Light yellowing of bottom leaf.. probably going to switch back to Flora series main 3.. been trying MaxiGro. More familiar with flora series, and experiencing a few negative signs in other plants in same container.
Looks great tho! Excited for this to grow in the weeks to come!
Had a little issue the beginning of this week.. air pump and air stones were pumping so hard it was hurting the fragile roots as they were in early development.
Turned pump down and reduced to two air stones instead of four.
All seems well at this point.
Debating whether to top this girl or not!
11/27
So I FIMed this in the middle of last week and she’s recovered real well and growing full strength again.
Massive fan leaves going already
Did some very mild defoliation on the lowest growth steams new “shoots” or stem growth to keep air flow going good and limit popcorn buds later on
11/30 mid week update- moved to flower room 11/28. Today I realized the FIMing didn’t stop upward growth, I musta clipped it a little too high.
Anyways I just topped it today on that new growth so it will stop upward growth.
This past week I transferred her to the flower tent.. just days after FIMing
Put in a new DWC set up with much deeper root growth available, my other DWC totes are quite shallow
FIMing recovery going well, bounced back within a day or so of the procedure.
This week had a ton of growth.. I think the mix of the end of aggressive veg growth turning into flower stretching.
It’s been flipped to flower somewhere around 10 days and showed pistils just after a week I feel like.
Temp and RH for the week in last photo
December 18
Week 3 beginning for the Blue dream in my DWC set up.
She’s finally starting to show bud sites by packing on pistils.
There’s about 12 stems that should turn into main colas so to speak.
This plant was FIMmed in veg cycle.
She’s stretching quite a bit but nothing like if it hadn’t been FIMmed early on, so it’s under control.
Can’t wait to see some actual buds formed on this one!
Adding Fox Farms Tiger Bloom and Big Bloom as a supplemental organic type nutrients rather than relying strictly on the GH non organic line.
December 20 pic update- buds forming more
December 23rd - major defoliation day for week 3 of flower. Pics uploaded
Blue Dream week 8 -
December 29th
I was away from home for just a few days and this plant has definitely packed on size on bud sites.
I am getting a little concerned that there are too many branches/colas, hopefully it won’t be too dense when the flowers really start to put on weight.
The major defoliation that I did last week seems to have caused no negative issues, she seems to be thriving now. After taking a large majority of the fan leaves off last week, The smaller growth leaves around the bud sites have grown in size substantially to make up for the fan leaves removed.
I usually do some type of a similar defoliation plan on most of my plants, but this time I am following a tutorial I found, you can Google it if you look up “nebulas flowering stage defoliation tutorial”
The past couple weeks I have incorporated Fox Farm bloom nutrients to supplement the GH regimen I was using. So a majority of the nutrients come from the General hydroponics maxi bloom powder. But I wanted to add some more natural sources of nutrients which are found in the two Fox farm bloom nutrients. I’m not running them even close to the recommended dosage on the Foxfarm bottles, probably more like 1/2 to 1/3 strength.
The last couple photos you can see some major praying going on with the leaves, which I’ve always interpreted as a good sign. I’ve just never seen them so upright like they do on this plant.
I have two other blue dream plants going in the same tent, which I have a diary of also. Those are just a week or so younger than this plant, it’s crazy to see the difference in the deep water culture version.
Thanks for checking my diary out!
All right folks-
This blue dream is still growing steady real happy with it every night the leaves are praying up towards the light.
I did just replace a 100 W quantum board light it was directly above it with a new one I got off Amazon from “enjoyield”. This one runs out I think 230 W and has UV and IR diodes. It’s honestly hard to compare these sound like spectrum lights but this one definitely is bright as hell and I specifically went for it because it has the UV and IR diodes. It only has a couple of them and who knows of an actually contribute so much to flower but I am convinced that UV is very important in flowering and I’ve noticed hardly any of the quantum board lights have any UV..
The smell from touching one of these buds lightly is just amazing, part of this plants parent/ lineage is the strain blueberry - and it smells just like blueberries. Way more so than the blueberry autoflower I grew last go round. I’m pretty much done with autos for a variety of reasons - terpenes and flavor being one of them.
