I wasn't planning on running the Purps again right away but there was a change in plans with my SweetSeeds testers not working out as I had hoped. Anyway, the Purps I harvested last time tastes like more 😋 It turned out really nice - super fragrant and tasty - but the yield was a little disappointing. I'm hoping to see if I can get a little more out of her this time around. I know I made a few missteps last time so hopefully I've learned from those mistakes and this run will be smoother - famous last words. 😂 She'll be growing along side some Zkittlez Glue inside my new, and slightly larger tent. Wha-hoo! Bring it, stretch! No issues at all germinating the seed - soaked overnight in distilled water and moved her onto a moistened paper towel between 2 paper plates the next day. Left her on the warming mat overnight. Seed cracked with taproot showing by the next day. Moved the seed into a pete plug and put it in the seed starter inside the tent. After a couple of days a couple of roots started showing through the plug and I then transplanted it into a 5 gallon DWC bucket. "Grandaddy Purps Fast is the result of crossing Purple Urkle with Big Bud and a secret hybrid to impart the fast finish. It is a predominantly Indica F1 strain suitable for cultivation indoors and outdoors which finishes quickly and producing very high levels of THC." Off we go again. Thanks for tuning in ✌️

Hey man, just noticed you got ph issues on this plant too. When’s the last time you calibrated your ph meter? This happened to me early on in 2 of my current DWC grows and turned out my pen just went wonky, and I need to buy a new one, wouldn’t even calibrate anymore. Just thought I’d mention it just in case your having the same issue maybe. Cheers 💨

@StunFlower, I think you got it nailed down now. Cal meg def is so similar to ph swings it’s hard to tell some times, or the ph swing is locking it out sometimes and it’s both... lol But I agree with the backup liquid test kit too, I also do this now to check that my shit is still calibrated. Doesn’t give you bang on measurements but it gives you a good idea. I have 3 ph meters now that kinda work but I don’t trust any of them! Lol I can’t be calibrating them every 2 days either, and a few cheap ones I’ve scrapped over the years as well. I have 1 that I use daily that’s a mid level pen that I keep calibrated best I can weekly, and another 2 that plug in and have leads to measure ph and ec constantly in my 2 reservoirs but they drift a lot and kinda suck to calibrate. Gotta keep them in the storage solution for real I guess...lol I used to use the strips way back when, they work good too.

@russrahl, I've had issues with a faulty PH meter before but I think the meter is currently in range. I use a liquid test kit periodically as well just to make sure the pen isn't out of whack. I didn't give her any CalMag early on and I think she suffered a bit of a deficiency - so it seemed to me anyway. If you think there might be something else going on I'd be keen to hear your thoughts. Thanks for commenting 👍

Super interesting man! What are the odds it starts to flower in 18/6 - truly a scientific phenomenon💪

@CannaScuzzyB, Oh the wacky world of genetics. Full of surprises. 🤡

Is this plant an auto or photo? Looks like it is starting to flower on 18/6. Looks great!

@@motaman311, I was thinking the same thing about the ruderalis and the auto leaning tendencies. I'm certainly not disappointed to see what I'm seeing so far. Maybe I will get that fast flowering finish that I missed out on last time 🤞
motaman311
motaman311commented4 years ago
@StunFlower, It could have some ruderalis (auto) bred in it to help reduce the flowering time and you got an auto leaning plant. I don't fully understand it. Interesting to see. I'm pretty sure my aghani gold was flowering in veg too, but I had to trash it because I wasn't ready for it to flower lol.

@@motaman311, It's apparently a photo. Looks to me like she's starting flowering too. Honestly, I'm mystified as to what's going on here. If I didn't mix things up and this is the Purps, she's a completely different beast than the last time I ran her. She is supposed to be a fast flowering variety but it sure didn't happen before the light flip last time. I guess she could just be a different genotype. We'll see what happens.

I wouldn't worry about the bud size man - they'll fatten up in the next couple weeks I'm sure 👌 My Pakistan Valley grow I ran into variegation with the 1 plant from the start (green on the leaves came in all inconsistent and I thought would really affect the yield since it's the chlorophyll that's messed which is a main building block for tissue here). Overall, the bud turned out pretty unqiue - to the point the seasoned smokers that tried it all went..."this tastes like peaches" - so it has a lot of the geraniol terpene. When I look up this terpene, the whole profile matches the other plant as well since that one tastes like skunky, sour and cheesy - completely different pheno yet same soil, environment, same everything really. 👍 Perfect indica mellow high with that "step of highs" increase, no burn out and can function on a wake and bake 😁

@CannaScuzzyB, Thanks Canna. I'm not really concerned about the size of the buds - just an observation. It's been an interesting grow with some unexpected twists. Bottom line, the plant is healthy so I'm thrilled about that. I had opportunity for an early sample as I accidentally broke one of the tops. Even though it's still not fully ripe I was pleasantly surprised by the potency at this stage of the game. I think she'll be just fine. 👍

Very nice man! - question: Where did you get those supports for the plants (yellow hooks with the string draws)?...looking fantastic as always buddy 👌✊😀

@CannaScuzzyB, Thanks pal! They are retractable plant yoyos and I got them from Amazon. https://www.amazon.ca/Lumo-X-Retractable-Support-Hydroponics-Greenhouse/dp/B085HLCW83/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=plant+yoyo+hangers&qid=1606780504&sr=8-6

Perfect form, should get some decent air circulation around those buds with those tall colas 💪
StunFlower
StunFlowercommented4 years ago
@NuggetPawn, Thanks Nug. Other than the mysterious genetic turn she's taken, I'm really happy with her growth. I'm certainly not having the humidity issues as my last grow. I think venting the tent outside has made a huge difference as well.

More GDP! How fast is this supposed to be?
StunFlower
StunFlowercommented4 years ago
@@motaman311, Flowering time is advertised at 42-49 days; she went longer than that last time. I'm hoping to harvest a bit more from her this time around. Ironically, I effed up the FIMing process in the last run (which I means I just topped her 🤦‍♂️) so I didn't get as much branching as I would have liked. Hoping to do better this time.
