12/7/2020: All five Fast Buds Blue Dream’matic seeds germinated. Seeds were soaked in water for 24 hours, then applied to a wet paper towel for 36 hours and stored in the grow tent at 72 degrees with humidity at 70%. Grow light was on to supply heat, however, the seeds were covered by an upside down bowl to ensure a dark environment. Once germinated, the seeds were added into a 70/30 soil to perlite mixture in 3 gallon pots. All five popped from the soil on 12/9/2020.
Currently have the veg light on for 24 hours to keep the temperature up. Will switch to full light on an 18/6 schedule next week most likely. The one Colorado Cookies plant has been growing more slowly, however, I’ve heard this strain tends to spend more energy on root growth during its early development. Later in the week one of the Blue Dream’matic plants started developing brown spots on its newest fan leaves, followed by yellow tips on the first set of leaves (after the cotyledons). Not sure what it is, hoping it’s not some kind of mould. Lowered grow tent humidity just in case.
Anyone know what is causing the brown spots on the leaves? So far it’s limited to one plant, and it was closest to grow light. PH of soil appears to be normal, and I have not fed any nutrients yet. The water in my house is treated with Calcite/Corosex for PH correction.
Brown spots are usually a cal mag underfeed. though this can be something different try upping her feed abit keeping the ph between 6.5 to 7.5 when growing in soil. Though it does look like a cal mag issue to me. great looking grow keep up the good work :)
Added a scrog net that is 8 inches above the pots. Once the autos reach that height I’ll start scrog training them. To combat the spots, I raised the light distance and lowered the humidity. This seemed to help, and the spots have not spread to any new leaves.
Started training with the scrog net. Two plants were tall enough to tie down. Colorado cookies is looking healthy and catching up to the Blue Dreams. All is looking good!
The Blue Dream plants have entered flower, with small nodes. Colorado cookies is still in veg, but I bet it’ll enter flower next week. Smell is pretty strong, but it resembles vegetation rather than bud. All plants are tied down except for one Blue Dream which is rather dense for some reason. Maybe in a week it’ll get tall enough to tie and spread out. Adding flower nutrients to the feed, all nutrients are now at 1/2 the manufacturers recommendations.
Flowers are all blooming nicely. Colorado Cookies has become the largest plant in the tent, super excited to see what it harvests. Trimmed a couple dead leaves off of the plant which originally had the yellow spots. One plant is short and more compact than the rest, guessing it’ll yield less, still hoping for at least 2 ounces from it.
First trichomes formed on the flowers! Got some frosty pictures. Can’t wait to see the buds pack and get denser over the next couple of weeks. I have a feeling they’ve reached their max size in the three gallon pots. I can see a dense root environment for sure, might think about increasing to 5 gallon pots one day.
All plants have at least 50% red/amber pistils. I do not have access to a loup or pocket microscope, so I’ll be judging harvest time by amber pistil percentage. I’m guessing that most will be ready to harvest within a week. Buds are packing nicely! I’ve noticed two different Blue Dream phenotypes in this batch. Will describe them more in depth come harvest time.
