I'm finally starting my first indoor grow. My first grow, Auto Mazar by Dutch Passion, was outdoors and it turned out pretty good yield wise for my first grow. Now it's time for indoor growing.
I decided to choose RQS' Fat Banana & Green Gelato, both autoflowering. I'm excited to see if those Strains live up to their names, as I rarely have the chance to smoke "American" or "Cali" strains.
Both seeds germinated successfully and I will put them in to soil tomorrow, if the taproots are big enough. I will put them in pre-soaked BioBizz Light-Mix.
The plants are starting to get more leaves as the days come by. Soon, I will start to perform LST.
I'm excited what the coming weeks will bring and hopefully they continue to grow without major issues.
Stupid me failed at LST with the poor Fat Banana plant. She snapped in half and, unfortunately, she did not make it after taping her up.
Green Gelato is carrying on and there are no big problems with her. LST was successful and she grows good.
The plant has a wired discoloration, but I doubt that this is a deficiency. I think it's some kind of mutation because she has this discoloration since germination.
Also, two small holes appeared. Maybe some kind of bug. I have neem oil here, I just need to wait until the spray bottles arrive.
She grew extremely bushy this week so I decided to defoliate her biggest fan leaves, which were blocking the light anyway.
I adjusted her LST earlier this week too.
Finally, I decided to try topping for the first time and she seems to respond well to that.
She's growing really bushy again. I did no training or defoliation this week as I expect her to transfer in to flower pretty soon.
Something has taken bites out of the bigger fan leaves but I used Neem-Oil for two weeks and it seems to work.
I gave her a little Bio-Bloom so she has no deficiency when she starts to flower.
As soon as she is in full on flower, I will defoliate her again a little bit for better light penetration.
She starts to smell just a little bit but it's pretty noticeable.
I hope that she will transition to flower soon.
So far it's seven weeks with my first indoor setup and I am happy so far. The wardrobe pretty quiet and it blends in well with my other furniture and, so far, it's smell proof when the doors are closed.
Flowering finally started, pistils are starting to shoot out. Luckily, there are no signs of herming.
I reduced the Bio-Grow feed and increased the Bio-Bloom feed. She had a CalMg deficiency too, so I increased her CalMg feed.
The plant's smell is already pretty noticeable, although she is in early flowering. The smell hits as soon as you open the wardrobe.
Can't wait to smoke her 🥝
So it's her second week of flower and she's doing good so far.
I defoliated her and the plant handled it well. I removed her damaged fan leaves and those which were older & blocking light.
The lower sites grew really bushy after defoliation and I think I will have to defoliate her again rather sooner than later.
Currently she seems to suffer from a slight phosphorus deficiency, but it's not worrisome yet. I will fix this as soon as the plant demands her next watering, in ~1-2 days, so it will be fixed quickly.
Earlier this week, I was finally able to fix the phosphorus deficiency. The plant's bud formation really took off. Bud sites are popping up like crazy and because of that, I will have to defoliate her every week so the lower, promising growth gets enough light.
I defoliated her twice this week I removed her lowest bud sites, which would have produced nasty ass underdeveloped buds.
I adjusted her nutrients, she wanted more P and she had a really slight N tox for 2 days so I adjusted accordingly. Also, I gave her a small dose of Top-Max because why not. :)
Also I noticed that with more Bio-Bloom, I had to adjust ph more aggressively.
Her runoff ph was 6.5.
I'm optimistic to harvest her by the end of next month if everything turns out correctly. :)
Her flower growth increased noticeably this week and her flowering stretch seems to have stopped. It seems like she is finally using her energy to increase bud growth.
The plant's smell is getting stronger as each day passes. Her smell can be described as sweet & fruity as of now.
I will give her a final defoliation next week. Her bigger fan leaves should die off naturally in a few weeks anyway.
She, again, developed a Phosphorus deficiency... 🤬
It just started to show like 1-2 days ago and I have to bump up her Bio-Bloom feeding again.
Also somehow, a few of her pistils started darkening.
Her flowering speed is pretty slow imo and it's a little bit frustrating to see after the speed she had in veg.
I hope after I corrected her feeding that she will pack on speed.
Aside from that I defoliated her and as usual, she responded well to that. Given her age, I think that she will not produce many fan leaves anymore, so that was her final defoliation.
This week, she really started to increase her bud size. Her pistils are starting to getting brown as well.
Some of the leaves are starting to get purple. I thought at first that it was another phosphorus deficiency, but it's not the kind brownish purple patches you get with a phosphorus deficiency.
I defoliated & lollipopped her a little bit as well.
She has a really sweet smell, but it's not as fruity if you smell from a distance. The closer you come, the fruiter the smell is. The carbon filter is holding up. :)
She had phosphorus deficiencies last week. I didn't know why because I was using Bio-Bloom & Top-Max at full strength.
Now I think she had a phosphorus lockout caused by too much CalMag. From now on she will only receive CalMag when she really needs it.
She bounced back and she looks better now. :)
Some of her leaves are damaged now but I will leave them as she approaches harvest. Or maybe I will take them off next week idk. 🤷♂️🏽
The plant stinks pretty heavily and her smell fills the room after 5 minutes. Her smell is fruity and "fresh". When you touch her and smell your fingers, she smells like fruity candy. Just incredible!
Her nugs are already pretty dense. No signs of mold. She is pretty frosty already and it's getting crazier everyday! The pictures do not capture how insane it is. Her calyxes are full of trichomes! 🎅🏽
The trichomes are getting cloudy really fast, even the lower buds. If she continues to ripen that fast, I think I can chop her in 1-2 weeks. (Best case would be chopped & dried by Super Bowl Sunday 🤩 ... please :'))
She will be harvested soon. It was a great grow and I think that I'm ready to get the most out of my grow space in the next grow.
She's getting close. The buds are looking great. Can't wait to taste them! ^_^
My first indoor grow is finally over. It was easier than expected and I love the ability to control the environment in the grow space. I had no issues with mold.
The strain was easy to grow at the beginning with fast and vigorous growth. She was great to train. But after the plant started to flower, she got really sensitive with nutes. She had phosphorus deficiencies which slowed her flowering, even as I significantly reduced on CalMag & Bloom nutes.
So it was hard for me to figure out the perfect amount for her.
Some of her buds are really tight, but her lower buds, especially those on the center colas were somewhat larfy. (Those spots didn't receive much light.)
Her high is energetic & she smells a lil bit like a lemon gummy as of now. I will do an update after a little cure.
(Update: She developed a strong lemony-type stench with fruity undertones. She starts with a head high and descends into a body stone.)
On my next grow, I will try to spread the plant's canopy out so more light reaches the lower buds. Maybe I will try something like mainlining.
See you soon! :)
