SOoo. The last two plants I grew nearly died in the final weeks of flower. Nothing I did seemed to change their condition. The plant stopped developing and the leaves just wouldn't stop turning yellow. So I ended up harvesting them and getting what I could out of the crop. It was a pretty big disappointment for me. It wasn't until I pulled the root ball that I discovered what the problem was. Both plants were root bound. The sides of the pot where solid white with roots. So, lesson learned. This time around I bought some fabric smart pots. After a little research, I read about how these are supposed to stop plants from getting root bound. So, I'll give it a shot. My wife and I are both cannabis snobs. She likes an uppity sativa while I like my knockout indicas. I don't really smoke socially. I use indicas to help me sleep. The wife is a day time smoker to help curb her anxiety and help her come out in social situations. I was recommended northern lights by a friend and she picked out King Tut fro some Leafly reviews. Let's try to not fuck this one up! lol

A fungus attacked my Northern Lights seedling and killed it. I had to germinate a second seed. This one is about a week behind the King Tut. I transplanted these girls into their fabric pots where they will remain for the rest of the grow. They are sitting in a 50/50 mix of Fox Farms and Happy Frog soilless.

The King Tut is doing well. She is on the 4th or fifth node. I will probably top the plant in the next week or two and start traing the canopy. The Northern Lights is a week behind. So I will have to wait for her to grow a little more before I start training her. Other than that, not much to report. Just waiting for them to grow up. I'm taking a less is more approach this time. I am only giving them a small amount of nutes and will increase if I see any signs of deficiency. The last few grow I keep getting sick plants so I may be overdoing it on the nutes. So far, good results, plants look happy and they seem to be growing at a reasonable pace. I think once the leaves reach edge of the pot, I will increase their nutrient regime a bit and see what happens. At the same time I will begin inoculating the soil with RAW grow microbes.

Both plants have been topped over the last week as they reach over the pots rim. Both are at 6 nodes with 12 side branches growing that will be trained into tops over the coming weeks. I upped their nutrient intake to match the agro growth for General Hydroponics. They seem happy and look healthy so onward and upward.

A lot of growth over the last week. The girls are filling out nicely. Still no sign of maturity yet. That's okay. Still another month before they get flipped to flower. The NL is getting a little nitrogen toxic so I backed off on her feeding regime. I will put the nutes back in her feedings when I see her leaves have stopped curling. Other than the minor toxicity, all is well.

The plants have reached a stage where they have enough foliage and growth on them to begin training and defoliation. I cut most of the side growth and major fan leaves off. Using safety pins and twine, I started their LST.

Not a lot going on. The canopies are coming along nicely. They both have a good flat top and we are almost ready to switch to flower. I think I might give them another week or two. The King Tut has fallen behind a little because the main stalk split when I was training her and She has been spending a lot of energy mending.

I made the switch to 12/12 last week and they have started to stretch. The King Tut seems to have slowed down on vertical growth yet has excelled at growing a lot of side branches and fan leaves. The Northern Lights is starting to take over the tent. Her canopy now occupies half of my tent space and she is at least 6 inches taller than the King Tut. Good growth and color all around so no worries yet. On to the next week!

Another good week of growth. The Northern Lights has stretched nearly 6 inches in the last week. However, the King Tut has barely broken 3 inches of growth. The King Tut does have more bud sites than the Northern Lights from what I can tell. I have been fighting the King Tut with training the canopy. This plant grows a ton of leaves and doesn't get very tall. I had never grown this strain before. If I were to make any recommendations for other growers about this strain, I would say not to bother with LST. I would either just let it grow all natural or maybe use the SCRoG method. Very leafy plant. Difficult to keep trimmed enough to reach lower limbs.

Another great week of growth. The stretch has seemed to have stopped and the buds are really starting to develop on these girls. I have switched the nutrients over to full flower. The soil is being inoculated with NPK's RAW Flowering Microbes and I added a full dose of the liquid Koolbloom to the feeding. Both plants have started to produce Trichomes and have started to get a little frosty. The King Tut has a lot of foliage. I have been removing one or two leaves a day from the canopy to try and open some space for light to reach the lower limbs. That way I don't stress the plant. In about a week they will be on auto mode without me plucking at them for the remaining 5 or 6 weeks of flower.

Things are going well. We are now in the 4th week of flower, 5 weeks since I made the light switch to 12/12. Both plants are filling out like crazy. Their smell is very sweet. Not like cannabis at all. More of a lavender and citrus combination coming from my tent right now. If you get in real close and take a wiff of one of the colas, it turns to a real musky smell. I haven't changed much in their feeding regime. I did up the KoolBloom dosage by 1ml and I only feed them every other watering. So far I am pleased with the plants growth so I'll stick to this routine for now.

Another week and I think I have reached the max amount of nutes that I can feed these girls. I have noticed a little burning on the tips. I will probably back off on the bloom nutes for the next week. They seem to be filling out. Hopefully I will see some more girth in the next few weeks.

So, we are passing week 7 from the flip to 12/12. I haven't seen any amber trichomes yet so I am going to keep feeding. Once I start to see amber, I will cut the nutrients out and feed only water. Hopefully, These girls will be ready to harvest in 2 to 3 weeks. I'm getting anxious to try this Northern Lights. I have never had this strain before and am really looking forward to it. I love my bed time high and I hear this strain is perfect for a night cap.

Looks like these girls are almost ready to harvest. They have a fair amount of amber trichomes and the hairs are mostly brown. They have swelled a bunch over the last week and look super frosty. I think I am going to harvest next week. I think one of the buds had a couple of nanners on it. I cut them off, but will keep an eye on it until I harvest.

On the picture that says "nanners" does it look like there are male pistols growing, or are they some other kind of growth?

Definitley nanas in pic 3, it’s too late now the buds surrounding it will start to pollinate imisiatley. I wouldn’t wait and take any buds that are already showing banananana! You cannot cut them off they are not a pollen sac like the male flower it’s purley the male organ inside a female organ supplying hormones that fertilise the surrounding bud. Good luck man

I have no complaints about this strain. It grew like crazy and produced nice flowers with a ton of trichomes. Her node spacing was perfect and the amount of flower to leaf was low so she was very easy to harvest.

Very difficult for me to grow. So much foliage. This plant bushes out like crazy. She was also a real pain in the ass to harvest. You should strip her of every god damn leaf except for the top nodes right before flower or she will fill out to the point of cover up all the bud. I had to throw out a bunch of under developed flower because it was so bushy..
