Germinated a bunch of seeds in a glass of water then planted them directly into rapid rooter plugs and they are off to the races! Vigorous seed sprouts!
Beyond excited to begin this project:
ABC x CD91’ F3:
1. My plan is to use this original seed stock to make an F2 population.
2. Hunt for a few male+female in F2 that demonstrate ABC structure.
3. Use those parents to create an F3 population which would hopefully be a majority ABC structure expression.
Goals: preservation, creating a stable ABC expression in seed form, GAS. Working name: 91ABC
If you are wondering why all these steps, it’s on recommendation from the breeder to get the recessive ABC structure trait to show and stabilize so that is what we are going to try! I want some gassy, funky, ABC in seed form and whether I’m successful or not, I’ll document it on here and show you how to make your own seeds in a controlled manner. Be good out there! 🤙
Grow Specs:
Breeder: CSI Humboldt (@csi_humboldt)
Strain: Chemdog 91’ x ABC (Australian Bastard Cannabis)
Container: 4” nursery pots
Medium: Roots Organic 707 Formula
Plan Part 1:
-Select strongest male and females from the F1 population and breed together.
Updates/Observations:
-Normal leaf stress in new seeds
-A few runts and odd balls but normal seed germination percentages
-Gave them some Recharge for their first watering since transplant and they are doing great!
-This will be a fast run to make seeds so they will be getting transplanted to 1 gals in a few weeks and right into flower!

Updates/Observations:
-91ABC #6 is unable to hold itself up. I can’t tell if it is because I botched the seed placement or it is weak. I’ll
hold it until I know I got a female at least.
-Everyone is responding well to light Recharges once per week.
-I can tell these are going to want to be transplanted soon.
-Plenty of green, healthy growth.
-I’ll probably look to up pot these to 1 gals in the next week or so and then flip to flower a few days later.

Plan Part 1:

Updates/Observations:
-Flipped the plants to flower last week. Quick run!
-The plants wanted a higher RH so I’ve adjusted that up a bit.
-Looking like it may be 2-3 females out of the bunch and the rest males.
-Just letting them do their thing for the most part with light feedings.

Breeder: CSI Humboldt (@csi_humboldt)
Strain: Chemdog 91’ x ABC (Australian Bastard Cannabis)
Container: 1 Gallon Fabric Pot
Medium: Roots Organic 707 Formula
Plan Part 1:
-Select strongest males and females from the F1 population and breed together.
Updates/Observations:
-Down to the final four!
-Two confirmed males
-One confirmed female
-One still hasn’t shown!
-I’ll try to keep both of the remaining males to mix the pollen up before pollinating the female to keep some genetic diversity in the mix.
-Most of the plants are demonstrating strong apical dominance.
-Many of the males that have been culled already have been too stretchy for my tastes.
-All of the plants demonstrate a deeply serrated leaf for lack of a better term. Very pretty leaves.

Plan Part 1:
-Select strongest males and females from the F1 population and breed together.
Updates/Observations:
-So much has happened! I had to cull the other male for plant counts and then I discovered intersex traits in my only remaining male so that was culled as well.
-The male demonstrated intersex traits around day 15F
-Unfortunately, this means that I won’t be able to complete part 1 of the plan this round but that is on me.
-Hard lesson to learn twice back to back like this (Vortex male) but in Organics and life, one is none, two is one. If I want to get serious about this then I need to accept that and run fewer cultivars so I can keep more males.
-I don’t believe there were any light leaks or anything like that but the Chems are known for some instability. Couple that with landrace and it makes some sense that I’ll need to sift them out of the first few generations then all should be well.
-I kept the stretchy female in flower so this journal will focus on her from here out.
-She is very stretchy and I’m pretty sure I’ll need to support her branches by the end of this.

Unfortunately, I had to scuttle this project because too many of the plants demonstrated intersex traits.
I was able to salvage one female out of the group who displayed no intersex traits even after being removed from the flower room and placed back in the veg room after about 3 weeks of flower. I took cuts of that girl, rooted them, and now plan to attempt to reverse it, self it, and continue the project as an XX (female) project.
I hope to be able to share more about the new project in the future! Have a good one folks!
