's eating again. I looked back on all my grow diaries and I realize I am still over-feeding as my starting position.. I have to change that!
I put up a size comparison photo. The plant on the right is an auto flower about the same age. The white widow was smaller before flowering! But it started to dominate the tent. It was difficult arranging the lighting but I got it to work eventually.
Starting to see some nice swell and a second set of white hairs appearing! Excited for them to start turning orange because then I know I'm almost there!
Orange hairs are here and we are in the final few weeks! I wasn't able to take many pictures in December because it was so busy for me. Flowers are bulking up and trichomes are filling in nicely.
This grow was better than my last one. I got real dense buds not the feathery weak light buds I got on my first grow. Definitely improving and the upgrade to my lighting system definitely helped. This grow doesn't have the greatest smell though and I'm not sure why. Smells pungent but fruity, I am not getting any real 'cannabis' odors which I find weird. The smoke tastes great though and there's no off-flavours or contamination. 50% germination rate again though which sucks. All in all, I'm happy.
@Mrs_Larimar,these plants are weeks behind. i killed them and started some new ones. gonna let this diary die/expire. 6/12 free Sweet Seeds products have not produced functional plants now while other seeds are doing just fine in the xact same conditions. I would never buy seeds from them so I'm glad I got the free pack.
@Hoodoo,Iam a big friend of Sweet seeds " Red Family".... not the biggest Yielder ( in my case) but so delicious.

@Mrs_Larimar,thanks for commenting. I totally agree. I have the white widow growing normally there and I started 7 other photoperiod seedlings under same conditions and they look great. I think you were right about the light being too intense. I reduced it to 50% a few days ago and thats when the roots started to grow. The new growth doesn't look great but at least something's happening. The roots are definitely developing every day. Hoping they right themselves. I have seen a lot of really ugly Sweet Seeds seedlings for some reason (even on their own site) so I am hoping with the power of hydroponics that I can get a decent yield by the end.
Great diary! You grow the same as me, just had a quick question. How do you use the Great White in your DWC? Do you premix with water and how much do you use? Thanks you so much for your input!
