11/25/2020: Planted 2 seeds, 1 of each. Each seed in a rapid root plug, in Sohum living soil.
11/28/2020: the Gelato S1 has germinated. Roughly 3 days. No visible signs of the Dayger yet.
11/29/2020: both seeds germinated. Added humidifier to the tent. Probably will adjust exhaust fan to not run every 15 mins, thinking every 30 mins perhaps.
12/03/2020: 5 days from germination. The seedlings seem happy. Humidity levels are low, going to need to address.
12-05-2020 - transplanted into 10 gallon smart pots. Gave a hearty watering. Lights are about 10 inches above the plants.
12-06-2020 - watered each 1 gallon of water. Plants seem happy. Fair amount of runoff.
12-09-2020 - watered each 4 cups each morning since 12/06. They happy for the most part. Some nice growth in the last few days. Trimmed leave tips that were touching soil.
Week 2. 12/12/2020. Dayger is 3”. Gelato is 3.5”. Watered each a 1/2 gallon. The gallon had 10ml Biothrive Grow. Ph was 7.0. Temps are staying in the low 80s. Humidity staying around low 40s. Raised lights to maintain approximately 10” between plants / lights. These ladies definitely look indica, fat leaves. Watering daily, the Dayger soil must have more perlite as it drains so fast. The Gelato S1 seems to maintain the water. Good thing I’ve got deep containers. Might pick up some risers so the smart pots aren’t sitting in the water, better airflow too perhaps. Changed exhaust fan to 15 on / 45 off, with it being Winter, want to keep temp up & humidity up. Running exhaust 15 on / 15 off was great in the Summer.
Week 3. 12/19/2020. Watered each a gallon today. Each gallon had 5ml of CalMag & 10ml BioThrive Grow. Have altered timer on exhaust fan, now it’s 15 on / 45 off. That’s allowing humidity to stay higher and keeping the tent a bit warmer. All in all, off to a good start. Probably going to top them at 12” or week 6- maybe, I dunno. Would like to do a 10 week veg & 10 week flower. Will also scrog as I got way better results bud wise.
Week 4. Topped. Placed scrog net into play. Raised lights back to 12” from plants. Watered each plant a gallon that had 5ml CalMag & 10ml BioThrive Grow. PH seems to be dropping a bit. Gelato S1 seems just a bit taller than the Dayger - gonna let it play out. Will defoliate / lollipop in a few weeks. Still thinking a 10 week Veg - why I topped and scrog’d today. Net is currently 11” from the soil & 10” from the lights. Will raise lights accordingly once net starts filling in. Think I captured all the important info. 😁. Hope everyone had a Great Hanukkah & Christmas!
Week 5 plants are 12”. Raised lights to 13” from net. Fed each a gallon of water with 5ml CalMag & 10ml BioThrive Grow. Cleaned left bottom drip pan, had standing water, algae, high nutrient content looked like. Ph was 6.5. Replaced exterior air filter & the interior slip cover that covers over carbon filter. All in all, things are going ok.
Week 6. January 09, 2021. Did some light defoliation of fan leaves way under the net. Watered each plant a full gallon that contained 5ml CalMag & 10ml BioThrive Grow. Starting to fill in the scrog net. Still estimating I’ll flip the lights at 10 weeks, 4 more to go. Have been watering a gallon on Monday, gallon on Weds, then a gallon with nutrients on Saturday’s. They seem to like this cycle so far.
Week 7. Same ole same ole. Ladies were really dry today. Will have to water a bit on Fridays despite Saturday being the heavy watering / feeding. Scrog net is starting to fill in. Gelato S1 seems a faster grower than the Dayger. Hard to tell with only 1 of each. They both seem happy and that’s the important part.
Week 8. Watered and fed 5ml CalMag and 10ml BioThrive Grow. Will do a defoliation tomorrow after they’ve bounced back from dry soil.
Defoliation / lollipop’d both ladies 1/24/2021. Probably give them a week to recover from any stress before anything else. Might flip lights at week 9 versus 10 as canopy is looking good. I always hate defoliation, knowing I could make clones if I had a 2’nd environment.
Week 9. fed 5ml CalMag and 10ml BioThrive Bloom. Flipped lights to 12/12. Things are going well. Will have to check night time temp after lights have gone off. House temp is 68-70 degrees. Imagine tent will drop to close to that versus a constant mid 80 degrees
Week 10. Week 2 of flower. Fed 5ml CalMag and 10ml BioThrive Bloom. Ladies are really starting to stretch. Have backed off the Friday watering to a 1/2 gal each as I’m watering & feeding on Saturdays.
Week 12. Week 4 of flower. Fed 5ml CalMag and 10ml BioThrive Bloom. Defoliated. That magical time when they’re starting to flower and sprinkle pollen dust.
Week 13. Week 5 of flower. Fed 5ml CalMag and 10ml BioThrive Bloom. Bounced back from last weeks defoliation. All is looking well. Gelato S1 realllllly stretched.
Week 16. Week 8 of flower. Fed 5ml CalMag and 10ml BioThrive Bloom. Getting close to harvest. Thinking another week. This will be the last feeding. Just water from here on out. Very happy with the ladies.

@Ferenc,
Thank You ! I’m off to a decent start. My 3rd grow ever. First time growing 2 strains at the same time. Gonna go scrog (as I did 2’nd grow). Seemed an awesome way to get better buds.
@DreamOn,
Thank You ! Stoked both seeds germinated. At the risk of jinxing myself - I’m 100% germination rate. I know it’s an anomaly. Happy growing to ya !
@ThePhattKidd, Anytime man! That’s what it’s all about!! Learning new things and having fun while doing it. Saving $$$ is a big one too! Haha I love it, that’s a great nickname to have my friend! Keep at it and soon you’ll be growing the best crops your friends have ever smoked in their lives 😂🔥🔥🔥
@FreshCoastOrganics,
Thank You ! Appreciate the kind words. Still learning. Having fun. And saving $ since I don’t need to purchase flower at the way over priced dispensary. Plus my close friends are now calling me ‘the farmer’ which is way better than what they normally call me. Lol.
