Apr 29 - although she barely had any amber I figured day 68F/week 23 was long enough. I cut individual branches and did a wash with lemon juice/baking soda. there didn't see to be much debris floating around but I think it did improve the overall look of the bud, more shiny. it definitely made them more sticky. whether it improves the flavor/quality idk but I think ill be washing from now on.
I flushed for approx. 1.5 weeks even though I said I wasn't going to. I didn't do the 24 hour darkness.
I'm concerned that my humidity in the tent is too low and will drying will be too quick. Ill monitor closely. I do have a humidifier if needed but I'd rather not unless absolutely necessary.
1425g wet weight but that includes big ass branches. I'll update proper weight after drying/cure.
looking back, she grew amazingly. with all the toppings I did, the bending, the late scrog AND defoliation, she pulled through. no signs of any herm thankfully.
23 weeks could have been cut significantly by less toppings, or maybe not waiting for 4th node toppings. it's only my 2nd grow and I really wanted to mainline 16 colas so she's a big success in my book regardless of how long she took. I also added a few weeks by making the scrog mistake, doh.
BIG thanks to everyone watching, likes and comments!
may 1 - I turned off my exhaust fan for an hour and to my surprise the humidity measures 71%. I never realized it had such an impact. I turned it back in as it's been consistently 51% 21C the last couple days for drying.
may 4/5 - very dry so it's all trimmed and curing. took only 4 days to completely dry at 20C 54%. not sure how to extend the drying process. 13 x 500ml jars total, 3 of them are flower trimmings.
May 8 - humidity in jars seems to be at 56 - 58%. looks overdried and I'm not sure burping is doing anything at this point. even still the bud looks great, I haven't sampled yet or weighed the final dried buds.
may 22 - curing finished. these buds are fire. super clean high, no anxiety and not much couch lock. the buds are a little dry but bodeva keeps at 62%. main colas all weighed at 3g x 16. I didn't weigh the rest but I'm guessing 6 - 7oz total. summary would be "super dense resin nuggets!"
What’s the rationale for putting it dark for 24 hours before flipping?
About scrog, the point of scrogging is so you can flatten out the top layer so the top gets even light all over. If you bring your scrog net up and allow stretching vertically, you defeated the purpose of scrogging. You need that on the top layer that way they get used to it and when they start stretching, you tuck them under the net so it’s even and spread them horizontally.
Other than that she’s a healthy girl.
@MaryJaneUSA yes that's a good idea for the new nodes/lst. already she's way busier and I know those nodes underneath aren't getting much light already. I'll check tomorrow and see what's up for my game plan.
thanks again!
@forcode1123, i see, i was curious of the 24 hours because i dont think ive seen that technique before.
if that's the case with your scrog net, bring it down and tuck the leaves under the net and stretch it out a little bit horizontally until the middle part of the "new" nodes pop out a little bit and then raise the scrog net that way you can accommodate for the overgrowing as well as being able to LST at the same time. the last week of stretch, i'd leave the scrog net where it is.
hello my fellow gardener I think you are over looking the humidity . that low is going to hurt your plant when a young sprout it wants 80 % toss a dome on it :) in veg around 70 but will be happy even at 60 % you need a humidifier , dome is no good at this point as it will need to breath . try and mist your plant if cant reach this higher humidity for temp reasons ( google preferred times ) , hemis will look like little bananas and are easy to spot have no fear pay attention and give her love don't stress her to much in flower you will not get any you humidity is good for budding but could be a bit higher to start . I really think this will help your veg cycle and the speed of your plants growth happy gardening love the diary
@Mongler1187 thanks for the advice. even with a humidifier I still can't get it above 50. she's doing well in low humidity 19 weeks in. my biggest fear after harvest it's going to dry way too fast at 40-50% humidity.
