Mimosa EVO - Biotabs - Autopot 8.5Lt

nob0dies The seedlings were transplanted into the Autopot (8 Autopot 8.5L) on 11/23. Unfortunately, due to logistical issues, they spent two weeks, from germination, in a small pot with coconut fiber, so logically after the first week they experienced a slight nutrient deficiency. The pots have an airdome at the bottom (8 in total connected to a 1200l/h air pump), a layer of two cm of expanded clay, and a mix of 50% Canna professional plus coconut fiber and 50% Plagron perlite. Everything was supplemented with 400g of startrex Bio tabs. Each transplant hole was sprinkled at the base with 5 teaspoons of Mycotrex and then the seedling was added, which already had a good root system; it should be noted that the Canna coconut fiber is already amended with mycorrhizae. After that, everything was watered with one liter of osmosis water for each pot, with the addition of one teaspoon of Bactrex and 5ml of Orgatrex. The Autopot system is still closed and will remain so for a week, to allow the roots to develop well towards the bottom of the pot. The Airdomes are off and will also be activated in a week. As a final consideration, I must say that the seedlings seem slightly behind, evidently due to the lack of nutrients, but I trust that soon they will start off in great health. Unfortunately, growdiaries does not allow for perfect input of doses in the case of solid products, so for greater clarity, I will list all the data of the products used to prepare the soil: Canna Professional Coconut Fiber: 34lt Plagron Perlite: 34lt Bio Tabs Startrex: 400g Bio Tabs Mycotrex: 40g Solution for the first watering: Bio Tabs Orgatrex: 5ml/l Bio Tabs Bactrex: 1g/l

nob0dies Yesterday I started the tank and finally the seedlings got their first water (osmotic). So far everything seems to be going well, now we'll see how these Bio Tabs work. The lights are running at about 70% and for now the temperature is under control; it had given me some trouble in the past few days since everything is in a closed environment. I made a slight adjustment to the box by venting the hot air into another area, and it seems to be working better. See you next week.

nob0dies Third week of vegetative, the plants are visibly doing well and in shape. Everything in the system is working correctly, autopot, extraction, airdome all seem to be working at their best. Now that the seedlings are a bit more structured, I wanted to give a spray of Boom Boom spray, they seem to have tolerated it well, although last night I noticed a slight clawing of the leaves on almost all of them, but since there have never been any overwatering issues these days, I assume it was indeed the effect of the Boom Boom spray. Tonight I will check if that was actually the case as they are showing some signs of excess water. Each pot receives 150 liters of air per hour, so there shouldn't really be a problem with root suffocation. See you next week ;)

nob0dies Hello everyone. It's week 5 of vegetative growth, the plants are growing but still facing some issues with overwatering and now also too much light. Regarding the excess water, I've turned off the system to let the substrate dry a bit; evidently with coco, the autopots are too much and the aerator isn't enough. As for the light, I've noticed some small burns on the leaves even though the temperature is always around 25 degrees. I'll try raising the lights a bit and see if the situation improves. Update: I've been growing for 30 years and as I suspected, the plants are experiencing a magnesium deficiency. What initially seemed like a minor heat issue, although very strange, actually turned out to be a deficiency. Now I'm wondering, Biotabs says their product can be used on both soil and coco, but it's known that coco consumes iron and magnesium, so how could it be the same for both types of substrate? Now that the problem is here, I'm trying to solve it with orgatrex and the addition of siliciumflash. I hope to resolve it. They should clarify if siliciumflash becomes mandatory in coco or if instead of just two waterings with orgatrex in coco, it should be done every two weeks; it all seems a bit unprofessional. I wrote an email to Biotabs and we'll see if they respond, but anyway, next time it will just be soil.

nob0dies I still have to add some photos from yesterday and I’ll put them up soon. These are photos from a few days ago and as I already mentioned, the magnesium deficiency is very evident. Honestly, I can’t explain it; a nearly identical grow from a friend doesn’t have the problem, the only difference is the use of osmotic water that I do. This week I’ve gone back to using regular tap water; evidently, that little bit of magnesium present in the water would have been enough to prevent all this distress in the plant. I’ve still intervened by adding 25g per pot of Siliciumflash, making a small hole next to the plant's stem and then I watered with a solution of 20ml Orgatrex per half a liter of water and 5 grams of Bactrex. Let’s hope that the sudden and continuous drop in magnesium stops. I’ll update you soon on how the situation evolves. Damn coco :)

nob0dies Busy week, so zero updates. I can only confirm the ongoing magnesium deficiency, despite the siliciumflash.

nob0dies The plants are growing, the deficiency remains but not for all. Honestly, I can't quite understand where it comes from anyway, let's see if we can bring everything to the end. Surely the next cycle will be in soil 12/12 and always with biotabs, it's nice not to give nutrients and water, automation as long as we can! :)

nob0dies The plants are doing well, and so are the flowers. The plants have been cleaned up at the bottom, old leaves removed, and some passages opened for air. Keep in mind that there are 8 plants in a 120x60 with autopot, so the space is quite small. Let's say it was designed for a 12/12 from seed, but I wanted to try the classic 4 weeks of vegetative. Anyway, I'm managing them pretty well; I moved from a 90x90cm grow box that's 100cm tall, and after years of LST, I wanted to do a normal cycle. There’s still a magnesium deficiency, but I don't care anymore and I'm going all the way to the end. Let's see how much we can pull out. I've also increased the aeration; the humidity is starting to be noticeable. Happy New Year to everyone and see you soon!

nob0dies The flowering continues, the magnesium deficiency is now chronic, but we'll keep going until the end. There are still 5 weeks left, the smell is good, and the resin on some plants is already starting to be abundant. I have to say that so far only two plants seem to have the mimosa colors, but with time, maybe the others will color up too. Have a great day everyone and happy growing!

nob0dies Everything is going well, despite the same issues as the past weeks. Anyway, the flowering is progressing and it doesn't seem bad. Only one plant has the typical coloration of mimosa, at least according to Barney's photos, but there's still a little while to go and you never know. A pruning was done on the entire lower part of the plants, removing leaves and flowers, and on the upper part, leaves were only removed to bring all the flowers to light. Have a great week ;)

nob0dies Finally, all the plants are starting to color up, and the mysterious magnesium deficiency has been revealed. My thermometer was broken, and at night the temperature unfortunately drops to 10 degrees, which has blocked magnesium uptake. Anyway, we'll make it to the end and bring the result home. Of course, it would have been better not to have this deficiency for normal plant development, but, as we know, things never go exactly as we wish ;) Have a good week.

nob0dies A long flowering period, the plants seem almost ready. Even though Barney gives a 10-week flowering time, we wait with confidence! I turned off the root aeration; I wouldn't want the air pump to be too powerful and consequently cool the roots too much, causing chronic magnesium deficiency. nob0dies We're moving forward! Just two weeks left and we're there!! It feels like they've been ready for a while, but you know how plants bulk up in the last two weeks, and I'm not making the mistake of taking them down early! Patience is the farmer's virtue!

nob0dies Last week, water already spent. I'm not satisfied at all, as was predictable, the magnesium deficiency due to too low temperatures caused poor flower development. I'm still happy to have brought everything to the end and I'm already ready for the next grow, of course after making some changes. I definitely need to change the box, for space and practicality in movement, I've already solved the temperature issue, also because I managed to find a quiet air pump so now I can turn on the lights at night. Anyway, we'll see each other again for the harvest report, even though it doesn't look good and then after setting up the new setup we'll head out for new adventures...... Icecream, I'm coming!
