skippitydoodah Germinated 3 CB Dutch Treat seeds (10/15/2020) in a clean shot glass with spring water over night (they all sunk overnight) then moved to a plate in a dark closet with a spring water moistened paper towel. 24 hours later they each had between 1/2" - 3/4" roots sprouting. Placed all 3 into 12 ounce plastic cups with Fox Farm's Ocean Floor soil and began lighting them 24 hours a day in a 4' x 4' x 6.5" tent (10/17/2020) Transplanted 3 CB Dutch Treat seedlings to 5 gallon felt pots with 3/4 Fox Farm's Ocean Forest soil and 1/4 Coco-Coir plus 16 ounces of vermiculite, 16 ounces of perlite, and 24 ounces of diatomaceous earth today (Wednesday October 28th, 10/28/2020) All three had many healthy roots filling the bottom of the cup and some growing back up the side of the cup. I have not added any nutrients yet. I want to wait to make sure they recover from any potential transplant shock before I begin nutrient feeds.

skippitydoodah Week 2: Wednesday 11/04/2020 Not much going on. All three grew an inch and a half over the week. They all spread wider and have many fan leaves. I am considering topping the healthiest looking of the three as soon as it looks tall enough and starts offering some room vertically between fan leaves. Started using 2 tablespoons (6 teaspoons) per gallon of Fox Farms Big Bloom last week along with 2 teaspoons of Fox Farms Grow Big this week, once a week only. If they appear too tall before vegetative state is over, I may omit the nutrients to avoid them continuing to grow taller during flowering stage. Will have to eyeball that as the weeks roll on.

skippitydoodah Too much going on yesterday to post my weekly Wednesday comment but better late than never. All three girls have grown to 10 inches tall and are starting to smell a bit. I've turned on the fan for the charcoal filter and have the outlet hose blowing into a giant bankers box with my three curing mason jars inside of it. Can't smell a thing outside the tent ... FOR NOW. I am definitely topping all three of them either next Wednesday or the following Wednesday. A little nervous to do it. Last grow I over-trimmed while defoliating one of my Blue Dreams at 4 weeks and it died. That's it for this week.

skippitydoodah Sunday, 11/15, I topped all three plants. They haven't fully recovered yet as they haven't grown any taller since after growing 4 inches the four days prior to topping. So, I will hold off another few days to a week on defoliation which, again, will slow/delay growth which might make my 4 week veg period turn into 5 weeks. I will have to play it by ear. I have also been watering less often but with more spring water at each feeding. They currently receive 1/3 a gallon each feeding, every three days, and nutrients with every other feeding. They seem to like this schedule better than less water every two days. Plus, I am afraid to ever have to deal with fungus gnats from over-watering ever again. I nearly lost two of three plants in my last grow from those suckers. It was my own fault. I knew I wouldn't be home for 5 days so I watered them to the point of soaking and runoff. Came home and they were all wilted and leaning over and COVERED in fungus gnats. Took almost two weeks to get them all with sticky traps and diatomaceous earth. Never again.

skippitydoodah Week 5: Topped all three of them a week ago and only one hasn't grown any taller since, while the other two have grown 2 and 4 inches taller. The runt has spread out a bit though. I will be switching from veg to flower this weekend. If these plants are anything like the blue dream I've grown in the past they will still get much taller and at ~16" now, I don't want them to be so tall in the end that they are all light burnt on the main colas. I also trimmed off all of the largest fan leaves. I kept them all in a brown paper bag and they are drying nicely. I will probably grind them up and add them to a steeping ball for some tea OR I might burn a few of them in the tent to increase the carbon dioxide in there. With the major fan leaves gone though, I don't want to overwhelm the plants with too much carbon dioxide so, who knows? I am going to wait until week 7 or 8 to do a major defoliation. Happy Thanksgiving to all! I am thankful the girls didn't die after being topped and trimmed.

skippitydoodah Was having trouble watering the girls with so much under brush so they got their last defoliation until harvest. Any new obstructing leaves will be tucked rather than cut off. I left 8 upper branches on each plant. Added a dose of Cal-Mag at 1 tsp/gallon this week. Also added more Ocean Forest potting soil to each pot as they had settled quite a bit. I moved the runt (16") to where the monster was (21") to see if it is actually a runt or if the monster was just getting better light. Also moved the medium girl (18") to where the runt was. I used to keep the pots where ever they started out but spin them 45 degrees at every watering but it never seemed to make a difference. This time around, I guess I'll be spinning AND rotating positions again. I think they look much better thinned out. I started two clones from removed branches. They haven't fallen over or drooped yet so they might last (?). I plan on keeping them in the tent at 12 and 12. If they survive and thrive, I will keep cloning from these two and continue them straight into flower stage. It has been a fun week this week. They are now also having that familiar smell when I open the tent. Seems a little early. Most of my previous grows didn't start smelling until a few weeks into flowering ... NOT the first week. I hope in a few weeks the whole house doesn't smell like a dorm room.

skippitydoodah It's been a long week. The monster took off and is 29" tall only 2 weeks into flower. The runt is 21" and their sister is 27", with the three averaging 25.6". They've got bud sites all over the place. As they get larger (the plants and the buds), I am certain I may have to string them up somehow. The light is raised as high as it can go and is now 12" from the tip of the monster. I may have to remove the milk crates beneath them, which I do not want to do. I will have to find something shorter and porous that will still allow air to the bottom of the fabric pots. Of the two clones, one is still looking fine but the other is getting a little droopy. I don't think that one is going to make it but I'm not giving up on it yet.

skippitydoodah Not much news to record or report. Same feeding and nutrients schedule, same light schedule. Average height: 29.3 inches with a max of 33", then 31" and the runt is 24". I misted all the foliage this morning with the fans on full blast to see if any branches would sag or bend but they remained strong. Unsure, still, if that will be the case as the buds fatten up and get heavy. Too soon to tell. The two clones are looking a bit weak but I haven't completely given up on them yet. Be back in a week.

skippitydoodah Trimmed the two larger plants back and left the runt alone. Made my wife a salve with the dried, week 4 and 5 trimmings. I know now why CBD salves are so expensive. That took a long time and was a total mess. She likes it though so, happy wife - happy life. Not much else to document this week.

skippitydoodah This week was pretty easy. Didn't do much. This is it for the nutrients. I am sticking with straight spring water and flushing all three later this week and then again at their last feeding before harvest. I have noticed the soil is starting to smell pretty foul. The plants have started smelling delicious and strong this week though. It is almost harvest time. I am waiting at least a week after flushing to "chop" them. Rather than hang them upside down to dry, this time I am going to completely trim them and rack them to air dry on a screen. My last grow was hung too soon after flushing and then after curing the buds for six weeks (including frequent burping), they still smelt like an empty bottle of "Grow Big". I want to avoid that this time. Maybe drying them differently will avoid all of the locked-in nutes from flowing through the branches into the buds from hanging? Time will tell.

skippitydoodah This is the last week of the grow. Tomorrow they are each getting a gallon of spring water after flushing them all with tap water. That's their last feed. I will wait to defoliate and harvest until they start looking droopy and drying out. Which last grow, took about 5 days. OR ... I might harvest in four days only because I know how long it is going to take to clean them up before drying them and Sunday is my only free day with abundant spare time for the job.

This was a fun, easy grow. Already prepping to plant two more. Next time I will top at 4 weeks rather than five. I have never tried main-lining/manifolding but next grow with the same seeds I am going to try it.
