It's now the middle of week 6 and they are touching the first shelf!! Definitely happier with the way things are going now. My ph is still in the 6 range so I continue to play with it a little. Wondering what I'll have to change when they decide to flower which is pretty darn soon it looks like. Week 6 has started. Saturday I fed them again. both parts at 3.58ml per the BudLabs app. they have started to grow more and definitely have a scent up close. ph is staying right around 5.8 and I check it twice per day. Any suggestions or thoughts on these girls would be greatly appreciated. Will they start blooming before they get big enough?

Bought the Viparspectra 300W reflector. seemed like the best thing I could get for the money I was willing to spend at the moment. Question: what would cause my tent to stink? A gross stink...a stank lol. Roots aren't rotting, one plant is like shiny yet sick looking. Let me know what you think, when you get a chance.

Roots might not be slimy and brown yet but there could be pathogens in your res, I’d flush the tub

Boy I wish I would've done that since day 1. I will follow your advice tonight once I have replaced the water in the reservoir. I agree the ph is too high. Thank you!

Flipped through your previous weeks pictures and noticed your LED is a thin flat panel.....looks almost identical to the flat panel LED I tested out in my first diary. Mine was a Roleadro 45w flat panel and was not much good past seedling stage....

@BudLovinMom72, would highly recommend YaeTek LED Grow Light Panel Full Spectrum IR UV for Indoor Medical Plants (X4-800W) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01N77Y2KM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_rxEBkHrGY5HLH, pulls 200 from the wall, cheap and heavy in red specrum

BudLovinMom72
Do you recommend any LED in particular?
BudLovinMom72

I see that! I will look for something better.

I've only used the cheapest as well. I plan to switch to Advanced Nutrients PH perfect nutrients on my next grow so I won't have to worry about it. Maybe I'll get lucky and they won't mind the 6.4 level they're at now. I did raise my light as well. Did some reading on that recently.

I agree, it is very contradictory. In regards to the light, I'm only going based on what the kush grow kit says. According to them it is a Pro-grade 225 Blue/Red LED panel. I'll see how the girls adjust to the different distance.

@BudLovinMom72, There's a lot of contradictory info on the web about what distance the lights need to be, which is not made easier by some of the misleading claims made by LED manufactures. The light your using in the pics just doesn't look like a 250W. Take for example the VIPARSPECTRA 300W LED. Even though it is labeled at 300W its actual power draw is closer to 130W and even that needs a fan to keep it cool. As for the distance between plant and light, how the plants themselves are reacting to the light is the real guide to what they need. Are they growing very tall, with lots of space between nodes, trying to get at the light? Are they getting bleached by being to close? Burned by the heat? Keep a close eye on them and I'm sure it will work out.

It seems like a lot to get a hold on, but after a couple grows you'll get a routine down and start to notice these issues that arose from your own previous experiences. Coming to an indoor grow from guerilla growing (and adding nutrient schedules) was a Huge change for me, but I'm finally getting the hang of it and my PH readings. .....never had these issues growing along our old river band when I was a kid, lol.

I'm tempted to plant some in the woods at our cabin to see how it goes. Also afraid of critters getting in to eat it so I've been looking for a mini greenhouse to keep them somewhat protected or contemplating putting a wire fence around them. I should've done it earlier in the summer though because now our temps will start to drop in Fall.

Read up on PH ranges or invest in Advanced Nutrients PH perfect Grow, Micro & Bloom and some R/O water.

BudLovinMom72week 5
Darnit I wish I would've read this yesterday. So if you can read my week 5 paragraph, let me know if you think I should still hold off. Thank you for the ph advice and the light. Only reason I had it at 8 is because of the instructions from the kush grow kit. Also I do have a long airstone in there. The bubbles do break at the surface but I have the pots 1/4in deep into the water. Should I take water out? I dont want to give up on them yet. What will it take for them to be happy? Thank you for all your advice!

When are you planning on starting another grow? Currently have one of my own going (on GD) and already planning on what the next may be and consist of....1 Blueberry, 1 White Whidow or a FastBuds coacktail of 1 Gorilla Glue & 1 Pineapple Express.

It may be a long wait on that journal, the owner lost all account info and can't get it back..... I know this because that was going to be my new account (since I deleted this one, but can login still through the phone app LOL).

