This plant was the first ever seed I've planted so over the past few weeks Iv'e messed with my space a fair bit, refining things I can do this time as I learn. I'm late to finding grow diaries, so I'm starting it at week 4. There's still a lot wrong with this grow honestly, much that I can't change until next grow, but I'll keep it all in mind and use all my experience with this plant for my next grow. I haven't messed with any LST or anything with this plant, I just want to take it from seed to harvest and gain experience from the full process, so the goal here was just to keep things simple and see how things go and to learn as much as I can! The past week to ten days, she's really stretched out, doubling in size easily. It looks like as this week ends she's moving into full flower as the bud sites seem to be expanding a bit now, though she still hasn't stopped vertical growth at all, so I'm not sure. She grew 9cm this past weekend. I think next week I'll stop feeding with the Maxicrop Liquid Seaweed and switch to Plant Magics Oldtimer Bloom at a low dosage and see how that goes. She's a fun one to grow, but has a few strange habits, like she droops fairly heavily every night, about 3-4 hours before lights off. It looks like she's wilting but then in the morning she is perky again. You can see how she is starting to do this in some of the photos, which I took right as she starts to sag. I've been reading that this is maybe due to light saturation and isn't a problem but I'm not sure. It does correlate with my observations.

Oldtimer Bloom - Plant Magic

Day 29 - She's slowing down her vertical growth a bit it seems now, which is good because my light can't go much higher and she's already a bit close for comfort. I gave her first feeding of Plant Magic Oldtimer Bloom, switching over from the liquid seaweed she got during veg and seemed to be okay with it, though I only used half the dose recommended. I've noticed the tips of the leaves turning a touch yellow, which makes me worry it might be nutrient burn, though it's literally less than 1mm on the tip of the longest finger of the fan leaves so far, so I'm thinking I'll stick to water for the rest of the week and then try half dose again after 2-3 more plain waters. Day 31 - I decided to prune off the yellowing lower leaves. They concern me a little bit as they lower leaves died off earlier than I was expecting, but it should be okay, the rest of the plant looks healthy enough. Day 33 - Looks like trichomes have started forming around a lot of the bud sites on the main cola, which is an exciting step I guess. Day 34 - I've been noticing that the leaves are getting lighter and lighter around the bottom and middle and looking it up, it seems it could possibly be an early sign of a Nitrogen deficiency. As a test, I've upped the nutrients per feed to full strength and hopefully that will nip it in the bud and give her a darker colour again, but we'll have to see. It's good though, if it works, I feel like I've learnt something valuable for future grows. Otherwise, she's still appearing healthy and thank god her vertical growth appears to have significantly slowed once she hit about 80cm tall.

I'm still waiting for this girl to slow down with her vertical growth! I wasn't planning on doing any LST or anything with this grow but I'm starting to think I'm going to have to do something to keep her from growing into the light, which is as high as it can get now. Something to figure out I guess. Otherwise, she's looking healthy, still a bit pale and no signs of any red colours coming out yet, but I'm hoping upping her nutrients will correct at least the lime green leaves. Sort of interesting week ahead! Day 38 - She's still growing in height, though thankfully now slowing down once she hit 90cm. Currently she's sitting about 93cm. I kinda feel like the buds are a bit sparse on the main cola, they look a bit thin, though there is a lot of flower sites. I'm kinda hoping they'll fatten up as they ripen over the next couple of weeks, but not too sure what to expect right now. Looking at other peoples diaries makes me think this is just how they grow, but not sure if she's stretching a bit and this is what people call "airy" bud. No idea. I've noticed a kind of bad smell coming from my water when using Oldtimer Bloom, so I think I'm going to swap over to Bio-Bizz from next week. I Haven't noticed a problem with the Oldtimer, I just don't like the smell, I may have got a bad bottle or something but it smells a bit rancid. I'm using Bio-Bizz soil with my next grow anyway, so I may as well try these organic nutes out. Day 40 - The tricks are really coming out now and all the buds are slowly starting to fatten with some orange pistils showing. I'm kinda bummed that she doesn't look like she'll be a purple pheno, but she has darker patches here and there. Pretty much on auto-pilot now though, today I fed her just plain water to give her a fresh start with Bio-Bizz nutes for her next watering, which will be the start of next weeks entries.

