This is a 3rd generation clone that was flowered, harvested, revegged, and became a mother plant for a couple of years. Given to me by a friend who did not have room to perform a flowering cycle with this plant. As I had just finished my Dutch dragon I decided to take her on as a project.
She was pretty root bound and I knew she would need a larger pot of soil to flower her. I performed some root pruning on her and stuck her in a 7 gallon pot of hp promix with some worm castings and a little power bloom.
The plan is to clean her up a bit and do a scrog. Will be a challenge with her crazy monster crop body but she needs to be tamed.
It looks like their may have been some thrips on the leaves as challenge number two. I will use some insecticidal soap and hope that does the trick.
One week in and I decide to use some insecticidal soap to see if that will get rid of any thrips that may be there. I let it soak for about 2 hours and then gave her a good rinse. She's still looking ok but her leaves are starting to show signs of stress.
No signs of new thrips damage but the leaves are telling me she's stressed out about the transplant. I'll give her more time to adjust.
Also this week fungus gnats decided to invade. Some sticky traps and diatomaceous earth should do the trick.
She was super shaggy underneath so I shaved her legs and set her up with a scrog. Hopefully i can control the height this way. She's already on the tall side for my tent.
She appears to be happy and healthy now. No sign of thrips or gnats and the leaves have started to come in solid green again. Let's see what this mystery strain can do.
I decided to use some synthetic nutrients with this plant as this is how she was originally raised. Perhaps she would have recovered faster had I started this way. Anyway. I have some leftover green planet duel fuel kit from my white widow grow.
I'll be using half strength for probably 2 out of 3 waterings. I still have some organic stuff I'll probably throw in there to throughout the grow to help improve flavour and smell.
Day 7: she has already started to stretch and is very healthy and happy.
Moving right along. She's seems to be pretty happy and there is some stretching happening everyday. Her ancient woody stem is fattening and splitting open and her other stems are building strength as well to hold up the buds.
Trellis netting I am using is pretty flimsy and the plant just keeps pushing it up towards the light. Lesson learned. Don't cheap out.
She's filled the canopy better than I expected for a monster cropped plant. She's stretching just a little bit every day and the buds are developing very quickly as well. I don't think I've ever seen buddletes at day 12 of flower, hopefully they will end up being big and fat.
Day 20: she's starting to really smell like a sour skunk. Rubbing a little bit of the trichomes smells pretty much like grapefruit which is Kinda nice.
She is doing absolutley fantastic. This is my first time doing a scrog and I am loving it. The canopy is just soaking up the light.
Something I'm trying with this grow is to fertilize with the liquid nutrients 2 times in a row and then water with the #fishshit for the 3rd to utilize the soil amendments. No idea if it will do anything at all but she seems pretty happy for now. This watering schedule is pretty spread out though. She only gets a watering every 4-5 days
Day 28: I've decided to dial back my light to 250 watts. The heat has gotten out of control now that the heat is on in the house. Also, up close, it looks like the leaves are getting light bleached in the area directly under the bulb and radiating out to the edges of the plant which are still healthy green. It's unfortunate, but I cant raise my light any higher. I'm hoping that with the strong development over the last 4 weeks that it will still produce a decent yield.
Switching it up. Going back to organic this week with the hope's of improving terpene and flavour profile.
Hit her with a blast of organics this week. Top dressed with powerbloom. Watered in with iguana juice, water soluble calcium phosphate and #fishshit
Coming along. First red hairs a couple of days ago and the buds are getting a little thicker every day. Not sure if they are going to be big chunky buds but it's looking like I should get a decent yield anyway at this point.
Not much to report this week other than I will start providing nutrient free water.
Day 49: still seems quite healthy and continues to push out new pistils everyday. I would say there are probably about 10% red hairs now. Still a ways to go. Maybe a sativa leaning plant. I would say at least another 2 weeks before harvest.
I guess this is the safe zone now. She's still chugging along healthfully and slowly starting to ripen. Smell is still fairly mild but stronger than last week. This would make a good stealth strain for sure.
Day 52: about 50% of pistils have turned. All trichomes are still clear though.
Going into the ninth week now and she's pretty much stopped putting out new pistils. There are a few random ones everyday but not much. The smell has suddenly spiked and the stench of skunk is very pungent when I open the tent.
Day 58: Most trichomes are still clear but starting to see a few cloudy ones now, and Amber's are starting to show on some of the sugar leaf.
Day 60: the fading of the leaves has become more prominent.
Day 63: patiently waiting on the trichomes now😬
Day 64:Still waiting on trichomes. Slowly getting there. May harvest sometime this week.
Day 68: seeing some good progress on the trichomes. Most are cloudy but still probably about 20% of them are clear. There are a few Amber's on the buds and many Amber's on some of the sugar leaf. Just going day by day and I'll cut it when I think it's ready. The smell has become very pungent like straight up skunk spray. I'm interested to see how the Terps present after curing.
Day 70: she's coming down today. 6/12/2020.
all the buds are trimmed down a bit and are now hanging to dry. Harvest page probably wont be up for about 2 weeks from now. see you then.
This plants best feature is probably its resilience. This plant was a clone of a clone of a clone, flowered, harvested, revegged and became a mother plant herself for a couple of years before being replaced by a further clone that was to become a mother. This was one lucky draw bag seed a friend of mine found and he had run out of room so I offered to flower this mother out. I'm going to guess it is a straight up skunk #1. It just smells like skunk and that's pretty much it. Very mild sweetness and just a touch floral. The bud structure reminds me of the cheese I grew which Is presumed to be a pheno of skunk. It produced well with the low light levels and the top buds have a decent density. The smell during grow didnt really increase until the last couple of weeks and even then was not that strong. Now that its cured the smell is still not the strongest but it is still strong enough to make my wife complain when I open the jars.
This plant is definately sativa leaning in the high as well as what was indicated by the shape of the buds and leaves. The taste reminds me a lot of the dutch dragon I grew but a little less intense, and also less piney. The buds structure was different from that one though, and look more spear shaped and less dense. Just one of those plants you'll never know the real lineage of. Just enjoy it because you may never experience this flower again.
This plant was pretty rough when I got it. She was pretty root bound and there was a lot of crazy re-vegging foliage that needed tending. I discovered when I got her home that there were fungus gnats hiding in the soil too. This grow was a good experience for me. First time I tried root pruning and also the first time I have done a scrog. Unfortunately shortly after I flipped to flower I had to dim the lights from 400 down to 250 as the temp was getting to high once the canopy filled in. I still managed a decent yield even with the lower light probably in part because the high wattage during veg helped build a sturdy structure for the flowers to sit on. It was interesting watching the old woody stem split open as she progressed. Overall I'm happy with the harvest.
@DoDrugs420, maybe one day you will. I'm thinking about trying to s1 it to preserve the genetics. It's a pretty good smoke, but it's the outstanding stability that could make it very useful for breeding with.
@Kin_G, I don't know man, very old school type of strain as far as taste goes. Very skunky and pungent. If i had to guess i would say the potency is probably just under 20%. Still pretty strong, and yeah, very stable genetic. This ones been through a lot of stress and no hermies or anything weird.
