Week 5 Veg Missed a week of photos but well and truly there was such little growth in that time due to environmental issues. I didn't appreciate just how cold some of the nighttime temperatures were in the veg tent and this would mean for growth (especially the youngins). Installed a heating element to keep temperatures between 19-23 at all times so hopefully, there should be an increase in the rate of growth. I think I've also started these in pots that are far too small. I didn't appreciate just how rootbound they were at this point, like bloody ramen

Keep getting this slimy green algae forming on the surface of the coco coir medium. Not sure if this is temperature dependent but it's pretty annoying, not sure if it's having a detrimental effect on the plant but I'd rather it wasn't here lol

"If you see green stuff growing on the top of your coco (algae) it’s often a sign that you’re watering too often. Although algae won’t hurt your plants directly, it only appears when the top of the coco has been constantly wet for a long time." https://www.growweedeasy.com/how-often-to-water-coco-coir

Block the light any way you can. The green algae is pretty normal and not really harmful, but you're right, it is annoying and it does use up some oxygen.

You just need to block the light to the medium. You can use something called Panda film for a commercial product, or something as simple as a piece of tin foil.