New week with this girl getting one step closer to harvest! I switched nutes this week from Oldtimer Bloom to Bio-Bizz Grow/Bloom. No reason really, I just didn't like the funky smell of the Oldtimer. Day 42 - When I was checking her out today, I noticed a tinge of yellowing on some of the leaves on the side branches. Does this look like Nutrient burn or Light stress? I don't think it can be light stress as the side branches are much shorter than the main stem, which is more or less okay, so I'm thinking its a nute burn? This might actually make sense, as I think I might have overdone her with the oldtimer last week, maybe she's just sensitive. I'll dial back to plain water for a few feeds I think and see how she responds. Day 47 - She can't support her own weight anymore, so I have to be really careful when I pick her up for watering etc. I'm using a spare hanging hook from my light like a little noose to hold her up straight in the grow space... Looking good though and it smells amazing, beautiful citrus and pine.

Day 49 is here and this plant is weirding me out... I'm really not sure whats going on with her bud, it kinda looks like a sativa plant, or maybe this is foxtailing, or maybe just genetics? Not sure. She did grow up way taller than I expected and so was quite close to the lights, so I wonder if it was stress or something. She is majorly sticky though and smells beautiful, full on pine and citrus, so I dunno if the buds looking like this will be just an aesthetic thing. Anyway, her trichs have turned completely milky now and the pistils are slowly darkening along with the leaves having a pretty dramatic shift in colour, so I think despite the buds looking weird, she's into the home stretch. I assume a couple more weeks left at minimum but we'll see.

Does anyone know what's going on with this bud? Foxtailing? Genetics? she's crazy sticky and smells great, but the buds just look weird. She's standing right next to an OG Kush and the plants are night and day, the Kush looking exactly as you'd expect.

Hey Mate, Looks like she's really stressed out. Any Data of your homemade LED? 10cm with 125W seem very close to me... Servus✌️ OimRausch

Week 9 begins and this plant is looking very sorry for herself lol. She can't hold her own weight up at all anymore, which is actually quite lucky because now she sits way below the light and hopefully that will help her to finish without suffering anymore heat and light stress. Her buds are still growing really weirdly, but definitely they're starting to fill out and fatten up now at least. Her colours are bonkers, the leaves are slowly turning a dark purple and red and the buds themselves are turning a deep purple. I figure that's the strain rather than me screwing up, but it looks mental. Day 57 - Still don't need to water her today. She's gone from drinking 2 litres a day to 2 litres per 3-4 days now. It's tricky because her leaves are yellowing and curling and dying off badly, but I can't feed her any nutrients really because she's just not taking on much water. I feel like I've basically just started an unofficial flush. I think she might end up getting chopped very soon, though checking trichs they're pretty much all milky, I think I can spy 1 or 2 amber here and there, but not many yet.

Just looking for some advice on harvesting really. Looking at the thrichs, I feel like harvesting now might be a bit early. I think she suffered badly from heat stress. if it were yours, would you cut your losses and move on? She's at about Day 64(ish) from seed.

Hello there scotch_egg, Yes you are correct, harvesting now would be too early. I would wait at least 10-15 more days before harvesting to get a bigger amber ratio. Good luck with your project, I wish you all the best! 👽

So this girl is all jarred up for a good cure now. The grow was quite difficult for my first ever and had a lot of problems. She grew way higher than I had planned for and I'm pretty sure it led to her suffering heat stress from the proximity of my LED for pretty much the life of the grow, which ended up in some pretty airy bud. That said, you live and learn right and everything I got from this grow I've already started implementing in my Kush and Lemon Pie grows already. I'm also fairly sure the ugly buds are purely aesthetic issues, as they stink beautifully and I have a pretty good feeling that they'll smoke just fine. Will report back on that one at a later date once they've had a few weeks in the jars.