@BudLovinMom72, I guess my name would not be the same, lol. Anyhow, as I was suggesting, dip a shot glass down in your basin and test that ph. Add a little ph up or down, towards 5.8. Mix it up with a spoon or something (you can do this in the net pot if you pull out an empty one). Test again, ph a little up or down towards 5.8. If you don't get close to this number you will get nutrient lockout (bad). Test added water with nutrients, ph to 5.8 before you add it. Then test the water again. You really need a pen to test cause you will be doing it all the time. You will get the hang of it. Make sure you mix it the basin before you retest. I usually test, guesstimate needed up or down, add it, mix, come back in 15 or 30 min, retest. Also, you will see the number keeps dropping or climbing, just wait for a min or 2. Give it time.

@BeefWellingtons the 72 is just my lucky number. would you still be 68? Also, you previously had to me about Advanced Nutriets PH Perfect...is it easy to follow? I'm still having tons of ph issues that haven't been resolved. ☹

Gratz on your harvest! Feels good right? Now after a 'lessons learned' get some new seeds/clones into some grow medium asap! ;)
BudLovinMom72
BudLovinMom72
Thank you! I see you've got your new projects started. That medium variation should be interesting, I'm anxious to see. Will get going on the new seeds shortly!

I'd wait until almost all of the pistils have darkened and curled inwards towards the buds, also with autoflowers there's no need to switch your lighting at all. Looking forward to seeing how your next grow goes.
BudLovinMom72
BudLovinMom72
Same here. I hope I learned enough to do better lol. Thank you for the tips. Does the light change still affect them at all?

@BudLovinMom72 I looked up the feeding schedule for your nutrients. Each of those should be 4ml per gallon, and I wouldn't even go that high, more like 2 or 2.5ml each, per gallon of water in your basin. Second, make sure you water is up high, 1cm below net buckets, check it every day. Three, your TDs is very high, makes me think you have too much nutrients in that basin. Four, it looks like the leaves are wet in some pics. You should not foliar spray once they are flowering, that can cause moldy buds. Also, it can burn your leaves if the light is on the whole time (which looks like that is happening). You can top water a little, but no spray. Also, and I can't stress this enough, try to get ph to 5.8. You can salvage these if you get the basin under control. Good luck!

No idea why the Bud Labs ap was telling me different amounts but I looked on the website and found the same thing as you. Now I know for my next grow at least.

The kit you bought was only good for the knowlege you gained participating in this grow, you can see flat out your autoflower are starting to hear up for flowering really soon. You may see some growth still, but all in all....it may only be about an 1/8 to a 1/4 total between those 3 plants. Save up a lil bit of cash and get yourself at least a 300 watt LED, Viparspectra and Growstar are decent brands for LED, but if you can afford it check out Advanced Platinum LED (the P450 to be exact). Glad to see you got some PH Perfect nutrients; Great for hydroponics keeps you resevour in check for 4-6 days worry free.
BudLovinMom72
BudLovinMom72
I agree. Thankfully, the experience and motivation gained was worth the money of the kit. I will be checking out some LEDS in the near future. Thank you for the recommendations!

First grow out of the way, time to use the knowledge you gained for your next grow. One thing I must stress is the importance of the missing cal-mag, growing with an LED it seems to be more in demand throughout the grow.

BeefWellingtonsweek 12
What does the manual for the light say about optimum distance from the top of the canopy? I just haven't seen many led grows at 12 inches. I'm thinking they might be getting cooked at that distance and that moving it up another 6 inches would be better at 18 inches. Now I may be wrong, but from most of my research 18-24 inches is optimal for most led grow lights. Also, if next time you take pictures, use your flash so we can see the true colors cause led color is hard to tell what the plant really looks like.
BeefWellingtons
BeefWellingtonsweek 10
Sorry, one more thing, I would start with dumping out all the basin, fill with nothing but ph 5.8 water for 24 hours, then remove a gallon of water and replace with 1 gallon of water with nutrients for whole basin at 1/2 strength. Mix it up, wait 30 min, then retest ph and adjust gently. So when you put your ph pen in there, wait for like 3 min for it to crawl down, then use that number.

I suggest you get some hydroguard asap, add to basin. Also clean out all plant material from basin cause it will rot. Should try to bring down temp in basin as well.

The sickly one just looks like the runt to me. Hopefully the new environment and light came in time to help those lil buds bulk up!
