Winter 2020 Indoor - Gorilla Girl XL

Njanne Starting a new winter indoor grow. I'm excited to try out my new light set up and some sweet new genetics! Putting the seeds in water today... fingers are crossed for a good germination rate! UPDATE: one seed is slow to put down the taproot... the other seeds put down a curled up root... she's in dirt now... fingers are crossed she breaks the dirt.

Njanne One of two seeds took. That's okay by me. She's small but looking good. I'm working on the RH... gotta pull out my humidifier and my fans...

Njanne We got the relative humidity up to 45-49% and the temperatures down to 27C. The plants are growing nicely. She'll be starting nutrients this week :)

Njanne She's picking up some momentum now and I think nutrients has a lot to do with it. She's at 3 nodes already and the bottom node seemed to sprout out of nowhere the other day...

Njanne She is short and dense and very bushy. She's coming along nicely. It's an interesting pheno for veg stage... I've never seen such a squat plant before LOL...

Njanne Growing nicely. No signs yet of flowering or stretching...

Njanne She's stretching out here... next week she will be in flower... flushing and preparing to swap to flowering nutrients. She's a bushy mofo with loads of branching. I love this one.

Njanne She's growing well. Started a bit of LST on main cola. She's looking for humidity. 45% is not enough. i'm going to increase it to 50 for a bit to see if leaf health improves.

Njanne Spider mites!! I have to clean out my grow room and treat all of my plants. Fuuuuck! I guess this explains a LOT. It's the first time I have run into this. I have a detergent insect spray specifically for spider mites and I have used it on other house plants, but I have never seen it on my cannabis plants before. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. Stay tuned.

Njanne Spider mites spoiled this grow. She is not going to bounce back... she lost almost all of her fan leaves. I'm going to push through harvest, but expectations are low.

Njanne I'll be taking trichomes photos this week... I think we are getting close to a harvest. Won't be long now.

Njanne So, I have to start by saying that this grow is not really reflective of the potential of these genetics, and I would really like to grow this variety again to demonstrate that. In this case, I made a couple of dumb mistakes... and I really should have known better. In the fall I brought dirt into my grow room that I had saved in the back yard over the summer, and then because that wasn't dumb enough, I agree to take on a plant from a friend that was moving to Mexico. Between those two things I ended up with spider mites in my grow room. The Gorilla Girl XL plant started off cute and short and bushy like a mofo.... and then she stretched out nicely. Her buds were frosty and dense... but the spider mites ate her roots, and attacked her leaves. I treated her with a mild insecticidal soap spray which kept the infection at bay, but I was never able to get her back to healthy. She was strong enough to make it to harvest... and I was lucky she even survived. We will do a smoke report later today... stay tuned for the update.