Oh man this plant is looking like it’s gonna turn out to be one of my favorites. It’s starting to show the blue hues at the tip of the buds so I’m very excited about that. It’s also got a nice dense large buds. Smell is absolutely wonderful, it’s a real nice fruity blueberry scent.
I did have one or two smaller than a pea size mildew spots developed last week, and I went ahead and sprayed all the plants in the tent with this “growsafe”fungicide and pesticide. It’s an all natural product and OMRI listed. It contains corn oil and soy bean oil at 15% each as the main ingredients, then some inert ingredients like sunflower oil, almond oil, coconut oil. It’s worked pretty well For me to stop powdery mildew from progressing anytime it has popped up. It seems like it basically puts like a protective coating on the leaves to stop growth of mildew. Are usually use it as a preventative measure during the veg state, but I try to avoid spraying it on more developed flowers if I can.
Thanks for checking out the diary!
So the blue dream plants are coming right along, nothing really to update this week except that they are in great shape and the buds are certainly starting to thicken up!
Also we’re starting to see even more saturation of the blue colors on some of the buds.. mostly the bigger ones that’s are closer up towards the light.
I’m thinking we’ll be harvesting in maybe two-three weeks?
Thanks for checking out the diary!
Everything going well with this plant.
Don’t have a ton of time to go into detail this week, likely gonna harvest in a week.
These buds are getting so damn heavy they’re falling over
Great day time smoke.. breeder breakdown is 70/30 sativa dominant. Very clear headed smoke for me, which is important for me.. not gonna dumb down my mental state. Subtle body sensation, non drowsy, non sedative.
Creative sometimes for me personally.
This was such a pleasure to grow, I’m glad I did it in hydro cuz it yielded a nice harvest of 5 oz. really glad I tried the strain I usually gravitate towards Indica varieties but I really love this sativa dominant strain.
Probably one of my all-time favorites that’s far growing and smoking.
@Warhead, this has been one of my favorite strains to grow without a doubt! I’d definitely recommend it. Terpenes are out of this world. Hope it smokes just as awesome as it has been to grow..
Love watching the progress. I am a few weeks behind you with a similar set up and the same seed from ILGM. Looking at your pics is like looking into the future! 😎
@waitasecond, glad to hear! This one has been such a pleasure to grow honestly.. and it’s nice seeing some blues coming thru in the buds! Good luck with your girls!
Also growing blue dreams so a total pleasure to read your detailed diary. Great shape and green to your plants. I really struggle with nutrients and a mistake on plastic pots this grow. Anyway ENJOY!
@Superjd, thanks ! I sure appreciate it, you’ll learn and get better with each day. I used plastic pots on one of my first grows and ended up carefully drilling holes in the sides to help the roots get more oxygen. Good luck tho!
Man idk how you cut them up like that but teach me haha. Really though could I or to what degree should I apply this to my grows? Is the direct light to the buds that important or can there be any fan leaves? Would this affect the amount of sugar leaf there will be? Sorry I'm just loving this journal haha
@FlynnRyder, haha thanks for the love! So first off, this extensive defoliation is somewhat of a first for me.. I went in heavy on this one but after doing some reading I wanted to experiment with it. So the idea I’m following is basically stripping the first branch or two of new growth on each main branch during the end of veg along with some of the massive fan leaves.. then in the third week of flower you basically pull all the fan leaves that have some visible stem.. damn near all of them. It’s supposed to be a number of factors that cause the bud growth to increase- including increased light availability, less energy spent on growing fan leaves, etc.
I would always apply some defoliation to grows especially in hydro set ups. The growth is just so intense that I’ve always had to defoliate to some extent.
It helps lower humidity which I always battle in flowering
The actual buds aren’t benefiting directly from that light but any of the leaves that surround the bud site are..
Google “nebula’s flowering stage defoliation”
That’s basically what I’m trying this go round.
I’ll have pics up tomorrow when I get back home from a vacation, I’m excited to see how she’s doing!
@Hemp4humanity, yes this is the one I was talking about that looks more indica.. i have noticed that growing in DWC tends to bring out bigger fan leaves in its growth
